Liam:

Wednesday came in the blink of an eye. The arena was packed, the proud Briarwood Tech flag flying everywhere. They weren't only proud; they'd been talking trash all over social media too, every post from their accounts going viral.

As for Viliam, that had settled. Fans had cried hard, some had even gone as far as cussing me out, and I deserved it, so I never once replied. Her account kept up with its usual posts, updates about the game, medical advice, and solutions to everyday problems.

  • Puck me. I’m yours   Chapter 153

Liam:I stood outside the boardroom in a crisp suit Whitfield had brought from the hospital. I had spent my whole life being judged by rooms like this, and today I wasn’t the one on trial, and it felt worse.Violet stepped out of the corner first. Her hands straightened my tie, then she looked up at me, cupped my cheeks, and whispered, “You don’t have to speak unless they ask.”“I know,” I told her.“But then again, you can speak if you’re comfortable. Remember, the room you’re about to walk into does not only have wolves ready to devour you. It has wolves ready to stand by you.”I knew she was right, but I couldn’t stop myself from worrying. The last board meeting I had attended had barely slipped under the radar. Now everything, from my relationship to my performance, was out in the open. I had the trending story of a child. I did not know where to start looking. I had news of a baby mama sick with cancer, whose location I had no idea of, or whether she had begun taking medication.

Liam:Marcus did not start speaking immediately, but I gave him time to lighten up. I watched him contemplate his options. Then, finally, he was centered.“I don’t know what you want to hear from me Liam. But I am certain I have nothing more than what you already know.”“I’m listening,” I told him.Marcus took a long breath, then began.“I can’t say much about my childhood, but growing up I've always had a godfather around. He has always been there for activities, school projects, prizes, and tournaments.Everything I participated in, he was there. There were times I remember he filled in the space of a parent when my adopted father couldn’t make it, and then I felt like the most important kid alive. I had a father. I had a godfather who loved to be with me in everything. It was cool. Then I found out he had a son. I didn’t find out about you accidentally. He told me about you and how he wished you were his.”Marcus looked at the floor first, then looked up at me.“You should get a D

Liam:Things had taken a drastic turn I hadn't expected. First Marcus, then Chloe. Evidence came from every direction: video clips, saved messages, social media posts, and written notes—everything was included. The investigation concluded within two days, and the board reached its decision. Marcus was eliminated from the team, and not only from Ashgrove's team but from hockey as a whole. He was not to play any match, not for anyone, not even as a hobby. The ban was effective immediately, even though the case was still headed to court. They had already abandoned him. Don, his favorite backer, was nowhere to be found. Don hadn't said a word, even when Hendricks submitted a plea on his behalf. He was the first to shut it down. It was only after his lawyer explained things to him that he finally saw clarity, tiny as it was.We sat across the table from him. He kept staring down at his fingers and hadn't spoken a word since we'd entered."Right now we're trying to make sure you don't ge

Third Person:"Tell me, Marcus, when have you ever been a friend to me? You caused my injury, and yet you had the nerve to sit and brag about it. This is my career. I could have never worked again. Everything about me could have been ruined. And the only person who looked at me, who supported me, who looked out for my good, was the same person you wanted to kill. Tell me, if you were in my shoes, what would you have done?"Marcus swallowed hard. "What do you mean, what would I have done? I am your friend. Friends are above everything. You should have taken my side. You wanted money? All you had to do was ask. If you had asked, I would have given you enough. You didn't have to...""I didn't have to protect myself against you?" Anderson said. "Back then, I didn't. I saved the evidence because I was curious. I thought maybe, just maybe, someday it could be of good use to you. I never saved those footages, those messages, those transactions, or those receipts to be used against you. Every

Third Person:The room fell quiet. Marcus gave Chloe a disgusted glare, then focused back on the detective."Now we move to you, Miss Vance."Chloe quickly adjusted her sitting position. Her hands were visibly trembling beneath the table."I didn't do anything, I swear," she began. "I wasn't there. Like I said, I wasn't there. I have no idea. He injured these people, Marcus told me, but I didn't have evidence. What was I to say? I couldn't even go to the police. What was I to say? That my boyfriend confessed he injured seven of his teammates? No. Who was going to believe me? No one, right? You understand, right? Don't you, Violet? Come on. Tell them. I wasn't there. I wasn't part of the plot.""Miss Vance, we're not saying you were part of his plot. The investigation is ongoing, and nobody will be charged for a crime he or she did not commit."Chloe let out a breath of relief. "Okay, so why am I here? I didn't do anything," she continued. The female detective almost slapped her to giv

Third Person:Before, the doctors had given two days for Patrov's case, but now the two days had passed. He was pronounced brain-dead. His organs had to be harvested for use, and his case went from accidental poisoning to homicide.Chloe, who had suspected something of that sort would happen, had already flown back to Ashgrove. She had taken the next flight the same day she had spoken with Marcus. She did not wait. She wasn't like Marcus. She wasn't going to wait for the police to catch up with her. On arrival at Ashgrove, the first thing she did was head to her apartment, pack what little she could, and book the next flight to leave the country. But she wasn't quick enough. At the airport, handcuffs were waiting for her.Chloe had just handed her passport and visa to the booking officer when police came out from around the area. They had been waiting for her."Miss Vance, going somewhere?" one of the police asked, and Chloe's body ran cold. Her hands began trembling so hard she could
