I couldn't believe it. Binta was out of bed. It made me begin to wonder how long she was at the entrance and how much she had heard. I was afraid because eavesdropping on the council meeting was a serious crime.

"And why do you say that?" He asked.

"If the island is at the mercy of Aljanan Daji, then we are doomed. She is dubious and never keeps to her promise," she explained.
