Rain’s POV I laughed along with Connie and ShyElle as we playfully gave a merry goose chase to our mates. We teleported from city to city all around the kingdom always one step ahead in our game of hide and seek. I knew in my mind that Selwyn wouldn’t let me win this game for long. I hadn’t been back from the temple long enough for my mate to want to be apart again for any length of time. I also knew when he caught up to me he would make me pay for this game in the most delicious teasing way. However I wasn’t ready to get caught just yet. I teleported Connie and Shy to Jadeville again where we landed in Modley’s back yard. It was late so I knew that he and his family were all asleep safely inside his house. I wondered how Hugo, Rose, and Violet were doing? I needed to come in the day time and visit with them again soon. “ Rain I’m enjoying this game but I wonder how much longer we are going to play it?” ShyElle asked me with a smile. I knew her well enough to know that she was m
It was like waking up from a bad dream and losing reality for a few minutes. Then the fuzziness disappeared and the tragic news of my parents death settled back in my mind like a ton of bricks. My heart was forever shattered in this moment. Sadness was so overwhelming inside me I almost lost my breath. I was officially the last of my kind the dragon shifters that I knew of. We were a proud group of shifters who had walked the earth for centuries. Now I am all that stands between extinction or deliverance. Very few shifter clans ever join forces with any other but the dragons had always had the loyalty of the werewolves. Even now that war was surely on the horizon with the death of my parents at the hands of the werecats I knew what I had to do to maintain the wolves loyalty to me. I had to try and find my fated mate amongst the wolves. It was the only way because I didn’t know of any other dragons. I knew from generations past that dragons and wolves could crossbreed. It wasn't done an
I couldn’t believe my eyes as I stood there in the forest clearing hugging my sister. I thought she had been taken from me for good. I have cared for her most of her life after our parents were killed when Shy was a baby. The woman who stood back watching us was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her hair was a rich brown and her eyes were shining an electric blue almost like neon signs. She had to be a shifter for them to be glowing but as I sniffed the air to find out which kind her scent of fresh rain filled my nose. It drove my wolf crazy and before I knew it the word Mate came out of my mouth. I sensed that whatever she was the magic she radiated was definitely powerful. The woman stood taller than most men close to six foot but she would come to my shoulders I just knew it. I released Shy and asked her what happened all the while never taking my eyes from the lovely woman standing next to Shy. Shy explained about her run and the kidnapping and being attacked and backed in
I couldn't believe my eyes and ears as I sat on Selwyn's lap and listened to him talk. His face was gorgeous and chiseled. His eyes spoke volumes and held in their depths wisdom beyond my imagination. Then I almost let loose my dragon when he kissed me softly. His lips were so soft and warm and man could he kiss. I instantly kissed him back. I couldn’t help myself. He gave me my first kiss and I was excited. My dragon already felt the bondwith his wolf though he may not know it yet. I figured I had better explain how dragons bonded with a mate. I'm sure he didn't have extensive knowledge of dragons. Most shifters didn't because we were a secretive group of shifters. When our kiss ended I leaned back and smiled at Selwyn. This was my chance to tell him about the dragon mate bond. “ Alpha Selwyn I have something to tell you before we go any farther with this.” He stopped me with a look that said he was not pleased. I looked into his green eyes curiously wondering what I said to make him
The air was hot and sticky as we gathered by the border getting ready to hunt. I wondered if I should show Selwyn up front just how powerful I really am. I know he would never fear me but I wanted him to trust me. I also wanted to be able to trust him and his pack. Reya was clawing at my mind to get loose and protect her mate at all cost. I wasn’t about to shift right here in the center of the warriors. My dragon is not exactly small. I also knew that Selwyn and his wolf Maxim have a driving need to keep me safe so I couldn’t be reckless in my rage against the cats. I didn’t want him getting hurt because of me or my magic. Still I wanted to let Selwyn know that I can handle a good fight. I turned to him and whispered,” I have to warn you my mate that in a fight my looks change and my power is unsettling if you have never seen it. I don’t want to distract you while we hunt.” I could tell for a split second he was unsure what to expect but that he also agreed with me that the pack didn’
The fight was over and I was beyond shocked and amazed watching my mate run at my side keeping up with me. Her strength and magical power was epic. I was the fastest wolf in the pack and the strongest followed by my Betas Ray and Rod. We were all headed to the pack house to wind down. I mind linked more warriors to head back to their posts and keep a watch out for more cats. I knew once Alpha Talis got word about this defeat for the cats he would retaliate fast. When we reached the pack house I threw open the door and headed for my office knowing it was time to fill the beta twins in on my mate. Sooner or later I had to let them know my beautiful mate was the last dragon in existence that I knew of. I could feel the hesitation from my betas as they followed me into the pack house. It was obvious now after the fight that Rain was powerful and almost like a mix between an elemental witch and a shifter. I noticed the way my mate seemed uneasy around Ray and that also had my curiosity up.
I laid down putting my back to Selwyn’s broad chest. He was so warm I couldn’t help but snuggle back into him. I could feel his kiss on my neck and my mind began to race. I knew what happens between mates but I’ve never done that before. Dragons never touched anyone except their mates. The inner dragon would never except anything less than that. Selwyn made me nervous always thinking about what if I did something wrong. Dragons were affectionate only with their fated mates which to the dragon inside me meant Selwyn was our treasure. I felt sleep take him under and I let my mind wander to the possibilities of the mating ceremony. Would he honestly want to be branded by dragon fire all over his body? I know he wants me physically and I know our animals are bonded lock tight but still my mind wondered if the man would want me just as much. Being a powerful dragon shifter with ancient magic was one part of me but I was still a young woman with a few insecurities inside. I knew I wasn’t ig
I ran at full speed to the end of the tunnel bursting free into the middle of the woods on pack land. I was hoping Selwyn wouldn’t be mad at me for not waiting on him but I knew I wanted to be done with this and it would be easy to capture and return Ray to be punished by his Alpha. I followed Ray’s essence in the air and ran to the border knowing he was already running straight for Jadeville to hide. I also knew that Selwyn would be displeased with me leaving pack land without him but I didn’t have time to wait on him or Ray would get away. I also knew I could sense any trap that might be waiting. Ray knew enough about me torealize my strength and magic by now. I was just hoping he wasn’t going to sell me out to the cats. I slowed down as I reached Jadeville and kept to the shadows. I sent my magic outside of myself seeking Ray’s essence in the air around me. It didn’t take me long to find what I was looking for as I walked down the quiet streets of the small town. I ducked into the
