Chapter 15 • Dreaded brother Carlin Of all the people I never wanted to see at this moment. Threshold was one of them. His weasely smile, as always pissed me off. "What are you doing in my room, Threshold" I asked, my voice was filled with the same rage I had displayed with Delilah. Clarissa looked at me with concern, her vulnerable lips quivering into a question. If only she knew. "Since when have I need a reason to see my big brother." His silky voice replied. He got up from my bed and walked towards us. I instinctually held Clarissa closer. Threshold had a habit of taking things that weren't his. Just like how he walked around my room as if it were his. "Release me."Clarissa ordered and I quickly obliged her. Maybe I was beginning more of her pet. "You may refer to me as Clarissa. Now tell me what are you doing here?" Her voice demanded. And for the first time in the many years I had known my little brother, he hesitated for a moment in front of a female. "My lady. You'll h
Chapter 16 • Revelations Carlin The trees seemed to get thicker as we kept walking I led the way holding Clarissa hands in my tight grip, night was fast approaching and the sounds of frogs and crickets seemed to get even more louder. "What do you think it means," I asked myself, Clarissa looked at me confused. I stopped and waved my hand in a circle. "A story being retold. Our story." I looked at her deeply searching for an answer to this riddle. Her hand squeezed tight against mine. "That's what we're here to find out. To know who Lance and Amaya really are." Her confidence lifted my spirits, I decided right there and then, she would be my Luna and nothing would get in the way of that, not even my brother. Fireflies floated around us, their light illuminating our face, she smiled at them, her rosey lips opened so slightly, so seductive, I wanted a taste. I traced a finger across her lips, feeling her warm breath on it made me aroused that I feared I would take her in this fores
Chapter 17 • Moon’s secret Carlin The moon shone brightly on us as we followed the healer, Adele. For an old woman she moved surprisingly quickly, weaving through the trees with ease, we could barely keep up with her. “Slow down,” I muttered, my words were only a whisper. Offending her could be a grave mistake especially when she was the only one who could provide information for us. I turned to Clarissa, she too was struggling to keep up but she didn’t let it dissuade her, her jaws were set in fixed determination but even she stopped walking at a point. Adele moved on, not bothering to check if we were keeping up. I reached down towards her and helped her up. “Let me carry you.” The blush on her face was priceless and I thought she would decline my help but it seemed her natural stubbornness was fading. She nodded to me and I got that, exposing my back for her to climb on. I could feel her chest pressing on my back, I cracked a smile as she held me in a possessive manner and he
Chapter 18 • All seeing moon Carlin Have you ever felt at peace with the world, in such a way that it could only be described as supernatural. That’s what I felt when the moon’s light encompassed us. I could feel my worries fade away. And although I couldn’t see her, I knew Clarissa felt the same. And suddenly the light dissipated and what stood before me was a she wolf with silver fur that glowed in the dark, she had grey eyes that looked as though they were crafted from Twilight. Neither light nor dark. I could feel a connection between me and her, like mother and son. I looked at Clarissa who stood there wordlessly. Glad to know I wasn’t hallucinating. The wolf that stood before us was real. “Hello my children.” The mysterious wolf said. She had a calm regal voice that hinted at years of experience, a thought occurred to me that it was probably centuries. This had to be the moon goddess and none other. “Good evening moon goddess.” We both said in unison. We walked closer to the
Chapter 19 • Romantic inferno Carlin I never knew what Greg saw in Delilah, maybe he was bewitched by her beauty, ensnared by the rhythm of her body but I saw her for what she was, a bitch and at this exact moment, I could see that in action. I tried to temper my anger by reminding myself that this was just a memory from the past and nothing I could do would change anything. I watched them drag Lance and Amaya like dogs out of the chambers and into the dungeons but through it all they never stopped holding each other’s hands. The guards paid no heed to them, the only sound they made was their marching. Clarissa and I followed behind. She never stopped giving Delilah a death stare as we walked. “Clarissa, are you alright,” I asked meekly. She ignored me and continued her fixation on Delilah. I hoped that this didn’t bleed out into the present. I grabbed her to the side and asked again but this time my voice was more forceful. “Clarissa, are you alright? Wh
Chapter 20 Carlin’s P.O.V. I clutch Clarissa's hand tightly as we emerged from the forest, heading towards my pack's settlement. We had just communed with the moon goddess, who had revealed to us our past lives. We were also informed about the possible danger the consequences of reincarnation could bring. The healer who guided us during the process had informed us about the Hunter God, who we had also met during the communing. All these events left us worried and wondering what would happen next. I couldn't shake off the feeling of dread that had settled in my gut. Clarissa, sensing my apprehension, gave my hand a reassuring squeeze. I smile at her tenderly, grateful for the small comfort and we continue the walk out of the forest. As we near the park settlements, I can’t help but wonder how Clarissa and I would be able to interact with Delilah, should we run into her soon. Yes, there was already a minor feud between us, but this new reveal, would definitely change things.
Chapter 21Carlin's P.O.VI rush over to Clarissa immediately I get back, concern etched on my face."Are you okay, Clarissa, is everything okay?" I ask when I get to her.I could tell that Delilah had definitely tampered with the atmosphere.Clarissa nods and falls into my embrace. "Thank the moon goddess you're here"She smiles at me weakly but with relief. "I'm fine, Carlin. Delilah was just being... Delilah," she says with a sigh.I frown, my gaze shifting to Delilah, who was standing just a few feet away. "What happened?" I ask in a low tone, trying to keep the annoyance out of my tone. She gives me a brief summary of what happened, and I hold her tighter. "Let's focus on my father for now, we'll deal with that later" I say, feeling bad that I ended up causing her trouble. "How's he?""He's stable for now, but he needs rest and medical attention," she replies, laying a reassuring hand on his arm.I sigh in relief. "Thank you, Clarissa. I owe you one.""No need to thank me," sh
CHAPTER 22Clarissa’s P.O.V"Clarissa, we need to talk about Delilah," Carlin says, his expression serious."What about her? I was just about to meet you to talk about her too" I reply curiously."I'm worried. What if her obsession with the position of Luna drives her to make the same decisions from her past life?" he says worriedly."I understand, Carlin, but let's cross that bridge when we get there. For now, we can't say she would end up like her past self. Let's just keep observing her and be ready for anything that may happen," I reply, reassuringlyHe sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "Yeah, I guess you're right" he says and relaxes."I understand how you feel, Carlin, I feel the same way too; But that's the best we can do right now. We don't want to start a war over nothing," I say, placing a comforting hand on his arm.He looks at me, his eyes softening. "You're right, Clarissa. I just don't want anything to happen to you or to the bond we share," he says, pulling me i
