Adelaide 'Leda' Knox is exceptional. She is destined to save the vampire race from a deadly disease that has been ravaging their population for 150 years. It's a shame Leda has no idea that vampires exist. Rasmus Lyksborg is the last survivor of the House of Oldenburg. His family sat on the throne for centuries. He should be king But he's not. Can Rasmus persuade Leda to answer the call of destiny, or will both succumb to political machinations, prophecy and plague?

If you want to give a new author a try look no further! This book is well written, with entertaining dialogues and 3D characters. Intriguing plot line with twists and turns. Loved to hate some of the characters. I truly enjoyed every chapter

I’m really loving Leda! She’s normal kind of sensible and funny. I just really hope she’ll end up right.

Characters who have actually lived in the real world and aren't teenage fools make this such an interesting read! Can't wait for more. Leda to rule them all!!

CHAPTER ONE - LEDA
Fuck! I looked down at the front of my shopping cart. It was nestled neatly into someone’s groin. He’d just appeared round the corner and stopped right in my way, so technically it wasn’t my fault, but still, acid humiliation started burning my insides. He made a half cough, half retching noise and I glanced up, taking a deep breath. He was bent over slightly due to the impact of my groin invasion, dark golden locks flopped over his forehead, whisky eyes swirling with shades of amber and honey. His camel-coloured topcoat was close fitting, and I got the distinct impression it was hiding some impressive muscles. Especially if those thighs trying to escape that expensive Tom Ford suit were anything to go by. I started getting hot under the collar. His knuckles turned white as he gripped onto the cart's metal frame and I stared hard at him, tilting my head slightly to the side. Shit, I just ruined his chances of reproducing. I should apologise, not just stare like some simpleton. Chri

CHAPTER TWO - CARLOTTA
“MMM” I moaned in satisfaction as my orgasm subsided. As I came back into the room from my carnal haze, I became distinctly aware of the sound of sloshing liquid and realised I'd tipped the wine from my cup. I giggled and pulled myself upright on the huge wooden throne decorated in red velvet. I looked down at Aksel, still busy lapping at me like a cat who got the cream. I sighed, he was handsome...but worthless. I reached down and grabbed him by the collar, pulling him up toward me, his arms moved from under my skirts to hold himself up on the arms of my throne. We were nose to nose, and I felt Aksel purse his lips and move toward me for a kiss. I swiftly snapped his neck to the side and sank my fangs into his neck, draining him of his lifeblood. Now he was worthless. “My Queen” I sighed, bored, and looked up to see Magnus approaching. He glanced over at Aksel’s dead body and gestured for the servants to dispose of it. “What is it Magnus?” I threw myself back into the throne, s

CHAPTER THREE - RASMUS
“Yes, understood. Thank you” I hung up the call and threw the mobile onto my bed, sighing. Of all the advancements made in the last century, mobile phones have got to be the worst. I hated the sense of obligate availability. It used to be that people would have to line up for my time, but I was a prince no longer. No, now I had real problems.I snorted, that availability Lars didn’t seem to have. I’d called him 3 times since my latest meeting and he still hadn’t responded. Anyone else I’d be furious, but I trusted Lars with my life. I chuckled to myself again. Perhaps that wasn’t the best phrase for the man who turned me into the monster I am? I can’t fault him though. Bragi had claimed to be the local doctor. When I’d been struck down on that ill fated hunting trip, Lars had searched for someone to heal me. Maybe he just couldn’t stand to lose another to the pox? At any rate, Bragi had asserted that he could save me. I don’t think anyone could have dreamed up the method he used. A

CHAPTER FOUR - LEDA
THWACK!That was a good one, I was proud I’d got up early just for that jab. THWACK, THWACK, THWACK. Dr Vanum’s potential diagnosis yesterday had thrown me, so after a restless night, I’d decided to haul my butt to the gym. I might be exhausted, but throwing one punch at a time, picturing His face on the bag...it was good therapy. My phone alarm started going and I paused. I hadn’t realised I’d been here so long. But if I wanted to be at work on time, then I better wrap up now. I collected my things and headed to the changing rooms for a shower. I hated changing room showers, why can’t you just turn them on then off? None of this stopping part way through and suffering the cold blast at the start of every fresh stream. I shuddered as I soaped myself up and prepared myself for the arctic rush. Once done, I wrapped myself in my huge towel, grateful I’d brought the fluffiest one with me. I slipped on my towelling slippers – no one wants whatever is on this floor. I exited the gym in r

CHAPTER FIVE - CARLOTTA
“AHH!”I momentarily paused bouncing on Erik’s cock to appreciate my orgasm. His hands moved from supporting him on the bed, to my hips and he took one of my nipples into his warm mouth. The door slammed open and heavy footsteps entered the room without permission. This could only be Magnus, no one else would dare enter the room without permission. Especially when I was...otherwise engaged. Erik flipped me over, covering me with his body. A reflexive action to protect his queen; he’s a good boy.“Get out boy!” Magnus growled, eyes flashing crimson, huge moustache fluttering. Erik hopped off me and I fleetingly missed his warmth. He gathered his clothing and scuttled from the room, the door closing heavily behind him. I threw my hand over my eyes and laughed. “What’s got your moustache in a twist Magnus? I was enjoying myself”“My Queen, you can enjoy yourself later – the chosen one has been found!”“HVAD?! HVORNÅR? HVOR?! HVORDAN?!” I slipped into my native tongue.“Somewhere in L

