The Spirit of Amelia flew over the serene and beautiful planet below them. It was among the few sanctuary planets in what used to be the Hegemony, and was also deep inside of Godeater’s ‘territory’. The ship surveyed the land just beneath, which was a massive rainforest with a sweeping tree canopy.
Because it was so thick, the corvette’s sensors could hardly pierce through to scan the forest bed.
Thankfully, there was a wide, raging river close by that cut the forest itself into two. The river itself was filled with various schools of fish and amphibians. Its banks were also teeming with all kinds of life, from various mammals to insects and pests.

Back on the Yggdrasil, a few dozen officers and analysts were abuzz at their terminals. They all pored through various data on their screens and discussed their findings with each other eagerly. The tacticians by their sides formed their own notes and added their findings to the pool of information.In the very center of the small room was a low platform with a floor-to-ceiling tacmap on it. A dozen or so Einherjar battleships flashed into empty, pitch black space. As the galaxy swirled back into place, each of the crew in the ships themselves were suddenly filled with absolute dread.It was more than the creeping void that surrounded them - it was the ghost of the planet itself right next to them. Though it was pitch black just like some of the planets in the system, its gravitational pull tugged on their ships just the same.They all felt a pit form in their stomachs as they floated deep in the middle of Godeater territory. It was a sense of dread that seemed to grow steadily at time marched onward. It seemed to weigh extremely heavily, and pulled them all down further as a result.It was as though something tugged at their very being, closer towards Godeater itself.

The all-black Einherjar cruiser set itself down on a wide, grassy flatland that served as a makeshift landing pad surrounded by wide slate walkways. The ship’s extensive side ramps slid out and lowered to the ground even as its belt armor opened up and slid to the side. Once all was set, its bulkhead doors slid open beneath and revealed the throngs of people waiting inside.Among the first to head out were members of the CRCD, though they were less in a ‘work’ mode and more in a ‘sightseeing’ mode. Cheers erupted all across the bridge as the assault fleet’s attack on Godeater continued. Although it was only at a quarter of their original intent, it was more than enough to rip through hundreds of its many thousands of mirrors.Their sheer destructiveness left the planet’s outer satellite layer scarred and splintered all across the surface. The surviving ships of the Specialized Assault Force flashed into orbit around Yggdrasil Station. Everyone aboard seemed to have a pall hanging over their heads, like a deepening shadow. Most were quiet and morose as they angled their ships towards the station itself and entered its widening hangar bays.Elsewhere, deeper inside the station, a massive council chamber was filled with dozens of people. Some were First Feathers of the Corvus Republic, while others were officers of the Einherjar. The rest were members of the different former nations and organizations and allegiances, such as Imperials or Discordians.All came to represent their groups, or at least some version of it.Collectively, they referred to themselves as the Tribes of the End Times. Raijin faded back as the rest of the council continued their arguments. Many certainly wanted them to push forward despite the darkness, while the others simply wanted to disappear into it.No-one wanted to die, of course. But for some, the struggle was already insurmountable.She herself didn’t know which way to go. At first she believed they could weather Godeater, and survive between its shadows. But now? Now she wondered if Yggdrasil was the only thing left to them. Thanatos flashed into open space above Dendrus IV, just inside of its gravitational pull. Its all-black hull contrasted distinctly against the numerous mirror satellites that still covered the planet. Mirrors which immediately shifted their position and turned Godeater’s reflection towards the vast drogar devastator.As the mirrors adjusted themselves, Raijin split her nanite swarm and diffused into the ship’s circuits and modules and systems. That shard of her consciousness dove into the ship itself and connected to every node possible.Just as Freya filled the ship through a telepathic connection, so too did Raijin, albeit through a purely digital connection.
