PRESENT DAY

“Oh God.” Selene groaned as she opened her eyes, once again in a hospital room.

What-“ the words caught in her throat as saw who sat next to her.

Ronan Blackwood was sitting there, leaning back in a chair beside the bed. His pose was composed, calm and controlled, the calm that might be frightening. He was smartly dressed, clean, and slightly scented with cologne. His eyes were fixed, and he stared at her, and Selene felt, as she had not felt in months, a kind of recognition, not fear.

Ronan Blackwood bent a little, and put both his hands on his knees. Selene, he said in a low voice, his voice was measured. "You're awake."

Selene attempted to move, attempted to push herself up, but her weakness pulled her down at once. "Wh... why..." Her voice was sharp and jagged, as metal rubbing metal together. The words were hardly discernible.

Ronan Blackwood held up a hand. "Relax. You're safe. I came to see you."

Selene's eyes widened. She remembered him. Her husband's best friend. The individual who never appeared to be reachable, not besmirched by the lies, the betrayals. And now he was there--composed, in her hospital room.

“Not fine I Never... had drugs... police... lied..." Her ravaged voice broke once more. She gulped, attempting to force the words down her throat, though they did not seem to come out as words at all, but as a scratching motor.

Ronan Blackwood's gaze softened. "I know," he said firmly. "I know you didn't carry drugs. I know you were framed. I have been following it since the day it occurred. They have put those drugs in your car. They set you up."

At his words Selene turned her stomach. "Who... did it?" whimpered she, the rasp scarcely intelligible. "Why...?"

Ronan Blackwood sat back a little, examining her. “That is what I have come to tell you, and in the first place I am going to give you something. An opportunity. A chance to get your life back."

The eyes of Selene were flickering with doubt and desire. "Opportunity? What... what do you mean? she managed to rasp.

Ronan Blackwood exhaled slowly. "I can get you out of jail, Selene. You don't have to stay there. You do not need to suffer any more. He stood still and looked at her. “I possess sufficient influence and funds to make it happen. You'll be free. One word from me, and all these gaurds would open those prison doors and escort you out.”

Selene sighed and shook her head. “Free? After everything? Years of mistreatment, months of being deprived of her life , months of the agony of being confined in that institution and tortured there? Could it really be possible?”

He went on, speaking in a calm and firm voice. “You will not only be free but you will have a new life. You will be a different person, different documents and nobody will be aware of your history. Your countenance will be rebuilt. The harm of the past, all that had made you feel inferior to yourself, can be repaired. Your voice... I'll get the best specialists. You will be able to talk and sing once more.”

Selene's hand shook on the bed. The cuff was biting into her wrist as she pushed it down. "Face... voice..." she rasped. The idea was nearly too many to think. Her chest tightened. She had a desire to weep, but the tears could not come easily. They were caught, as was her broken voice, in pain and fear.

Ronan Blackwood shook his head, feeling her indecision. And, he said to himself, you will avenge.

Her head lifted slightly. Her heart beat in her breast. "Revenge?" she mumbled , with her broken voice shaking.

"Yes," Ronan Blackwood said. “Your husband, and your best friend they both cheated you. They gave evidence against you in court. They framed you. They destroyed your life. And I can help you fix it."

Selene shut his eyes, and attempted to believe him. Her throat was on fire and she rasped, “Why... you?”

Ronan Blackwood smiled a little and his eyes remained alert. “I know both of them well, that is why. I was still faking that I was the friend of Garrick Thorne. I made him believe that I was on his side. But the truth is... I have been waiting to have the right time to ensure he is made to pay with what he has done.”

Selene's mind spun. She desired to put ask questions, so many questions, but her throat would not cooperate. Every word was broken, rough, painful. Rather, she gazed at him and his words sunk in.

Ronan Blackwood leaned back slightly. “I am giving you this not because I feel sorry about you, not because I think you are the one who needs to be pitied, but because you are the only one who can stop them. You have talent. You have skill. You have the drive. And you can bring them down with my aid, get all they took away out of you, and get your life back together again. You can make them pay for what they did to you.”

Selene's heart raced. Free. A new identity. Her face fixed. Her voice repaired. Revenge. Everything she had desired for years, all the things she had envisioned when she sat in that prison cell, when she was called 1165, when she was beaten, humiliated, and broken--could come to pass.

Ronan Blackwood stood by her, watching her, and his face was composed, but resolute. “I understand it is a lot to digest, Selene,” he said. "But I need your answer. Will you do this? Will you risk your life, to reclaim your life and have justice?”