CHAPTER SIX - LEDA
“Yes Mr Ciobanu. Yes, the university would be very interested in this conference. Next week, yes. I’ll be there” A conference amongst the most esteemed colleagues in relation to the social impact of myths and folklore. I chuckled, what could possibly be better than this to take my mind of the crazy man who was convinced he’s a vampire? I mean, literally anything else, but at the same time I was grateful to be invited. This would be the feather in the cap of the university and to be the one invited to represent them, well. I felt like I was teetering on the edge of becoming one of these esteemed colleagues. I couldn’t help the happy grin that spread over my face. The doorbell went. Who’d be bothering me mid-afternoon? I hadn’t ordered anything...that I remembered anyway. I opened the door “Hel-” the smile froze on my face, and I felt myself start to scowl. “Well,” came the low tone of a – Scandinavian? accent. “That’s the first time I’ve ever had that reaction quite so quickly”

CHAPTER SEVEN - RASMUS
“Nope” Lars and I were sitting at the long oaken bar in the central hall of the manor house. This had got to be the best part of our renovation. I downed the rest of my pint and started thinking about what I could drink next. I had a feeling nothing was going to block the shame of failing with Leda quite so spectacularly. For the second time.I don’t know what it is about her, but she stupefies me. Literally – I can barely think when I’m around her, let alone form coherent sentences. No wonder I couldn’t express myself the way I wanted to.My eye caught on the Narwhal Imperial Stout. 10.2%, that’ll help drown out this humiliation. I leant across the bar to reach for it - “Koos kansloos!” Lars suddenly shouted. I think the drink had gone to his head already – he's getting even louder than normal. “Koos kansloos! Hahahaha! As Lise would say! Hahahaha!” His fiery orange beard jiggled on top of his chest as he laughed his booming laugh. Bitterly, I consoled myself that at least I wasn’

CHAPTER EIGHT - CARLOTTA
“She arrived last night.” Magnus’ excited tone broke through my tranquil reverie. I didn’t respond, continuing to dress my face and hair in the mirror. I might be dead, but I can still look good. “My Queen? She is here. Brandt got her, he’s good for some things!” “Mmm.” I answered thoughtfully “And how do we know she is the Chosen One?” I asked. “We are simply taking my dear cousin’s word for it?” What if he was wrong? How did he even know?! I was starting to have doubts about this – what if it was all some kind of ruse to hide the real ‘Chosen One’ from us? Magnus paused, as if he’d heard my silent questions. “Well, let’s meet her, perhaps it will become apparent?” I stopped, hitting my palms against my dresser louder than I needed to when there’s only two of us in the room “What? Like she’s got ‘CHOSEN ONE’ tattooed across her forehead?!” “Perhaps not quite that literal, My Lady.” I still wasn’t convinced; so I neglected to answer him for a second time. “I have instructed

CHAPTER NINE - LEDA
When we’d arrived last night, Sebastien had hurried me through the winding stone flagged corridors and up about a million steps. OK, two flights of steps, but there were lots of them! And they were all higgledy piggledy too, so by the time we arrived wherever we were going, I was tired! Sebastien had shown me to a huge wooden door, which opened with a great creak like you’d get in some kind of gothic fairytale. But the room behind had taken my breath away. Softly lit by a multitude of candles along each wall, it was dominated by a mahogany four poster bed. The coverlet was a dusky pink, which I guess gave the walls their similar shade in the candlelight, and there were at least ten pillows! I’d need that little built-in step to climb into it though. “This will be your room.” Sebastien had said, as if that weren’t blindingly obvious by him bringing me here. I resisted the urge to run and jump on the huge, soft expanse of the bed. “My room is opposite, so I can collect you for break

CHAPTER TEN - LEDA
“Not used to vampires?” Mathias looked quizzical. “I only found out you existed yesterday, when I arrived here.” He raised an eyebrow at me. “I was told before then, but...I’m not sure I believed it.” Mathias shrugged “That sounds like a reasonable reaction, honestly.” I looked back at him; he smiled “Had my family and I not been forced to turn by a very present vampire guard, I doubt I’d have believed either.” “Forced?” I murmured at him. He smiled weakly. “The Queen decreed that her court and all staff at the castle would turn along with her.” He glanced at the door then continued, bitterly “I suppose there is no point in forfeiting your life to the devil for a throne if every one of your subjects will die.” Then he looked up at me “Forget I said that” I just stared at him, horrified “I can’t forget...but I won’t mention it” and he nodded gratefully, before turning to fetch me a desk from the viewing balcony. My mind was reeling – Carlotta might not have made a good impression
