SARA'S POV

Asher stood in front of my desk, hands crossed behind his back while alternating glances between me and Laila who was seated a few feet away from us.

"I think she can handle things by herself from now on," He said, clearing his throat as if there were more words clogging it, "You can pack up whenever you are ready to leave."

I didn't point out to him that I already had my things packed and ready to go and instead nodded slowly, "Alright."

He didn't leave immediately and his gaze lingered on me, almost as if he was sad to part with me. I could not tell for sure because sometimes his expressions could be difficult to read.

He could also have just been searching for any sign of regret on my face, something he could latch onto to make me change my mind about leaving.

Only I knew that nothing in this world could make me rescind my decision, not even if I was threatened with death.
