CHAPTER 3: TWO MATES

Hearing that, Edric pulled himself from Mellisa's body and fell on the bed as his breaths were still all over the place. Sweat was still dripping from his forehead while on his face was a deep smile.

I wondered what was so funny about him smiling that wide. Maybe Melissa was too sweet!

I scrutinised him to see any sign of shame or fear that I had caught him cheating on me and bad mouthing me on his face but there was nothing on his face except happiness that I envied Melissa.

He kept smiling shamelessly while still naked in front of me. He didn't even care that I had never seen him like that before. 

All this time he had been lying to me that he would wait for us to get married so that we could have sex but now he was there busy having it with Melissa. 

How stupid of me to believe him! How foolish of me to ignore Shantel's sudden change of tone towards me! Maybe they all prepared to humiliate me today so that I could disappear and leave them in peace!

I turned my head and looked at Melissa who was now covered by the white sheets but still, there was no glimpse of remorse on her blue eyes. She was still smiling like her shameless man. 

Melissa's mother took me in when my family died against her family's will as her foster daughter.

Later on, the woman had to build a small house for me far away from their home so that she could live peacefully with her family without me coming between them as they couldn't stand me.

But she used to make sure I ate until recently when Melissa poisoned my food. That was when she stopped bringing the food because she also believed that I didn't deserve sympathy because I didn't die after the poison her daughter put in my food.

I heard that Melissa told her about the poison but when she came into my house, she found an empty plate with me sitting comfortably on my single chair in my small house without any sign of being poisoned. 

That was when she showed her true colours to me. She made sure to spread the news that the Alpha was about to banish me but was advised against it by his wife. 

It was rumoured that the Alpha’s wife foresaw the future so she advised her husband against it. 

But she made her husband write a restraining order that no one was supposed to be seen near my house and I was not supposed to be seen around other members of the pack. In short, my house was banished.

“Oh, who do we have here?” Edric asked, still smiling as he pretended to be surprised to see me there.

His eyes were still red, meaning he still wanted to f**k Melissa because I could see lust in those eyes of his.

“Honey,” Melissa interrupted, causing the man to soften his gaze while turning to her, 

“I thought she wasn't supposed to come here. She was restricted, remember?” She continued innocently.

“Don’t worry, she won't hurt you. I wouldn't allow that to happen!” Edric growled by the thought of her being harmed by me causing me to clench my fists in anger.

“How could you, Edric? All my life, I had only trusted you and only you but you have been lying to me all my life!” I didn't know where the courage came from but I broke my question to him. I needed an answer. After all, he was my mate!

“Darling, why is she that angry? I am so scared of her. Remember even the poison we put for her didn't kill her!” 

Wait, Edric also took part in the mission of killing me? I couldn't believe my ears.

“I-is what she is saying true?” I asked, sweat all over my face which I knew had been mixed with my warm tears. My make-up was already ruined by then.

“But I just helped you. You ones told me you wanted to kill yourself so I tried to make it easy for you!” So he had been pretending to love me and giving me hope in life? That he would protect me and take care of me when the training was over! 

How foolish of me to believe him! I was naive as they said.

He climbed down the bed and wore his pants in front of me and then walked to where I was, 

“Listen Edna, I am so sorry that you had to see us like this. I was to tell you about this after the coronation of the new Alpha!” Not only had I caught him cheating, I had also realised that he had been lying to me all this time, to add to that, he had the guts to cheat with my foster sister! 

No not anymore, they broke ties with me a long time ago, so she was nothing to me but my enemy.

“W-what are you saying?” I muttered as more tears came out. The tears that I had been hiding away from people so they wouldn't be satisfied that their actions affected me but it really affected me internally.

I was a walking dead. I died a long time ago, internally. 

But I tried to sound normal. I wanted him to at least defend himself. To at least give me the hope that he would be with me but that was not the case.

“I am saying, I was to announce to everyone after the coronation and after the new Alpha has found his mate that I found mine too!”

“W-what? That is impossible?” I jumped out of my wits by that while ruffling my well combed hair with my two hands. How was it possible?

“What do you mean by that? Aren't you happy for me for finding my mate now, Edna?” He asked with a slight shock on his face.

“You are my mate not hers!” I screamed at him with pain in my heart! How could he lie shamelessly about that? 

Mating was something that was to be respected and honoured as it was given by the moon goddess! The goddess of all werewolves! How could he shamelessly lie?

“I am not your mate!”
