Queen EPILOGUE ONE - TEN YEARS LATER
RASMUS POV Ten years. It passed in the blink of an eye. Leda took to the role of queen like a duck to water, not that anyone but her ever had any doubt. She still hasn't opened her own bakery and she's still got an unhealthy obsession with Greggs pastries. She took her knowledge and skills from the university and got a degree in psychology. She's been helping with those vampires who struggle with their rebirth. She's still the most perfect creature in existence. The biggest obstacle we've had to overcome has been the 'council'. Because Leda was right, of course. Some of the council ‘men’ – I sneer at the thought – seemed to assume that Leda would be a queen similar to Carlotta. It started with inappropriate comments. I thought I’d shut them down well enough but then Orm decided to corner Leda after a meeting. I grit my teeth as I walk along.
Queen EPILOGUE TWO – TWO YEARS AFTER THAT
(THIS CHAPTER TAKES PLACE TWELVE YEARS AFTER CHAPTER 61) LEDA POV Rasmus calmly walks through the door to the suite, and I look at him, annoyed. “Why do I let you do this to me?!” I huff, as I bounce on a medicine ball. He grins “Mmm.” He pretends to consider the question as he stalks over to me “Because you love me” he announces confidently. He places his hands on my cheeks and turns my head up towards him; pecking me gently on the lips. I narrow my eyes at him, as he saunters back over to the other side of the room. He looks back at me, notices the look on my face, and gives me a smug, triumphant grin. “Less and less by the second” I tell him, bouncing harder He laughs “Funny. I seem to remember you saying something awfully similar last time.” he settles on the armchair’s arm. Queen CHAPTER ONE - LEDA
Fuck! I looked down at the front of my shopping cart. It was nestled neatly into someone’s groin. He’d just appeared round the corner and stopped right in my way, so technically it wasn’t my fault, but still, acid humiliation started burning my insides. He made a half cough, half retching noise and I glanced up, taking a deep breath. He was bent over slightly due to the impact of my groin invasion, dark golden locks flopped over his forehead, whisky eyes swirling with shades of amber and honey. His camel-coloured topcoat was close fitting, and I got the distinct impression it was hiding some impressive muscles. Especially if those thighs trying to escape that expensive Tom Ford suit were anything to go by. I started getting hot under the collar. His knuckles turned white as he gripped onto the cart's metal frame and I stared hard at him, tilting my head slightly to the side. Shit, I just ruined his chances of reproducing. “MMM” I moaned in satisfaction as my orgasm subsided. As I came back into the room from my carnal haze, I became distinctly aware of the sound of sloshing liquid and realised I'd tipped the wine from my cup. I giggled and pulled myself upright on the huge wooden throne decorated in red velvet. I looked down at Aksel, still busy lapping at me like a cat who got the cream. I sighed, he was handsome...but worthless. I reached down and grabbed him by the collar, pulling him up toward me, his arms moved from under my skirts to hold himself up on the arms of my throne. “Yes, understood. Thank you” I hung up the call and threw the mobile onto my bed, sighing. Of all the advancements made in the last century, mobile phones have got to be the worst. I hated the sense of obligate availability. It used to be that people would have to line up for my time, but I was a prince no longer. No, now I had real problems.I snorted, that availability Lars didn’t seem to have. I’d called him 3 times since my latest meeting and he still hadn’t responded. Anyone else I’d be furious, but I trusted Lars with my life. I chuckled to myself again. Perhaps that wasn’t the best phrase for the man who turned me into the monster I am? I can’t fault him though. Bragi had claimed to be the local doctor. When I’d been struck down on that ill fated hunting trip, Lars had searched for someone to heal me. Maybe he just couldn’t stand to lose another to the pox? THWACK!That was a good one, I was proud I’d got up early just for that jab. THWACK, THWACK, THWACK. Dr Vanum’s potential diagnosis yesterday had thrown me, so after a restless night, I’d decided to haul my butt to the gym. I might be exhausted, but throwing one punch at a time, picturing His face on the bag...it was good therapy. My phone alarm started going and I paused. I hadn’t realised I’d been here so long. But if I wanted to be at work on time, then I better wrap up now. I collected my things and headed to the changing rooms for a shower. “Yes Mr Ciobanu. Yes, the university would be very interested in this conference. Next week, yes. I’ll be there” A conference amongst the most esteemed colleagues in relation to the social impact of myths and folklore. I chuckled, what could possibly be better than this to take my mind of the crazy man who was convinced he’s a vampire? I mean, literally anything else, but at the same time I was grateful to be invited. This would be the feather in the cap of the university and to be the one invited to represent them, well. I felt like I was teetering on the edge of becoming one of these esteemed colleagues. I couldn’t help the happy grin that spread over my face. The doorbell went. Who’d be bothering me mid-afternoon? I hadn’t ordered anything...that I remembered anyway. I opened the door “Hel-” the smile froze on my face, and I felt myself start to scowl. “Well,” came the low tone of a – Scandinavian? accent. “That’s the first time I’ve ever had that reaction quite so quickly”
