[FIVE YEARS LATER]
KALE'S POV.
"You've been married for five years, but no sign of pregnancy?"
This was not the first time Watson, my father, had asked the same question.
I was really fed up every time Watson brought up Jessy's pregnancy that never happened. My marriage to Jessy had been going on for five years, but there was no sign of pregnancy from Jessy.
"We tried, Dad. You know..."
"You've been saying that, Kale, since four years ago," Watson interrupted, his voice becoming very stern-almost sounding like a threat.
I noticed Jessy's somber face after hearing Watson's words. I realized she was holding back her grief.
"Dad, can we not talk about this like it's a big deal?" I asked.
"Of course it's a big deal, Kale! The investors are hesitant to make you the heir to the company, you have no successor!" Watson replied.
I felt somewhat jolted after Watson raised his voice. The intensity of the tension in this dining room suddenly increased.
"I told you, I arranged your marriage so that both of our families' businesses would be profitable, but if-"
"Do you know how hard we've been trying to get a child, Watson?" cut in Jessy suddenly.
I saw the look in Jessy's eyes radiate sharp emotion towards Watson. Tears welled up in Jessy's eyes-and made me think she was trying to hold them back.
"You don't know that we've done everything possible, even to the point of IVF, but everything failed," Jessy continued.
My heart seemed to be stabbed after Jessy's voice sounded almost trembling. Secretly, I gritted my teeth as feelings of anger and indecision mixed together now.
"It's best if you don't understand anything, Mr. Watson, you don't have to say we didn't do anything," Jessy added more to her sentence.
Watson rattled the table until the sound of clinking cutlery startled us all. His jaw hardening on Jessy, he gave her a stern look.
"What are you saying? You mean, I'm stupid for not understanding all that?!" Watson's voice raised even higher.
Jessy did not answer. She just stood still and gave Watson a glare.
In this situation, my head was spinning. I didn't know which side to defend. I felt a sense of indecision choking me-on the one hand, I didn't want Jessy to be further tormented, but on the other hand, Watson was the owner of our family company.
"Hey, don't you know that I gave your family the benefit of your marriage to Kale?" Watson interjected.
"Didn't your family company almost go bankrupt? What do you call profit?"
I glared at Jessy's words.
"Jessy! Watch what you say!" I scolded, suddenly feeling my pride being stepped on. "You don't remember what my family and I have given up?"
Jessy seemed surprised by my snapping. She flinched for a moment, the tears she had been holding back falling down her face.
But I didn't feel sorry to see Jessy cry. For some reason, what Jessy said just now scratched my ego.
"You think you've given the world to me? Seriously?" Jessy asked with a sardonic smile.
Jessy stood up from her seat, equalizing her height with mine. I saw her raise her head despite the emotional look in her eyes.
"You don't give much of yourself to me, Kale! Just so you know, if I compare you to the other conglomerate men who want to be with me, you're inferior to them!" Jessy continued.
"JESSY!" Watson snapped at Jessy.
Jessy's words pierced me instantly. I suddenly remembered what I had said to Yvonne, my ex-wife, five years ago. I said the same thing Jessy had said to me.
My mind went blank in an instant. This was not an unfamiliar feeling.
Was this how Yvonne felt during the time I insulted her?
I couldn't believe that the woman I loved and made me leave Yvonne insulted me with such a degrading sentence.
Yvonne never did this to me-not once did she look down on me. Even when I preferred to give everything to Jessy so that Yvonne got nothing, she didn't get angry.
Reality slapped me hard. Jessy was so different than Yvonne.
Why... did I leave Yvonne for a woman who looked down on me?
"Are you insulting me, Jessy?" I asked trying to control my emotions. "I gave you everything you wanted, and now..."
"Yes, you did, but don't forget that my family also gave your company a huge cash injection!" Jessy emphasized her sentence.
"How dare you bring that up, Jessy! That was our marriage agreement!" I raised my tone as well.
Jessy immediately laughed wryly. "I don't want to bring it up because obviously you'll look inferior-"
The emotion that exploded in my chest made me raise my hand, almost throwing a slap at Jessy's face. Jessy's words were cut short after seeing my reaction.
"You want to slap me?" asked Jessy, her gaze looking disappointed.
I finally made a fist, then lowered my hand. I turned around to walk away from the dining room. I left Jessy yelling my name over and over again and swearing repeatedly.
I stepped into my room-the room I used to share with Yvonne. I didn't understand why my intuition brought me to this room.
"Gosh... how can I... have a child?" I muttered with a heavy sigh.
Something felt off as I thought about Yvonne. Despite my confusion, I stepped into the closet. I found the safe that I hadn't realized was there.
