Elana POV

Damon and I spent all day at the farmer’s market, shopping and eating. By the time the sun begins to set, I am overly full and my feet are beginning to ache. It was the perfect day, and as much as I hate to admit it, it felt like a date.

His arm is draped over my shoulder as we walk to the car, and I let it stay there. I don’t miss how people glance our way, but they don’t look disgusted or disappointed. They smile sweetly and nod. For the first time since the rejection ceremony, I don’t feel like they are judging me. It is like they want to be happy for me.

The glow of the streetlights illuminates the parking lot, and I lean against Damon’s car, looking up into his eyes. “Thank you for today. I needed this.”

Resting his hand against the car, he leans in close. A little too close. He tilts my chin up and runs his thumb against my cheek. “I know you did.”

His face inches toward mine, and his eyes land on my lips. I draw in a sharp breath. I know he is going to k

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 61

Victor POVElana’s apartment building looms over me like a bad omen. They were here for her, again. I should have done more to protect her, but instead, I let my stupid pride get in the way. The threat is gone, but wreckage remains. I push my way into the stairwell while my warriors herd survivors away from the building. Each step feels heavier than the last, but I can’t seem to make myself go faster. I am scared of what I might find. Axel is pacing in my mind, frantic. He is tracking every scent we encounter, looking for traces of Elana’s and Gabby’s. We need to know they are still alive. I shove open Elana’s apartment door and stop dead in my tracks. Bile rises in my throat, and I struggle to swallow it back down. The place is wrecked. Glass covers the floor, the walls are destroyed, and the furniture is overturned. There isn’t an inch that isn’t covered in blood. And in the middle of it, Damon lies on his back, half-shifted, his shirt shredded, and the scent of silve

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 59

Elana POVBoxes cover every surface of the apartment, stacked like barricades against the walls and windows. Clothes spill from open suitcases, and Gabby’s stuffed wolf sits on top of one, its glass eyes staring at me like it knows the mistake I am making. “Don’t look at me that way,” I hiss at the stuffed animal. “We can’t stay here.” I look at it, almost expecting it to respond. Victor had it made for Gabby on her first birthday. It looks just like his wolf, Axel, with jet black fur and a singular white paw. I chuckle at myself for thinking that it might respond and return to the task at hand. I shove another stack of books into a box, ignoring the tremor in my hands. The TV hums low in the background. The news coverage is about some incident at the hospital, but I don’t bother to listen too closely. All I can think about is getting us out before the wedding, before my life completely collapses. I know I will have to face Victor one more time before I leave. We ha

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 58

Victor POVI stride into the hospital, my boots echoing down the polished hallways as nurses scramble out of my way. My Alpha aura is rolling off my skin in waves, causing the scent of fear to roll off anyone who encounters me. No one dares to stop me or slow me down; I am on a mission.I reach the records desk and attempt to school my anger. “I need the DNA test results,” I growl. “Now.” The receptionist blinks. She is flustered. Torn between doing her job and obeying her Alpha. “Alpha Victor. Those are confidential. You have already been sent a copy of what we could provide you.” “These are my children,” I growl. “Supposedly. Give me the full copies. I want to see everything.”The receptionist meets my gaze for a second before scrambling to her feet. She disappears into an office, and I hear the sound of a printer behind the door. She doesn’t return; instead, a nurse appears from the doorway with a manila envelope sealed with the hospital’s crest. Her hands tremble a

  • Pursuing My Rejected Luna   Chapter 57

Elana POVI walk up the gravel path toward the pack house with my arms wrapped around myself. The move date is planned. I am moving out of the Midsummer Pack on the same day that Victor will bind himself to Lara. When the invitation came by courier, I promptly ripped it in two. I would rather walk across hot coals than see them bind themselves together. The pack house looms over me. I can be in and out. Just like I planned, I find Victor, reject him, and then leave. This time, I will initiate the rejection. I can’t leave anything to error. I need to break this bond, once and for all. My feet slow to a stop when I see Damon step onto the porch. His shirt sleeves are rolled up, and his fists are clenched together in rage. He rubs the back of his neck before shoving his hands into his pockets. His eyes scan the grounds like he is making sure no one is watching him leave. “What are you doing here?” I call out to him before I can stop myself. He looks up quickly, but doesn’
