Alyssa and Ralph left for the Eclipse Pack before dawn.

I wasn’t sure what she’d said to convince him, but I’d woken to a rap at my door, where Mrs. Manson informed me they were leaving and to say my final goodbyes before they went.

I bid them farewell at the front gate, treasuring the hard embrace of Alyssa’s hug.
