Eva's POV

"Now is your chance Eva, you have to run now. The guards aren't watching here" Matteo said to me in a desperate voice. My eyes widened at his words and I shook my head.

"No, I'm not leaving you, you have to come with me!" I said to him back but he pushed me away, looking even more desperate.

"Get out of here now! I'll hold the guards back. We can't both leave here. We'll be caught. Please, Eva leave now" He said and tears welled in my eyes.

"But if I leave you behind you'll be punished. Matteo please-"

"I believe you'll come back for me. Go on and prove us both innocent" He interrupted me with a small smile. I wiped my tears and nodded, I was being emotional and he was right. If we both try to escape together, we would be caught.

"I promise I'll be back for you. I'll prove you innocent and get you out of this hell hole" I promised and he nodded.

"Leave Eva! I can hear their footsteps! Leave now" he yelled and I started to run. I turned back one last time to take a look at Matteo before running.

I ran like my feet were on fire, I couldn't stop to catch my breath. I didn't dare to. Tears fell freely down my face but I didn't stop moving. I heard loud sirens from behind me and I guessed they must have noticed that I was gone.

I couldn't let myself get caught. Matteo and I had planned this escape for years. I couldn't let all of our efforts go to waste now.

Eight years ago, I had been thrown into this hell hole that people called prison. It was more of a torture dungeon than a prison. Eight years of my life was wasted here. I had been wrongfully convicted of murdering a high profile person. I was thrown into prison without even getting a chance to defend myself properly.

While in jail, I had hopes that my family would fight for me. That they would get a good lawyer to get me out of this hell hole. Everyday I was on my best behaviour, waiting for better news but I got none. After five years, my hopes were completely dashed. I then realized the reality of things, no one was coming to save me.

That was until I met Matteo. We were both on kitchen duty that day and we clicked like old friends. Matteo told me his story as well. Just like me, he had been wrongly accused and convicted of raping a little girl. I was a bit doubtful and skeptical of him. But then, we were already in prison, there was no reason for anyone to lie about the crime they committed or act innocent, everyone was boastful of what they had done to deserve their sentence.

Everyone but Matteo and I, then I started to believe him. He was in the same situation as I was. Matteo slapped me back to reality, making me understand that only I could save myself. No one was coming from me. And so three years ago we decided to plan our escape.

We acted on our best behaviour to gain favor of the guards so they would be more free around us and allow us access into restricted areas. Our plan was drafted out carefully and today, it was carried out.

We finally found freedom but Matteo was not willing to come with me. My heart squeezed in pain as I imagine the punishment and torture he would be put through for planning an escape with me.

"I promise I'll be back, I'll get you out of there" I whispered to myself.

After running for what felt like hours, I collapsed on the ground, breathing like a dog. My lungs felt like they were on fire and I desperately searched for water. Luckily I found a quiet lake nearby, there was no one around thankfully.

I drank the water and stripped my clothes to wash up. The cold water on my body calmed me down a lot and helped me clear my head so I could think better. I soon got out and started asking for directions to go home. I avoided crowded areas so I wouldn't run into cops who had probably been alerted about my escape. People stared at me like I was crazy but I couldn't care less.

After almost four hours of walking, I finally arrived at my family mansion. The sight of the huge building brought back memories. I swallowed bitterly and squeezed my palm. It had been over eight years since I saw any of my family and I didn't know if I was ready to face them. I wanted to know why none of them fought for me. Why none of them even bothered to pay me a visit. Did they really think I committed the murder I was accused of?

I made my way into Grayson garden, the place hadn't changed much. However, my steps slowed down when I heard voices. I stilled as I recognized those voices. I pushed forward to see two people sitting together. A man whose back was turned to me and a woman rested on him. She had curly blonde hair and bright green eyes that I would never forget.

It was none other than my sister, Livia and she was sitting on my fiance Adrian. My eyes widened in shock when I saw how intimate they were being and I felt even more confused. What were they doing?

They both seemed happy and fine, had they really forgotten about me. I was about to take a step forward to approach them but I paused when I heard Livia speak.

"I can't believe it's been a year already, my love" she said in her usual high pitched voice and I froze.

My love? Was she referring to Adrian as her love?

"I also cannot believe it, our wedding was the biggest and most lavish I had ever seen. And you were the prettiest bride ever" Adrian replied with a chuckle and I felt my whole world crashing down.

Wedding? Bride? My love? What in the world was going on here?

