Jessie's POV
Have you ever been to a prison cell? If no, then you are very lucky; this place reeks of weed, alcohol, urine and all sorts of things - my stomach was churning and turning urging me to puke my guts out.Why will I lock up here without interrogation? This wasn't the way to go about arresting people and locking them up.One and an half hour of being locked up here, I feel sick. I am greatly worried about Mrs Tiffany; why will her almost-to-be daughter-in-law poison her because she wants me out of the way? She is so kind and loveable, I hope she will he fine." Someone is here to see you. " The rude policewoman snapped at me while opening the cell gate.Thank God, Xander is here, I'll tell him everything about that lady.Coming out of the cell, following wherever the woman was leading me, I saw no Xander but a strange man staring at me.Is he the one who wants to see me?" Hi. " He says, sending me a lazy smile. His voice was deep but not as Xander.Who is he?And like he read my mind, he stretched out his hand for an handshake. I looked down at it blankly and he chuckled lowly. " I am Oliver Westley, Xander's friend. "Well, isn't that surprising? I didn't realize that a man like Xander could have friends.Wait, am I supposed to introduce myself now or should I just let it be?" I'm Jessie Cooper. "" I know. "" Right. "" I'll drive you home. " He says, tucking his hands in his front pocket. " I've taken care of your bail. "Oh, thank God. I can finally leave this stinking place." Thanks. "Nodding his head, he gave me a full blown smile. " It's nothing. "As we walked out of the prison building to the parking lot outside, I felt so uncomfortable around him. It wasn't hate, it was uncomfortability - I hate Xander but I'm comfortable around him, this guy gives off weird vibes.Oliver opened the car door for me to enter and I cringe at his behavior. There was something wrong with this guy.‘Or maybe he's just being a gentleman unlike Xander.’ my subconscious mind screamed at me." Can I ask you a question?" He inquired, driving out of the parking lot.Resting my back on the seat, I exhaled gratefully for finally breathing in fresh air. " Yeah. "I wonder what he wants to ask me." Do you have a boyfriend?"I knew he was weird, I just knew it.My head turned to him sharply, my brows narrowing at him. " Why should I answer that?"" I want to know. "" Why?" I retorted snappishly.Oliver takes his eyes out from the road to stare at me for two seconds before facing back. " I like you, Jessie. "A laughter that flew out of my mouth was so loud and mocking as I stared at him with disgust.I knew there was something weird about him; how can he say that to someone he just met? To the mother of his friend's kids. It isn't like, it is pure lust - all men are the same, they only want one thing and once they get it, there is no seeing them again. He had the guts to even ask. " Is it funny?"" Yes, it is very funny actually. " My politeness leaving my body. " Listen, Mr Westley, I appreciate the fact that you are courage to tell me your feelings after bailing me but I don't like you and I'll never. "" Why? I have everything Xander has, why can't you like me?"Is he jealous of his friend?" Hmm, " I looked at the roof of the car in pretence thoughtfulness. " Maybe because Xander didn't tell me he likes me the first day he met me. " I've always had a expertise in sarcasm and I made sure the reply wasn't missing any.Oliver glanced at me, raising his brows questioningly. " So, are you saying you don't like me?"Haven't I made it clear enough? Doesn't he give up? Take a hint, mister." Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. " My voice was firm and clear enough to get the message across." Leave Xander and come to me, I'll treat you like a princess. Your sons will have everything they want. " He is shameless. Ignoring him, I looked out of the window hoping we were close enough to somewhere I know so I can get off. " You're a threat to Melanie and she will do everything to remove you from the picture. "Who is Melanie? Wait, is Melanie the lady who kidnapped me and poisoned Xander's mother? OMG, how can someone so cruel have such a cute name?" She is the one who poisoned the breakfast Mrs Tiffany had. " Awwn, look at him trying to act all dependable and smart.Did he think I didn't know that? It was the second brightest thing after the sun." If you come to me, I won't let her harm you. "As creepy as he is, he is right. That lady will do anything to get me out of the way - she is even capable of poisoning her own mother-in-law so what can't she do? If I stay around Xander, she might hurt the kids, I won't be able to take that." Don't worry, I won't be needing your heroic saving Mr Westley. I can take care of myself and my sons too so I won't be needing your care either. " Unbuckling my seatbelt, I informed him. " Stop the car. "I can't spend another minute with him in the same space, I might suffocate of weirdness and die of creepiness." What?" He asked like I talked in whispers." STOP THE DAMN CAR. " Screaming at the top of my voice for him to hear me since his ears is malfunctioning. " I want to get off!"" But we are almost at Xander's. "" Oh, great. I love walking, I'll continue the journey on my own, thank you. " Plastering a forced smile on my face, I said. " Pull over. "He did and immediately I got off of his car. Why will Xander keep a creepy guy like that as his friend? He better have another friend because this one wasn't a friend.