LOGINKai’s POV
Liam sits with a bow, clutching his hand before him with his bag sitting on his lap.
“Yes Alpha?”
“How's the treatment with Kai going, I guess he's fond of you which is why he talks about you a lot?”
“Urgh?” A swift gasp escapes through. Liam shoots a dagger warning. I gulp.
My gesture. Suspicious. Cerise’s look confirms that. However, my attention returns to my dad who's still waiting on Liam to respond.
“It's going well, so far. Not a very critical case. Soon, he should be well.” I receive a brief glance from Dr. Liam, the customary look of doctors talking about their patients but I knew in this case, it isn't that pure.
He chuckles next. “About being fond of me, probably because I'm the best urologist and I administer my work well.” He delivers the response in a careful, meek style.
I nod to affirm. Dad smiles. I can't tell what it means to him.
“Hope everything is going well?” The question repeats, but this time sternly. Our eyes flashes wide to him. Liam cocks his head, confused. He nods again.
“Yes, it's going well.” He replies.
“Good! I don't want any problem.” Another statement to ponder over.
Suspicious as how?
Cerise cuts in, “Can I partake closely in your research and treatment of him being his fiancée?” He asks Liam directly whose eyes darken the more.
“No!” I intervene. “It's not acceptable in the doctor's profession to leak a patient's secret to mine. Wanting to closely partake means that.” I say with sarcasm.
She frowns, silent. Dad sits up, shaking his head. “I don't think there's anything wrong for her to follow you to the hospital and see what's going on?”
Liam peers into his watch with a frown, rising up. “I'm sorry, Alpha. I need to go. I have an appointment with surgery.” He steps out of his seat, pushing it back in. “I'm really sorry I can't stay till the end of the conversation.”
He doesn't look at me, nor my dad nor Cerise but turns and storms right away and I suspect it's what dad and Cerise said. He senses the mistrust. This is exactly what I would have done and the same thing I did.
“I've got to return home ahead of practice by 10 AM.” I say to both Cerise and dad, standing up. Cerise jumps off her seat and runs across to me.
“Let me follow you back, I'm not following dad this time around.” She utters meekly, pouting her lips.
“No!”
“Yes.”
“No. You can't.”
“Yes, I'll come.”
When the banter is too much, dad, who has been watching cuts in with a ferocious growl. “Why can't she follow you? Isn't she your Luna-to-be?”
That word weakens me automatically as I was about to go in pursuit of Liam. It dawns on me that no matter how I fight for us, we will not be together.
“Shhhh! Who wants to be together with him?” My senses awakens, shutting my wolf who had come into control. But all these go inside of me. I can't let anyone know.
I take Cerise in my car, leaving the old Alpha behind. Vincent who had brought him will take him back.
All through the drive with Cerise, the air is deadly quiet. Even when she turns her face to talk, she meets with a twisted, grumpy face who's not prepared to speak with anyone.
I drive straight to the pack estate, dropping her. My dad hasn't reached yet. Cerise waits for me, probably thinking I'll be walking with her inside the house but when I turn over and slide into the driver's seat, her eyes roll with massive shock, she storms back to the window of the car, leaning against it.
“Where are you going again?” She demands to know.
“Didn't I tell you I have practice by 10 AM?”
Speechless.
With this, I start the engine of the car, she shifts aside. Still without saying a word further, I reverse and drive away. From the side mirror, I glance at her gawking in shock with arms crossed against her chest.
I drive fast ahead to the pack hospital, my contract in my bag, pen and an anxious thought in mind. “Will he agree to this?” I ponder, all along the way.
At the pack hospital, I pack my car at the garage. Overseeing it is the general cafeteria. The sun is high early and I have to stay hydrated. I walk to the bottle water stand, taking one and slipping a dollar note into the vending machine, not waiting for the change.
Turning to go, my eyes clashes on a familiar figure in a doctor's code, demonstrating desperately, his face twisted with a frown. The more I look, it seems as though he's begging.
My heart tightens. A sudden wave of reflex to hear what they are saying comes to me.
As I move towards them from the left side route they won't most likely see him, a clearer view of them graces my eyes.
Dr. Liam takes his hands to the shoulders of the girl, drifting it down to her waist while her pretty face is twisted into a reluctant frown, refusing to let this gesture entice her.
I tiptoe to the corner adjacent to where they are standing.
“I'm working as hard as possible to gather the remaining money for you. Please…..” His voice tints with despair. I frown, yet forced to listen further.
“Thirty thousand dollars isn't easy to earn in a day or few but I promise I will make it….”
“Goshhhh!” I grumble in my chest. I'm here chasing after him and he's here, begging a girl. It isn't my problem he's begging this girl for whatever reason but from their pose, they seem to be couples.
What I hate most.
Someone who queerbaits.
“Oh no! He needs thirty thousand dollars to give her. What if he wasn't gay from the beginning but wanted to set me up, get some money from me and……”
I ball my fist, finding my wolf picking up a fight with my awakened brain.
“Aren't you still the same person to suspect he's with Elion?” My wolf scolds, silencing me suddenly. I steady, listening further. Perhaps the truth will be revealed because I suspected him with Elion from the pool scene.
I gulp.
“Three weeks is left. Only three weeks.” The girl finally speaks up, sternly. “If you can't get that sum in three weeks, consider it the end of everything.”