I opened the unlocked safe to find a document folder. When I pulled out the contents, I was stunned.
There were ultrasound results and a testpack with two red lines-positive for pregnancy.
"Yvonne... did you hide this?" I muttered.
I was shocked, but also gained a glimmer of hope. My body fidgeted for a split second, wondering why Yvonne would hide this from me.
I read the year of the ultrasound result: 2020. Five years ago, before Yvonne and I divorced.
That means...
"Yvonne didn't say she was pregnant with my child all this time?"
Yvonne's POVKelvin disentangled himself from Sarah's embrace, zipping up his pants with a nonchalant air, as if he was simply adjusting his attire, not just moments after being caught in the act of betrayal. His gaze met mine, and his voice dripped with venom as he sneered, "You know, Anastasia, for a woman as stunning as you, you're astonishingly naive. So blind to the truth that I never had any genuine interest in you from the start."Each word felt like a razor-sharp slice to my heart, the pain piercing and relentless. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall, wiping them away with a fierce determination.I would not give him the satisfaction of seeing me crumble. The shards of my shattered heart cut deep, but I stood tall, my eyes locked on his, my spirit unbroken."You finally admit it, you wretched bastard," I spat, forcing back the tears that threatened to spill."Oh, come on, you saw the signs, but I guess you loved me too much to give up on this worthless a

THEO'S POV. Cassie cried out in loud, heartbreaking sobs as she rolled over and buried her face in the pillow. She had no clue how she was going to make it through her life without Nathan, which will going to be awful.A week has passed. Ever since Nathan dropped her womb, it has been a hard week. Since Nathan left her in the hotel room alone, Cassie hadn't ventured outside of her apartement until now. She spent the remainder of the weekend hiding out there, drowning her sorrows in a combination of vodka and chocolate, with the odd ice cream binge thrown in for variation.Although she was so overused, a shattered heart knows no boundaries. She established a new nest in her bedroom and called in sick to work in the entire when it was a time to check out on the Sunday. This is how she found herself alone and in a pub on a Friday night. She was no longer fully alone since the air next to her began to stir. Cassie looked in the direction of the visitor. He was wearing a custom-m
THEO'S POV.I almost lost my mind after Yvonne told me something had happened to Jansen.Arriving at the nightclub, I barely knew what to do. I mean, I had no idea where Jansen was and Yvonne hadn't checked in since our last call.I was in the dance floor area, scanning my surroundings. The sea of people made it difficult for me to ascertain where Yvonne was. As I sneakily searched the entire room, my heart was beating very fast.My chest now felt tight with worry.I was almost at the brink of hopeless when I tried to recall Yvonne. For the umpteenth time she didn't pick up, her cell phone was inactive. What happened to Yvonne?Did something bad happen to Jansen too?"Gosh... where did they go?" I asked, looking around. My cell phone then rang.As I read the caller's name, I read the name 'Kale' on my phone screen. I frowned for a moment. Kale didn't usually call me unless there was important business about the family company or anything related to money.Although I was hesitant to pi
YVONNE'S POV."Yvonne... there's no Jansen here. That sobbing sound was a cell phone recording."I was speechless as Kale came over to me after searching the entire room. He handed me the cell phone that was still playing the sobbing recording."What? Just a recording? How could it be?" I asked in confusion while looking at the cell phone in my hand."Someone seems to have set us up here on purpose. This phone doesn't belong to you either, right?" asked Kale.I had nothing to say other than reacting like a fool. I just nodded my head with feelings of annoyance, confusion, and anxiety. My brain started spinning various things from this incident.Someone set the two of us up?Who? Jessy? Did Jessy make us both come to this room on purpose?"The only culprit is Jessy. She was the one who called me and told me that something happened to Jansen. But she didn't come here with me," Kale said, I could hear the annoyance in his words.Part of my mind denied that Jessy had gone this far. The ot
YVONNE'S POV.[JESSY: Your son is still with them. Don't you want to come right away? Hurry to VVIP room number 20!] [JESSY: I've already sent you the club's address] My heart was racing so fast it felt like it was crushing my chest. After my car stopped in front of a club, I quickly got out and ran through the VVIP entrance. My mind started imagining all sorts of terrible scenarios about what might have happened to Jansen. As I slipped through the crowd of guests, I tried to steady my breathing. The anxiety was tormenting my chest, making it hard for me to calm myself down. My phone rang as I focused on finding my way to the VVIP rooms. When I took out my phone and was about to answer the call, I saw the name "Theo" displayed. A few minutes ago, I had already informed Theo that Jansen had been kidnapped by an anonymous group. We were in separate locations, so we couldn’t come to the club together tonight. My ears were ringing from the loud music around me. I tried to step aside
