DAVIAN's POV

I followed the voices to the balcony. My mother and sister had offered to come over so they could keep Maliah company.

I leaned against the door and watched Harvey try to make small talk with my kitten but just like she had been for the past week, she just stared off into space and said nothing to either of them.

I was going to keep the news of Ronan's kidnapping from them but I was at my wits end with Maliah. There was nothing I did to make her talk to me that worked.

Shiro asked me to leave her alone. He said forcing her out of this place she had kept herself wasn't going to work but there was no way I was going to let her remain like this.

She had grown thin and pale because she wasn't eating well. I was scared and worried about her. For the first time since Ronan left for Japan, I was glad he wasn't here to see her like this.
