Derek's POV

“When are you going to tell her?” A wrinkle appeared on my clean-shaven face the instant Leo's words hit the earth.

“Tell who what?” I asked, still looking confused.

I hadn't said anything to Leo about anyone. So, you can imagine the dilemma his question had thrown me into.

“I don't know who… I can only guess. But one thing for sure is- there's a ‘she’ in the picture.”

He was so certain he wasn't missing out on the core point here.

Sometimes, his audacious feeling and the way he never ceases to make it known can be creepy.

The intensity of his gaze didn't falter. “Is that written all over me? Or can you smell it?”

With my gaze meeting his. I asked in the most pure tone.

He smiled like an elder who knows where the sun will settle.

“I don't have to smell you. But I can feel it. There's a second chance mate?”

How Leo gets to find out about this is not surprising, or maybe it is…

“You think so?” I inquired amusedly, trying to beg the question and laugh off the conversation.

Liza's POV “Amma, how did that happen?” “I mean, it was too sudden. I couldn't bring myself to decline.”“I can't even face him right now.”“He must have gotten a wrong signal from that reaction.”Then I took a firm pause.“But truthfully, it felt extremely good. I didn't want to stop. I can't believe I just melted like ice in the sun.”She listened and that was so relieving. Pouring out how I felt with the kiss. I never thought it'd happen.“So, you want it to happen again?” Amma asked me and though I wanted to say no, deep down I wanted to experience it again.“It's not about what I want Amma, it's about what needs to be done.” I tried explaining to her.“What needs to be done? Don't you think Chris is your new excuse?”What? Excuse? Why would she say so?“He kissed me without my consent! No permission whatsoever and you think I'm doing this because of some silly excuse?” My legs were on the ground, but they shook like jellyfish. Why am I anxious? As much as possible? I'm going t

“We never expected to see you grace us with your presence.” He chuckled saggily.“But I'm here in flesh and blood. Hale and hearty!” I laughed a bit loudly.“We are pleased to have you. I almost didn't believe it when I heard you're in town.”Really? For someone who has Liza's house watched constantly. That's rich coming from her.“You just reminded me of a popular saying. The walls also have ears. Isn't that so?” The expression on her face changed quietly into one filled with guilt.Receiving their message about hosting me was a bit surprising. But I think it's great since it could be used to my advantage.“Last time was epic, what brought you to our small domain?”Wine intoxicates! I can attest to that. After so many cups, Alex dared to ask me blatantly why I was there.I relaxed into my chair, legs crossed and eyes penetrating his soul.“I heard you've been mean to my friends. Is that true? Alex?”The tempo of my voice was raised in a high crescendo and it must have sent some dan

Leo's POV “You think he'll be fine all alone?” Lucil's concern for Derek made me smile.“Who do you take him for? Of course, he'll be fine. You just wait and see.”I'm more than certain Derek's going to make the right and best decision even though he's in a state of dilemma right now. It's okay to be confused once in a while. It helps to re-assess what really matters to us.“You're not bringing him?” Now, I wish Lucil would just keep shut without bombarding me with questions.“Yes… I'm not. He needs some alone time to figure things out and be refreshed. Why do you care though?”I couldn't help but be curious as to why he wanted to know if Derek was going on this voyage with us or not.“I care because I pity myself.”Pity himself? Lucil won't stop getting on my nerves. Sometimes, I wish I could see him physically, so I could knock on his head.“I heard that!” He growled.Do I care? No! I don't. Why do I have to go everywhere with him?The Moon Goddess should probably make it possible

Liza's POV “Amma, what was that?” I couldn't believe I could read minds now.“Seems your mother is more benevolent than you thought. She keeps showering you with wonderful gifts.”Wonderful gifts, my foot! I scoffed at the thought of that. The first gift has caused Zoe to be more wary of me. Putting out people to watch and hear every conversation I have with those who seek my audience.“But now, you can hear their thoughts and act before they do.” Amma chipped in.“Ohhhh… I didn't realize it's such a piece of cake!” I can't believe she's making it seem so easy.I've avoided the clinic for days. It's been hard controlling how this thing works.I just keep hearing thoughts that don't interest me. Now, I know how dirty-minded people are. You smile widely at someone and your thoughts are strangling them? What a pity. That is what Amma calls a gift.“Are you sure she'll show up?” For the first time today, Amma is showing a valid concern by asking this question. What makes me think she'd

Leo's POV “This is no place for the living!” I bawled “But you've kept him here for days!” Lucil shouted back.“I wouldn't have done this if he didn't deserve it. Would I?”But he went stack silent like a scared cat.I motioned to the guard who followed behind. He was quick to action as he emptied a bucket of water on him.“S***! What-” he choked on his words the moment he realised he wasn't alone.Like a child who just woke up from a deep sleep, he ran his chained hands over his face.“Sir… please, you've got the wrong person. I don't know why I'm here. I swear!”I hate it! Don't swear. It reeks of disloyalty.I snapped my fingers and Derek took action. Plugged the wire into electricity and pinched his body with it.He screamed in agony and shivered as a result of the exercise.“I don't have time, I would have loved to play with you. Do you understand?”“Yes… yes… yes… I… I… understand… Sir.”That's what I'm talking about. “If you don't comply? This exercise is going to keep happe
