Chapter 5

"Isn't your concubine leaving too?" Elara asked.

"Do as you're told, Luna. Don't question me in front of my peers."

Like a bolt of lightening, her dreams barrelled into her. She turned towards Morgana who was looking disappointed and angry, then to Lucan who's eyes had already moved back to Sera, and Sera who looked comfortable, enjoying the attention of the alpha.

Three of them.

Something was going on. There was a reason they were in her dreams.

Alpha Riven finished his statement with an annoying smirk, leveling Elara with a long stare, taunting her. Daring her to take the bait.

Morgana's hand came to rest on Elara's shoulder as she says "You cannot entice our Luna with your pretty words, Alpha Riven"

"Wha... What did you mean when you said they had been lying?" Elara's shrill voice asked, her own gaze locked on Alpha Riven's.

She felt Morgana's fingernails dig into her shoulders, expressing her disapproval at her question.

"I cannot tell you exactly what you want to hear, Elara dear. You must find it on your own. There is a reason you've not been let out of this pack grounds in over five years, Luna. Weren't you ever curious why? Or do you just roll over and bark like a mutt when they command you to."

Elara turned to look at Morgana as if to ask if it was true.

"Enough!! I have had enough! You will leave my pack grounds and borders in peace, before I will have you forcefully removed" Alpha Lucan said.

Even Elara knew it would be impossible to have him forcefully removed. The werewolf before her was not ordinary. Pure power rippled under his skin. He could level the entire pack grounds if he so thought it. That much was obvious.

"I can only take your hand, and point you in the right direction." Alpha Riven continued like they had not just threatened him.

Lucan then turned to her, the same brimming fury showing on his face. "Alright Luna. Thats enough excitement for today... You should retire to your quarters immediately. Weightier matters are about to be discussed."

Elara stood from her seat without even thinking about the action. She had been beaten and punished enough to know not to disobey her Alpha and mate. But then she noticed Sera still sat comfortably.

Elara made her feet to walk, One step in front of the other.

She stepped down from the raised stage, and walked straight towards Alpha Riven.

"Where are we to go?" she asked him softly

She needed to find out why, and she could not find those answers in the bottom of a flower vace she would have been arranging or in the many tasteless dresses she would be wearing.

"When and where are we going?" she asked again.

"If you leave this pack grounds," Alpha Lucan bellowed, his eyes rimming red with rage. "if you step a foot outside of this pack, you will have no pack to return to when you eventually come back. I will cease to be your mate, husband and alpha. I will reject you" Lucan finished.

"Elara, remember your duties. Remember who you are. If you turn against us now, everything you have done, all the lessons you learned from me will be for nothing. Do not make a bad choice and ruin everything" Morgana said from beside Lucan.

From her point on the floor, she could see them clearly now... Funny how three of them were left on the stage.

"If you leave, Wren will take your place as Luna." Alpha Lucan said with finality.

"I have been a warrior since I could walk. My father trained and taught me everything he knew. Curse, prophesy or not, he loved and took care of me the best he could. He never hid me away from the public eye, he never told mje I was not good enough or that I had to work double for the people to accept me." Elara blinked back tears at the memories of her father came rushing back.

" I have tasted love, I have tasted power, I have tasted family, and even as your Luna, you never offered any of them to me. You said you chose me by mistake, and you were young and stupid.

Well, let me take that choice off of your hands. I, Elara Martinns, reject you, Alpha Lucan as my mate in the presence of all this witnesses and under the ever seeing eyes of the moon goddess. I am not to be afilliated with you from here on out!!! Goodbye Lucan"

Elara willed her legs to move as the blinding pain enveloped her, swallowing her whole.

She walked out of the banquet door and continued to walk, not really seeing her surroundings.

She needed to breath. She needed air, she needed the pain to stop, she needed...

Strong arms held her as her body rocked with the force of the tears and pain.

Elara let out a scream as the mating bond snapped and everything went to black.

