Chapter 1

Lindsay Summer opened her eyes and looked around the familiar room from her memories.

She had truly traveled back in time.

She reached for the phone on the bedside table and checked the date. A slight smile appeared on her face.

She realized she had returned to a good time.

As she began to think, there was a knock on the door.

Lindsay got up to open the door and saw a handsome man standing there.

He immediately questioned her, "I called you earlier, why didn't you answer?"

Lindsay responded calmly, "I didn't want to."

This was her second brother, Oliver Harper, who was also her agent now.

Oliver was taken aback, clearly not expecting Lindsay to say that. He frowned, a bit impatient, and said, "Can you stop being difficult?"

Lindsay raised an eyebrow. "Can say something new? Stop always saying I'm being difficult. Aren't you tired of it? Because I sure am."

Since she had returned to this family, everyone from Grace Lowe, her mother, to her five brothers would always tell her to stop causing trouble.

Oliver was momentarily speechless. "Do you find this funny? Via wants to be on that variety show. Why can't you let her have it? Do you have to make the whole family unhappy?"

Lindsay looked at him coldly. "This is an opportunity I earned myself. I won't give it up. It's not my job to make you all happy."

She hadn't grown up with her family. When she was four, her fifth brother, Alex Harper, took her out to play, and he accidentally lost her. Afterward, the family adopted a girl of similar age and even gave her Lindsay's former name, Olivia Harper.

A year ago, the Harpers found their biological daughter, Lindsay, and brought her back home. But they favored Olivia and looked down on Lindsay. Whenever there was a conflict between Lindsay and Olivia, they would always blame Lindsay.

Previously, she had entered the entertainment industry. With her hard work and talent, she went from being unknown to becoming a third-tier star in just over a year.

After rejoining the family, they promised to look after her. They convinced her to end her contract with her old company and join the Harper family's entertainment company. They also switched her agent to Oliver.

Originally studying music, Olivia suddenly developed an interest in the entertainment industry and joined the company, with Oliver guiding her. In just a year, Olivia got all the top resources and went from being unknown to a third-tier star. However, Lindsay was only provided with opportunities that Olivia rejected.

Last month, Lindsay saved a director's wife and was offered a spot on a highly anticipated new variety show. Olivia also wanted to be on this show and subtly expressed her interest to Oliver. However, since the guest list was already confirmed, it wasn't easy to add Olivia in.

So, Oliver and the family suggested that Lindsay give her spot to Olivia. Knowing that Olivia was deliberately trying to steal her opportunity, Lindsay refused and was condemned by the entire family. Last night, after a heated argument, she stood her ground and returned to her room.

Now, Oliver showed up because Olivia was still unwilling to give up and had played the victim in front of him, making him come to confront Lindsay again.

Oliver took a deep breath and said, "I'll find you a better opportunity. Give this variety show spot to Via."

Lindsay scoffed. "I have no use for your so-called better opportunities. Save them for your precious sister."

She didn't want to waste more words on Oliver and closed the door.

Seeing the closed door, Oliver was in disbelief. This was the first time Lindsay had been so disrespectful since returning home. His face darkened, "Lindsay, you are impossible to reason with."

He knocked on the door again, but Lindsay didn't open it, forcing him to leave with a grim expression.

After closing the door, Lindsay felt no emotional turmoil. In her past life, she had longed for her family's affection and tried to please the Harpers after returning. She would prepare meals, give massages, and practice acting and dancing based on their requests. She always tried to meet their demands.

But in the end, she never gained their affection. During the kidnapping, apart from Richard Harper, her father, who was absent, everyone else chose to save Olivia first.

As a result, she was killed by the kidnappers. At the moment of her death, she completely lost all hope and severed her ties with the Harper family.

Unexpectedly, she was bound to a system that took her to various small worlds to complete tasks. After completing these tasks, she was rewarded with life points, which she accumulated to return to her current world.

Lindsay opened her right hand and looked at her palm. Her lifeline was very short, indicating that she had less than a year to live, only until the time she died in her previous life.

The system had told her upon unbinding that if she wanted to extend her life, she needed more people to like her. The more people who liked her, or the more she helped others gain admiration, the longer her life would be. It was like exchanging faith for life points.

However, liking her wouldn't negatively affect those people in any way. She wouldn't extend her life at the expense of harming others.

Survival was her priority now, and she had no time or energy to continue entangling with the Harper family.

