The phone rang just as Galen plopped himself down behind his cluttered desk.

In the months since moving in with Rachel, his cottage had become the unofficial headquarters of the asylum’s renovations and was now in use solely for that.

Glancing at his phone, he was surprised to see Enid Morris’ number. She didn’t phone often, having complete trust in him and his team to get things done, so this was quite piquing his interest. Ever since they succeeded in crossing over her mother and ridding the asylum of the dark spirit, the old lady had spent most of her time travelling, leaving the majority of her day to day business dealings to Anita to see to.

“Mrs Morris,” he answered,”so nice to get a call from you.”

“Galen,my dear. It’s been too long. How have you been? And Rachel? I do miss you so much. I know I have been tardy when it comes to checking in on you.”

“Before I do though,” Collette continued, while turning to Rachel, “don’t you owe Sophia an answer? The reason you joined her on this outing was to see if I would be truthful, was it not?”Rachel swallowed back her surprise. Why Collette’s question caught her off guard, was a mystery. Sophia warned her beforehand the witch was shrewd and cunning. She was probably on to their little ruse the moment they walked in.Rachel composed herself with a deep breath. “She’s telling the truth, Sophia. I sense no malice or deceit on her part.”Watching Sophia and Collette walk towards the house, Rachel finally allowed herself to relax. The morning had been eventful,to say the least. The animosity between the Alpha and the High Priestess appeared to be many years in the making, for more than one reason. Especially the one smiling her way.“It’s an experience, having those two in close quarters,” Beau laughed. “They hate each other passionately, but there’s also a deep and grudging respect between th

  • Rachel's Wolf   Chapter 68

Walking up the cobbled pathway in the garden, to where Collette Bellingham was gracefully reclining in the shade of a gazebo, Rachel felt strangely at ease, listening to Sophia explain to her in hushed whispers, of what to expect.“She’s extremely cunning and wise. Her powers have enhanced her wisdom over the years and she is, I daresay, the most powerful witch in the western hemisphere. Don’t be fooled by her stately appearance or age. She’s an adept fighter.”Rachel took it all in and then noticed a very attractive man attending to her, pouring her tea. Tall and elegant, with dark hair and eyes, he smiled warmly when he saw them approaching.“And who’s he?” Rachel asked. “He seems very familiar with her.”Sophia stopped mid-step and her voice dropped even lower.“That is her favorite grandson and heir presumptive, Beau Bellingham. Also, my former lover.”Before Rachel could respond, Sophia resumed their walk and when they entered the gazebo, Collette Bellingham perked up.“My, oh my

Opening her front door the following morning, Rachel was a little more than surprised, to see Sophia standing on her porch. The silence between them was uncomfortable, to say the least. How else would it be between them, after the bomb Sophia dropped the previous night? Melora was Vivianne’s daughter, a morsel of information Sophia had conveniently forgotten to share with them.Rachel nervously glanced back. She hadn’t heard Stefano at all yet. She hoped he was out for a walk. Sophia was the last person he wanted to see right now. His Alpha, his best friend, had a hand in the biggest betrayal of his life, and it was up to him to break the news to Melora. Rachel did not envy his conflict at all. No one knew how Melora would react, knowing she was the daughter of two bloodthirsty killers. Rachel prayed Stefano would be able to handle it. With everything going on, Sophia’s latest secret, only added to the seemingly insurmountable odds they were already facing.“I know I’m the last person

Rachel closed her bedroom door behind her and sat cross-legged on the bed as the wind mournfully began to howl outside, causing some branches to lash against the window. The night had been so clear earlier, but evidently, another storm was coming .She opened her phone and found the pics of Gustav Galen had sent. She hoped with everything inside her what she was about to do would work and lead to Gustav and Domenico’s safe return. Galen and Jax were beside themselves and losing hope with every passing minute. They needed a solid lead, one she would hopefully provide, tonight still. She’d left Stefano downstairs. He was still reeling from Sophia’s confession and was trying to figure out the right way to broach things with Melora. It wouldn’t be easy, but he was a quick thinker and she had faith he would make the right choice.Relaxing her body, breathing steadily, Rachel placed her hand over the picture of Gustav she’d chosen and closed her eyes. She relaxed her mind, feeling the tens

Galen sat on the edge of the bed, as the harsh fluorescent light on the ceiling, made a static noise, surely in the throes of death. The motel they’d found was dingy, but it would have to make do. Neither he or Jax were rolling in cash, and he would sooner go broke before asking Sophia to help them.He knew she would without question, after all, she was playing the concerned mother to the hilt, but after the phone call he had with Rachel a few minutes ago, it only strengthened his resolve to be wary of his long lost mother. He was in disbelief throughout the entire call. Sophia had really hidden Vivianne’s daughter in plain sight and fooled everyone in the process. Including Stefano, her alleged best friend. Galen couldn’t help but feel compassion towards Stefano. Sophia had thrown his life into disarray, something she seemed quite comfortable doing.Galen reached for the bottle of beer on the nightstand, swigging it down like water. He couldn’t get drunk, so that’s what it basically

A bulldozer couldn’t barge through the tension in the room, once Sophia was done recounting her story.Rachel nervously twirled her hair, finally working up the nerve to glance Stefano’s way. His anger was brimming beneath the surface and she feared he would shift and attack Sophia. His muscles were straining and his jaw was clamped tight in frustration. He balled his fists and Rachel could tell he was doing everything in his power to not unleash his wolf.Melora, was Vivianne’s daughter. Of all the things she’d expected Sophia to say, this was not one of them.“For two people who always strive to do the right thing, who never make morally grey choices, I can only imagine how little you both must think of me,” Sophia stated flatly. “Please, you have to try to understand why I did what I did.”Rachel choked and swallowed back a bitchy retort before finding her voice. She stood up, gently placing her hand on Stefano’s shoulder. He looked up at her, and nodded as he began to breathe deep