"What do you mean?" Riven’s voice dropped, a hard, dangerous edge cutting through his tone. He stepped closer to the Priestess, his aura flaring slightly with the demanding weight of an Alpha. "Selena, if there is a threat coming for my mate and my son, I need a name. Elaborate. Who are we dealing with?"Selena met his gaze steadily, though her hands trembled slightly beneath her robes. "I cannot, Riven. Not yet. Giving a name to an ancient shadow gives it power, and right now, I have only suspicions based on old lore. If I am wrong, I cause unnecessary panic. If I am right... I need time to consult the sacred texts to be absolutely certain how to fight it."Riven looked ready to argue, his jaw tight with frustration, but Elara gently placed a hand on his chest, her touch instantly soothing his rising temper. He took a heavy breath, forcing his posture to relax, though his eyes remained guarded."Fine," Riven growled softly. "But the moment you know something concrete, you tell us

Selena stared down at Morgana, her expression remaining entirely unmoved by the tears."I am not letting you out of this cell today, Morgana," Selena said, her voice calm but completely final. "But I will make you a promise. If we verify your story, and if the details about Zara’s benefactor check out, I will come back for you. Until then, you will stay right here where I can have my eyes on you."With that, Selena turned on her heel and began to walk out of the dungeon, Riven and Elara following close behind her."Selena, no! Please!" Morgana screamed, grabbing the silver bars in her desperation, entirely ignoring the sharp sting of the metal against her skin. "I'm telling the truth! I swear to you, I'm telling the truth! You can't leave me here! I can't live without my magic much longer! It's killing me, Selena!"Her raw, panicked cries bounced off the damp stone walls, but Selena didn't look back. From a few cells down, a harsh, mocking laugh cut through Morgana's sobbing."

  • Queen Of Two Packs: Broken Luna   Another Dream Another Trouble

Elara was running through a thick, endless fog. The air was freezing, sticking to her skin like ice. She couldn't see her hands in front of her face, but she could hear a low, scraping sound of heavy chains dragging against stone.Suddenly, the fog parted. Standing before her was a towering, shadowy figure. It had no face, only two hollow points of cold, empty darkness where eyes should have been. This was definitely not how the moon goddess appeared to her... this was different... this was evil... pure evil...An icy wind whipped through the dream as the being stepped closer. The air in her lungs turned to frost. When it spoke, the voice didn't come from a mouth; it echoed directly inside her mind, heavy, grating, and freezing cold.“You think you have won, little wolf,” the voice whispered, sending a shiver of pure terror straight to her core. “You think your fragile peace will last. But what is mine will be taken. The board is set, and the pieces are already moving.”The shado

Lucan stared at her, his jaw trembling as her words sunk in. The anger in his eyes was slowly being replaced by a deep, frantic confusion. "How?" he whispered, his voice shaking. "How do you fake a mate bond, Zara? It’s a spiritual connection! It’s the Goddess’s will! You can’t just... fake that!"Zara let out a sharp, mocking laugh, leaning closer to the bars to look down at his miserable face."Oh, Lucan, you really are a hopeless romantic, aren't you?" she taunted, her voice dripping with venom. "It's hilarious that you think the Goddess has anything to do with what's happening now. The truth is, the person by my side only needed you for a very brief moment. You were just a temporary distraction, a pawn to move a few pieces around the board."She paused, watching him process the harsh reality of how completely insignificant he truly was."And now?" Zara smiled cruelly, taking a slow step backward into the center of the dark hallway. "They are completely done with you. You’ve o

Zara kept talking, her eyes fixed on the darkness. "You promised me. You need to follow the plan you laid out and free me from this place. I did my part, now do yours."For a moment, there was only silence. Then, a loud, cold laugh echoed through the room, rattling the stone walls.Suddenly, the heavy iron chains wrapped around Zara's wrists began to glow white-hot. The heat was instant and brutal. She screamed as the metal burned deep into her skin.Unable to fight the intense pain, her body forced a shift. Bones cracked and reshaped as she transformed into her brown wolf. Even in her wolf form, the burning was unbearable. She threw her head back and let out a loud howl of pure agony that rang through the entire cell block. As the howl faded, the glowing chains finally snapped, melting and falling away from her paws. A loud crash shook the floor as the heavy iron prison gates slammed open, leaving the path ahead completely clear.Inside his own dark cell, Lucan was pacing like

  • Queen Of Two Packs: Broken Luna   It Was All A Game

The moment the baby was placed safely onto the bed, the sheer weight of the last few hours...and the last few months...finally caught up to Elara. Her eyelids grew impossibly heavy, the room’s frantic energy blurring into a warm, distant hum. With one final, lingering look at the tiny miracle she had just brought into the world, her eyes closed, and she fell into a deep, completely exhausted sleep, her breathing instantly leveling out.Riven didn't move from his position behind her, acting as a steady, protective shield even as she slept. Gently, Selena stepped forward, her expression softening into that of a proud mother. With quiet movements, she began to clean Elara up, wiping away the sweat and blood with a tenderness reserved only for her daughter, ensuring Elara could rest in complete comfort. On the other side of the room, Willow was practically vibrating with excitement. She had immediately assumed the role of the proud aunt, leaning over as Riven carefully wrapped the ne