Warren’s POVEamon had the unsettling habit of speaking like time wasn’t pressing down on all of us.He moved slowly around the table, adjusting the stones that held the map flat as though he were arranging something ceremonial rather than tactical. Every instinct in me bristled at the delay. Lana’s fear still echoed faintly through the bond, not sharp anymore, but persistent—like a held breath that never fully released.“Start talking,” I said, voice tight. “Now.”Eamon didn’t look offended. He didn’t even look surprised. He simply folded his hands and leaned his weight back against the table.“Callen is not searching randomly,” he said. “He’s following fault lines.”Rowan frowned. “Geographic?”“Historical,” Eamon corrected. “Territorial scars. Places where authority changed hands violently. Places wh

Warren’s POVThe path narrowed as we climbed, stone giving way to packed earth and old roots that broke the surface like knuckles. I remembered this region only in fragments—a bend in the land, a familiar slope—but not enough to anchor it to a name or a pack. That unsettled me more than I liked to admit.Dark Silver’s territory should have been burned into my memory.Instead, it felt like a blank space where something vital had been ripped out.Rowan walked ahead of me, unhurried as always, staff tapping lightly against the ground. He had insisted on leading, claiming the terrain shifted more than maps ever admitted. I didn’t argue. My focus was already split.“This seer,” I said after a while, breaking the silence, “how accurate is he?”Rowan glanced back. “Accurate enough to still be alive.”“That doesn’t answer the question.”&l

Lana’s POVMoonbathing, I learned quickly, was less mystical ritual and more deliberate stillness. The clearing sat just beyond the houses, a gentle slope of pale grass surrounded by low stone markers that hummed faintly with old magic. Nothing dramatic happened when we arrived. No chanting. No sudden surges of power. Just the moon above us, full and steady, washing everything in silver light that felt oddly intimate, as though it were paying attention.Mara dropped onto the grass first with a satisfied sigh. “I forgot how much I missed this,” she said, stretching her arms over her head. “Actual rest without someone asking me to justify my existence.”Kael sat a little more carefully, folding his long legs and leaning back on his hands. “You say that like it happens often.”“It happens constantly,” Mara replied. “You just aren’t around for most of it.”I lo

Warren’s POVDistance was easier when the road demanded attention.I focused on the terrain, the shift of earth beneath my boots, the way the trees thinned and thickened as I moved farther from home. The farther I got, the quieter everything became—no pack chatter, no overlapping scents, no Lana watching me like she was waiting for something I didn’t know how to give.Traveling alone used to feel natural. Now it felt deliberate. My wolf stirred beneath my skin, restless and alert, not agitated but watchful in a way that reminded me of old instincts resurfacing. Leadership instincts. Protection. The kind that didn’t ask permission before settling into your bones.Alpha.The word still felt heavy, even after everything began to make sense again.I stopped at a clearing just before dusk, the sky bruised with the promise of night. Lana’s POVI found Warren near the stables, already half-packed and tightening the straps on his travel bag like he was afraid standing still might give something away. His movements were precise, efficient—too efficient. The kind of focus people used when they didn’t want to think.“Warren,” I said, slowing my steps as I approached. He didn’t look up right away. “I’m heading out.”My chest sank anyway. “Out where?”“One of the elders sent word,” he replied. “They want to speak to me privately. About Callen.”That name landed between us like a dropped blade.“How long will you be gone?” I asked.“Not long.” He finally turned toward me, his expression carefully neutral. “A f

Lana’s POVI found Warren near the training grounds just before dusk, standing at the edge of the clearing with his sleeves rolled up and his posture locked tight, like he was bracing for something that never came. The air around him felt colder than the rest of the park, sharper, almost clipped. For a moment, I just watched him.He wasn’t doing anything—no sparring, no pacing—but his presence filled the space in a way that made it hard to breathe.Alpha energy, my wolf whispered, faint but insistent. It was strange how obvious it felt now, like my instincts had been quietly catching up to something everyone else already knew.I cleared my throat.“Warren?”He turned slowly. His eyes flicked over me, paused for half a second too long, then shif

Eva's POV Just as I had pushed Ethan off me, my sight began to get blurry."Oh no" I mumbled, knowing that the drug Livia had poisoned me with was already kicking in. Eva's POV "Yes, Adrian, I'll take care of it"I heard a voice that made my eyes snap open. My head throbbed in pain, but more than the pain I felt from my head was shock. Eva's POV "The sooner you realize that I am saying nothing but the truth, the better it will be for you" Livia said while hot heavy tears streamed down my face."It's not true, it..." Eva's POV "You must think that I am a bigger fool than I already think I am, Adrian" I said to him in a cold voice, looking at him dead in the eye.
