Elena sat in the front seat of the car staring out the window with unseeing eyes.

Somewhere around her, she registered Marco talking to the detective and answering questions about the location change and if they’d known about the bomb. She knew she should speak up.

Maybe tell the detective how every inch of her hated Marcel but she had never wished him death. She hated him so much, even now in his death. Did that make her a bad person?

“I don’t understand it,’’ Elena heard Francesca say to Marco in a low voice. “If he planted the bomb then how’d he die? What? He just forgot he was carrying a bomb and decided to chill in the warehouse till it exploded?”

“No, nothing like that. It was a time issue. They can’t be certain but from initial analysis, the bomb timer malfunctioned and went off earlier than programmed.