••I let out an exaggerated sigh when I heard the elevator ding open - calmness settling in me after reaching Xander's penthouse safely; it was a miracle that I managed to find the place. All the calmness that has settled inside me evaporated into the air when my eyes landed on Melanie kissing Xander - he was clearly not enjoying the proximity of their lips on each other by how tightly shut his eyes were and how she was the one leading the kiss." Humph. " I hummed disapprovingly, shaking my head and succeeding to draw them away from each other. " Hi, can I talk to you?" My question was directed targeted to Xander but Melanie stepped in front of me glaring at me." What do you want to tell him?" She snapped, eyeing me disdainfully. " You probably want to use the fact that you have kids for him to blackmail him but it won't work, Missy. Who let you out of jail?"" Pardon?" Xander's confused and clueless voice stopped my next line of comeback. " Why did you go to jail?"" I didn't go to jail, I was sent there by her. " I equally gave Melanie scornful glare wanting to send her to her hell. " This thing here framed me for poisoning your mother and I got arrested. "Xander's blue eyes turned a shade darker looking at his almost-to-be wife with awe. " You did what?"" She is lying. " Melanie cried out, trying to hold his hand but he shifted backwards. " You know I love your mom so much, I would never do that. She's lying, she is the one who poisoned Tiffany. "" Why would she do that? She doesn't even want to be here. " I was surprised when he supported me. " I know you are jealous of her but why get my mom involved in this?" He didn't give her any chance to talk. Her crocodile tears weren't touching him. " Just you pray nothing happens to my mom because if anything happens to her, I swear to God, I'll bury you alive. "My attention was taken away from them as footsteps draw nearer, I looked over and saw my world - my kids running to me. Everywhere turned quiet as the kids approached me with smiles on their faces." Mummy!" Their happy voices sounded before they hugged my legs.I bend down, taking them into my arms. " I missed you boys so much. Did you miss me?"They nodded, chorusing. " Yes!"" I don't like this lady, mummy. " Jace read my mind. " Tell you not to kiss daddy again. "Who in their right senses will like Melanie?" Baby, I'm sorry. It was the devil's fault. " I couldn't help but laugh at her statement. I mean she is right - she is a devil but it was still funny.Standing up on my feet, I wanted to go away from here but the kids weren't having it." Daddy?" Jayden called, quizzically.A smile crept up on Xander's lips, facing him. " Yeah?"" We want you to marry our mummy. "What?!" Yes, don't marry this robotic witch and get married to our mummy or we'll leave and never come back. " Jake added, looking at Melanie with hatred in his blue eyes. No, this can not be happening. My sons aren't ganging up on me and one of them didn't just throw a threat to his father, right?" Get married to mummy or we will leave. " The tiny British accent spoke. " Choose between the two options, Daddy. "Melanie was transfixed on the spot, mouth gaping open, eyes widen in shock. I'm sure my expectations mirrored her listening to my sons.Me, get married to Xander? Definitely not happening. Nope, not in this life.Thank you all who followed along on Xander's and Jessie's journey. I really hope you enjoyed the journey and then, keep showing the story some love. Third Person's povThe hospital room was filled with police officers, all asking questions and taking notes. Scott stood in the corner, his heart racing. What if they couldn't find the person responsible? What if they couldn't make Jessie better? He felt like the world was crashing down around him, and he didn't know how to make it stop.As the police filed out of the room, one of the officers turned to Scott. "We'll be in touch," he said, his voice solemn. "We'll do everything we can to find out what happened and who's responsible." Scott nodded, trying to quell the panic that was rising within him. He felt as if he had known her forever, and he knew that this was the start of something special.Melanie stared at Sarah in disbelief. "Are you serious?" she asked, her voice trembling. "I can't believe you would even suggest such a thing. That's...that's crazy!" Sarah's face hardened, and her voice was icy. "Oh, so it's crazy to want to get rid of that gold digger who's stealing your boyfriend away from you?" Melanie felt like she had been punched in the gut. She had never imagined that Sarah would feel this way about her. She shook her head, her mind reeling. "You're wrong, Sarah," she said, her voice breaking."I know you're upset," Sarah said, her voice softening. "But I just want what's best for you. You deserve better than this. You des
