II

Alexander's POV:

Now I understand why betas will never reach the alphas.

Elijah's house is ten times bigger than ours. It looks more like a palace than an actual house.

The walls were painted with a light beige, and several frames were hanging on it. It seems like he loves photographies, and that he travelled a lot judging from all the different places and captures he had.

Some maids bowed to him and headed to the kitchen.

"You're here, sir." a man wearing a black and white suit arrived. He looks like an alpha butler.

"This is Alexander." Elijah introduced me.

"Oh, the slave." the butler smirked. "I'm Luke, the butler."

"I see," I answered. "If you have maids and butlers, then why do you need me?" I asked Elijah.

"I never said I needed you," he mumbled, making Luke laugh.

"You're just here because of the law," he added. "Luke will find you something to busy yourself."

"So, you're not going to use me to satisfy your desires?" I scoffed and immediately regretted asking this question.

Elijah stared at me with disbelief. "Who do you take me for? I'm not a desperate pervert if that's what you think. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to sleep." he added before going upstairs.

"What a bad start," Luke chuckled. "Want to eat something?"

"Poisoned food? No, thank you."

"You watch too many shows." Luke rolled his eyes.

They still haven't hurt me, but I can't trust them. How can someone ask a slave if he wants to eat? Isn't it suspicious?

"I need to find my brother," I said, thinking about Matthew.

I don't know where he is or who his master is. What if something bad happens to him? What if he hurts him?

Luke sighed and squeezed my shoulder. "I don't know if you'll be able to find him, to be honest. Most masters close their slaves inside the house, and they never see the light again."

This sure didn't help me at all.

"I don't care. I need to find him. I can't let anyone touch him." I mumbled.

"You can't do so unless you want to break the law," Luke smiled. "Let me show you around first."

I followed him as he showed me a lot of rooms, like the kitchen, the library, the hall, and my master's office.

"What about the room behind this door?" I pointed to a giant golden door on the other side of the hall.

"Oh, you must never go there. These are Elijah's brother's chambers." Luke said.

"He has a brother?"

Luke nodded. "A younger brother called Levi. The perfect opposite of Elijah."

"What do you mean?"

"If Elijah is cold and rude, Levi is very kind and sweet." Luke smiled. "I guess you're now wishing he could be your master."

I shook my head. "Kind and sweet is boring. I need someone to argue with." I smirked.

"Well, your actual master is the perfect person for it." he winked.

"So, what should I do?" I asked him while we were eating dinner.

Luke seems like a good guy. I spent only two hours speaking to him, and I feel like I've known him for so long. He's not too kind and not too rude, just my type. Plus, he's very handsome.

"As the butler, I have too many chores to do, and I'm getting tired, so how about we share? I'll do all the house chores and take care of the guests, and you take care of Elijah."

"Take care of what?" I laughed. "Are you crazy?"

"Well, you said you liked to argue, and this is the best opportunity." he chuckled.

I rubbed my chin and thought it was a good idea.

"By taking care of him, you also mean that I need to wake him up in the morning?" I asked.

"Exactly."

I smirked.

"Are you still not going to tell me your name?" Levi sat in front of Matthew, who didn't take pleasure of their meeting even though Levi acted very nicely toward him.

"Why do you want to know it that much? It doesn't matter to anyone." Matthew mumbled.

"It does to me," Levi said. "You will be living in my house, so I need to know you."

Matthew lifted his head to stare at Levi's eyes. He could see sincerity and kindness, but he wouldn't let such things win his heart.

He lost all his social abilities since his mother's death. The only person he talked to, or barely talked to, was his brother.

He was afraid to get attached to someone and lose them after like he lost his mother. She was killed by an alpha wolf and was thrown in the middle of the woods.

"Fine. My name is Matthew, are you happy?"

"A lot," Levi smiled widely. "So, Matthew, do you like tea or coffee?"

Matthew stared at him confusingly. "Did you forget that I'm your slave, or should I remind you? Stop acting like you're kind."

"But I'm not acting," the alpha pouted and got his face closer to Matthew, who flinched at this sudden close distance between them.

Levi realized he was making him uncomfortable and moved his face away from him.

"I'm sorry, it's just that your scent, you know..." he blushed, regretting to make himself look creepy in front of the newcomer.

"A beta's scent isn't that strong." Matthew furrowed his eyebrows.

"I know, but yours is kind of different, and I don't know why." Levi nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "So, you didn't tell me, coffee or tea?"

"I don't want any act of charity." Matthew faked a smile and went to his room.

"Why so rude..." Levi sighed.

The next morning, Luke woke Alexander up to do his chores. He prepared the leader's bath and his clothes. He also asked the cooks to prepare his breakfast and ate something before doing his hardest mission. Wake Elijah up.

The butler warned him of the hard task.

He kept staring around him. He had never been in such a large kitchen before. There were a total of five people working inside, and each one had a different position.

The interior of the kitchen was very modern compared to the one he had in his house. The chefs had at their disposal very sophisticated electronic devices and utensils he had never seen before.

Alexander crunched on his toast as he looked at a large jar on the floor below the marble counter.

He thought of a diabolical idea.

"Sir, can I borrow this jar?" he asked one of the cooks.

"Sure, but what do you need it for?"

"Oh, just for something personal," Alexander smirked before getting up to fill it with fresh water. He quickly cleaned the table and headed upstairs to the master's room.

He opened the door to be greeted by extreme darkness and a very strong smell.

"Ew, it stinks." he scrunched his nose.

He walked inside and opened the curtains and the window to ventilate the room, or rather the suite. He opened his eyes wide when he realized how spacious and well decorated the room was.

He was not surprised to see the dominance of black and grey inside the suite. The furniture was of a black wood, which was honestly very much to his liking. He thought it looked very modern and classy at the same time.

The walls were decorated with portraits of what Alexander guessed were famous old pianists like Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin.

He recognized them right away because he was a piano lover. He liked it since the day he went with his late parents to a piano recital when he was ten years old. He didn't have the chance to learn it because his parents weren't rich enough to buy him a piano or pay him a course.

Also, his father was opposing this idea because he wanted him to concentrate more on his training. He always told him that a beta's duty was to protect his pack and protect his alphas.

Because of that, Alexander spent his entire childhood and his teenage days in the fields, running to improve his endurance, and fighting with his companions to gain reflex and strength, and swimming to relax his body.

He woke up from his reverie when he saw Elijah still sleeping peacefully, covered with his grey sheets.

"Sir, it's 7 am you should wake up," he said, not hoping he would answer right away.

"Sir, can't you hear me? No? Okay then..." he asked and answered himself before taking the jar and positioning above the master.

"This is how you should wake up," Alexander mumbled with a smirk before spilling all the water on Elijah, making him jump with surprise and let out the loudest groan.

"Fuck!"

Elijah was all wet. The drops of water descended from his hair, and his silk pyjamas clung to his body.

"Are you insane?" he muttered with a furious tone, and Alexander tensed when he saw his eyes becoming red.

His mother always warned him not to get an alpha angry, but he didn't care. He wasn't going to lose to him.

"Moon Goddess!" Luke came running after he heard the groan. He stared him in disbelief and quickly took a towel from the bathroom and put it around Elijah's shivering body.

"Why cover him when he's going to take a bath anyway." Alexander scoffed.

The butler put a finger on his lips to shush him and helped his master enter the bathroom.

"It's just water, what the hell?" Alexander chuckled.

"No, it's..." Luke sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "Anyways, just go give this list to the chef, and this one to the gardener." he handed him two papers and patted his back.

"I'll help the master today."
