Chapter 8: An Antidote

I could hear the loud footsteps of the nurse that was panicked upon seeing me in such a delirious state as I kept on uttering the same words over and over again in a horse voice while tears kept streaming down my face.

Meanwhile, Irene who was next to me was anxious and didn't know what to do. She could only comfort me awkwardly.

“It's not your fault. It wasn't your fault from the beginning. You don't need to apologize. It was your Uncle Ben's fault for being heinous. Don't worry, I will protect you. The Armed Forces will protect you and won't lead you to danger. Calm down and take a deep breath...” Irene softly said as her hands were softly caressing my hair as she helped the nurse to lay me down on my bed.

I saw the other nurse take out a syringe, making me scream in fright as I was trembling helplessly and hugging myself. The nurse herself looked surprised but then her eyes widened in shock upon seeing me muttering again.
