"Thank you for coming, detective," I said as we walked to the front of the apartment building. "I hope you uncover this soon."

Detective Morris, with a gentle and reassuring touch, placed his hands on my shoulders, locking eyes with me. "We are doing everything within our power to find out who is responsible for your father's untimely death," he assured me.

A heavy sigh escaped me. The progress of the investigation felt painstakingly slow. Why was it so difficult to uncover the person behind the accident that caused my father's death? It was as if every shred of evidence were wiped, and I couldn't help but wonder if his death was no mere accident. But who would want my father dead? I've never seen my father as a man who had enemies, even though I couldn't be so sure now, since he hid something as huge as debt from me and my mother. This revelation forced me to question how well we truly knew him. Was he involved in some deep shit? But he has always been a quiet man.