  • REBORN AS THE BILLIONAIRES SECRET WIFE    Locked Entrances

Liora’s pov That night, rest slipped through my fingers like sand. Sleep never really settled in at all.Darkness brought it back, every single night. Not dreams - just words stacked into wounds. My title twisted by strangers, reshaped without asking. Gone, as if I’d never claimed it.As soon as light touched the sky, I was already moving.I started calling. That’s where I started, with the one who handled most of the tracks.Later came the person helping run things for the record company.Later came a pair of outside contributors meant to wrap up songs for the expanded version.A ring came through, stopped only when the machine picked up.Next came someone working support, saying they couldn’t talk because they were stuck in a conference callA hand lifted the third one, yet paused just so a voice could promise they’d return shortlySoon. My stomach turned at just hearing it.Back and forth across the floor, I held the phone tight, stuck inside four walls that didn’t care where I pa

  • REBORN AS THE BILLIONAIRES SECRET WIFE    Change In How Things Were Done

Selene’s pov From my laptop screen, I saw it all happen, silent the whole time.Liora’s name had spread far without warning.More like quiet than joyful.Nothing like what she had hoped for.It was messy.Fast.Uncontrolled.Open tabs spilled across the screen - news here, chatter there, numbers ticking somewhere else. All of it hummed together, too fast, like wires sparking under pressure. These days, my response isn’t what it once was.Not with shock. Not with hesitation.I just observed.Fear began to show through Liora’s public appearances. Interviews felt strained, somehow. Words came out clipped. Smiles didn’t reach her eyes. Each gesture seemed measured.Twice now, I’ve gone back to watch that latest moment she showed up on screen.Fingers trembling just a bit as the microphone touched her hand. One small thing made it clear. What mattered stood out without more proof.Back I leaned, the chair tipping slightly as fingers snapped the clip shut.Far off near the wall, Ronan tapp

  • REBORN AS THE BILLIONAIRES SECRET WIFE    The Shattered Figure

Liora’s pov Before the alarm sounded, I opened my eyes. That morning began without its usual call. For reasons beyond my choice. Beside me, the phone kept jumping across the wood surface. A constant shake that never quite quit. It started like any other day - alerts popping up, people saying they liked the new tracks, reminders tied to the record release. Then something felt off. Yet still, the shaking carried on. It kept going. Again and again. Half caught in slumber, I stretched toward it without rising all the way. A sudden glow came from the display. Dozens of alerts. Then hundreds. The air in my lungs turned heavy right away. Up I sat in bed, then tapped the screen to unlock it. A bright screen caught my eye right away. It showed a post from a well-known site that covers shows and stars. Beneath my ribs, a hollow plunge began, long before the last word came into view. I clicked it. The article loaded. Slowly. Too slowly. Cold crept into my f

  • REBORN AS THE BILLIONAIRES SECRET WIFE    The Quiet Conflict

Selene’s pov After shutting the laptop, the phrases still played inside my head. Though the device was off, letters lingered behind my eyes. What appeared briefly refused to fade completely. Screen gone dark, yet thoughts stayed lit. Even in silence, lines echoed without asking. The moment ended, but pieces stuck around. Not much said - still, it held on. “You’re not the only one hunting her.” Staring at the coffee, gone cold now, thoughts stuck on that one thing again. Ronan stayed nearby, quiet too, both of us just there without words. Not peaceful - this hush pressed harder than noise ever could. Out of nowhere, it snapped. “This changes everything,” I said. For a moment, Ronan stayed silent. Near the window he stood, eyes fixed on the road beneath, as if sorting through thoughts too heavy to name. His arms were folded tight across his chest. Only later did he turn my way. “It doesn’t change everything,” he said calmly. “It adds noise.” A small laugh slipped out.

  • REBORN AS THE BILLIONAIRES SECRET WIFE    The Watcher Come Back

Selene’s pov The lights flickered just as the notification appeared on my screen. A silence hung thick in the air while I stared at the words.A sound came from the laptop, just one brief noise that made me look up right away. Staring at documents had taken most of sixty minutes already - recordings here, online posts there, scattered details others tried matching together - all swirling behind my eyes.Forward motion came with each new detail. Step by step, the path grew clearer through what was learned. This time felt unlike anything before.A message appeared, but it wasn’t tied to someone I knew.No name.No profile picture.Just a message. For just a moment, my hands stopped above the pad until I pressed down. Then came the click.Heavy, the screen crept into view. The screen blinked awake. A window appeared.A folder appeared.I frowned slightly.Inside were documents.Audio files.Screenshots.For just a moment, my heart dipped low, as if my skin needed time to believe it befo

  • REBORN AS THE BILLIONAIRES SECRET WIFE    The Crack Widens

Liora’s POVMy hands began to shake once again, and I was still staring at my phone. The post was still there. That lyric. That exact line.I reloaded the page, although I was aware that it would not go away.It didn’t.The remarks continued to increase.Whence was this? This is not in her album. This is too personal.I rolled on more, my breath coming out at a lump.“No,” I muttered. “No, no, no…”I shut the phone and stood up and paced the room.It can not be so, I said to myself. “No one knows that line.”I had a tight feeling in my chest. It was no ordinary lyric of his.It was hers.Selene’s.I still had it in mind.Too clearly. We were in the studio and we were sitting on the floor and we were throwing ideas around with the notebooks open. She had uttered that line very low, as though she did not want to say it.I had laughed.I informed her that it was excessive.Too emotional.Too real. And now—It was online. My hands to fists. This is no accident, I said.I picked my phone u