A deadly silence cascades over the entire space, crumbling me.
Three weeks? What will happen in three weeks? I ask myself.
Liam's POVThis is a tricky situation. The bulky envelope, no doubt containing money, is begging me to take it.“I cannot take that, Alpha.” I state. “ I'll do this as a favour to you, but offering me hush money is an insult to the hippocratic oath, and to my license” He smirks, Alpha Anderson is not the kind of man you say no to, I had only two options, do it without the bribe or do it with the bribe. I picked the one that eased my mind a little.“You're very smart, Doc. I'm glad you've decided to help me out” He lifts his leg from my table, standing with a grunt.“Well, I'll be on my way.” He said to me, then turns to his phone and dials up a number, “Send Gary in” Then he walks out without another word and I'm left reeling. Will I regret this decision I've made?Three minutes later, a knock sounds on my door.“Come in.”A young boy, about eighteen years old, walks in, head and shoulders slumped. What I notice though, is the way he walks, like he's in a lot of pain and discomfort.
Liam's POVI was very serious about me and Kai being strangers. He had no reason to be hurt about the fact that I wasn't acknowledging him or the numerous texts he had sent me since the last time we spoke. But he definitely was.He threw himself into the upcoming wedding with Cerise, posting regularly about it on his social media. He was popular, so I saw the posts; I was not stalking him or anything. My phone pings, and when I check it, I find out that his latest post on Twitter is blowing up.It's a picture of Kai and Cerise, both smiling wide, his arms around her as she nuzzles into him. With hashtags #iwouldnotwantitanyotherway #nohomoKai had personally sent it to my DM to ensure that I saw how happy he was with Cerise and that he didn't give a fuck about me.That was a tell on its own.I look up at my computer, then my phone pings again. If I receive another text concerning Kai’s homophobic post, I am going to block him and punch him the next time I see him.But it's not a text
Kai's POV I follow Liam around like a lost puppy. He's being very adamant and I don't know why I'm so hell-bent on him going on a date with me. I guess I want to sway him, make him change his mind about this being our last interaction.Liam hates me, or at least wants to avoid having anything to do with me, but I need Liam, before getting married to Cerise I need Liam to show me all that I have been missing.“Please?” I whine, tugging at his shirt as he goes into the kitchen, shuffling through utensils.“What the fuck is your problem.” He slams the butter knife on the counter, making me jump at the sound. “Leave me the fuck alone, you're getting married soon, why the hell won't you let me just be?” “I just want to treat you, before we cut all connections with each other” I whisper, looking down at my hands.I am Kai Anderson, I am not one to shy away from a tough situation and I definitely am not the type to cry. Shock passes through me as I feel my eyes get wet. With tears.“Are
Kai's POVMy thigh muscles spasm as we drive to Liam's apartment. I barely notice anything else, my blood thrumming in anticipation. He fishes out his key and unlocks the door.Immediately we're inside, I push him against the door, unbuckling his belt and dropping to my knees. His hands find my hair and I groan, pleasure rolling down my spine in waves. “Fuck Kai, you're so perfect.” He whispers, thrusting into my mouth, hitting the back of my throat. His hands are pulling my hair almost painfully, but the pain makes it even better. He's bucking and that's how I know he's about to come.“Get up,” he orders and I obey, our mouths crashing into each other. We move to his bedroom in a tangle of limbs, kissing and sucking and nipping. “Get on,” he says.I don't need to be told twice, I get on the bed, getting rid of my jeans. We're both stark naked, his perfect body gleaming with a sheen of sweat, he was a delight to look at.“Put your ass in the air, I'm going to fuck you senseless and
Liam's POVKai flips us over once more so that he is on top. My back hits the sofa with a thud.“You're so goddess damned handsome,” His eyes are cloudy with lust and I don't need to see a mirror to know that mine are the same. His body is cut like some god from Greek mythology, he could probably crack a nut with his biceps. Hard chiseled chest and a six pack worthy of being on the cover of a magazine, yet here he is, telling me that I was handsome.A blush crept up my neck, flushing my cheeks and I closed my eyes, hoping he didn't notice my reddened cheeks.“Are you blushing?” He chuckles.“You're so adorable, I want to put you in my pocket and carry you around, everywhere I go” He traces my clavicle, his breath fanning my face as he whispers sweet nothings into my ear.“I think of you every single second, you have wormed your way into my head and I can't help myself”My breathing comes in gasps, anticipating his next moves, my blood humming with excitement. This man is going to be
Liam's POV“Fuck!” I wake up with a start. When did I fall asleep? I must have been exhausted after the incident at Kai's residence, because not only did I fall asleep at my desk, I was riddled with some sort of nightmare.I groan, rubbing my eyes and stretching. I really need to get it together, as a doctor I was very familiar with exhaustion, but when it becomes too much, that's dangerous territory. My throat is parched, I grab a glass and stand from my chair. There should be some water in the other room.I walk into the inner room, it's a little compartment space before my office that I use as a resting space sometimes.I walk right into a body and almost tumble, stopping myself from letting out a yelp.“Who- WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE?” Not only was Kai Anderson in my inner office, he was slouched against the sofa like his knees couldn't hold him up.My doctor instincts kicked in.“What's wrong with you? Hey, sit down. What are you doing here?” I ask.He stumbled, like he