Lindsay packed her belongings into a suitcase. She left behind everything the family had bought for her after she came to the Harper household.

She calculated the expenses incurred since her return and wrote them down. She also took out the bank card Richard had given her when she first came back, thankful that she hadn't used any money from it.

She carried her suitcase downstairs. The family was all sitting in the living room, and their faces turned displeased upon seeing her with her suitcase.

Grace frowned at Lindsay. "What are you up to now? Ever since you came back to our family, there's been no peace."

Lindsay found it amusing. "Did I force my way back? I remember it was you who brought me back.

"And what trouble am I causing? Olivia wants my opportunity, and I'm refusing to give it up—is that causing trouble? If you look at it the other way, isn't she and all of you the ones being unreasonable?"

Grace hadn't expected Lindsay to talk back, and her displeasure deepened. "Via just likes that variety show. You're now part of the Harper family, while Via has lost that status. Shouldn't you compensate her for that?

"And didn't Oliver say he would find you a better opportunity in exchange? Why must you compete with Via?"

Her third brother, Raymond Harper, added, "I think you just can't stand Via and are deliberately targeting her."

Her fourth brother, Brandon Harper, impatiently said, "Lindsay, can't you just behave and act like a proper member of our family? Why do you have to cause trouble?"

Hearing this, Lindsay would have felt hurt in her past life, but not anymore.

She laughed sarcastically. "It's incredible how you twist things to make it seem like I'm the one causing trouble when it's Olivia who wants to steal my opportunity. All of you really got no shame.”

She emphasized, "Firstly, I never took anything from her. On the contrary, she replaced me and enjoyed the Harper family's comfort for so many years. Secondly, you need to remember that you were the one who lost me in the past. I owe her nothing, and I owe you nothing, so I don't see why I should compensate anyone."

Seeing that Grace was about to speak, she continued, "If Olivia wants to be part of the Harper family so badly, she can continue being your daughter. I couldn't care less."

Grace was stunned, not expecting Lindsay to say such a thing. "What do you mean?"

Lindsay replied indifferently, "Just as it sounds. I'm cutting all ties with you and leaving the Harper family right now. From now on, we'll be strangers when we meet."

She added, "Once I'm gone, your beloved adopted daughter can continue to be the Harper family's precious princess. You won't need to worry about me taking anything from her or stealing your love for her. I'm doing you all a favor."

In the vibrant district of the historic town, the streets were lined with vintage boutiques and various artisan stalls. Lindsay's group visited the town’s administration office and rented a temporary booth.Alex and Justin eagerly borrowed a table and chairs, setting up the booth. Following Lindsay's instructions, they also bought a piece of white fabric and worked together to create a simple sign. The production team provided markers and other supplies.Lindsay glanced over at Benedict and said, "Benedict, I’ll let you handle writing the banner."She was eager to observe his writing and the energy he gave off while doing it.Benedict sighed inwardly—this girl was constantly trying to test him. After a moment’s thought, he nodded. "Alright, I’ll write it."He grabbed a marker, uncapped it, and wrote in bold letters across the white fabric: “Fortune Telling, Divination, and Tarot Readings.”Lindsay watched him closely, noticing the fluidity of his movements as he wrote, his posture exud

Justin added, "My mom’s been trying to get me to help Olivia and distance myself from Lindsay. She’s also said plenty of nasty things about Lindsay. This time, not only did I ignore her, but I even pushed back. It probably pissed her off, and now she’s taking it out on Lindsay."Alex, clearly upset, said, "You should talk to her and tell her to stop fixating on Lindsay. Lindsay hasn’t done anything to provoke her. It’s ridiculous."He was frustrated that Justin’s mom had been stirring up trouble, making Grace even more difficult to deal with.Justin nodded. "Alright, after the show is over, I’ll have a talk with her."He also felt his mom was acting out of line. Back when he liked Lindsay, her disapproval at least made sense. But now that Lindsay had kicked him to the curb, his mom’s continued obsession was baffling.Although they were speaking softly, Lindsay and Benedict, walking ahead, heard every word.Lindsay found the situation with Abby baffling as well. A woman who fawned over

After Lindsay left, the other guests quickly followed, leaving only Alex standing there awkwardly. He spoke briefly to the production staff, and they soon shifted the cameras away from that area. Alex then walked over to Grace, saying, "Mom, since Lindsay won’t lend it, let’s just drop it."Grace shot him a cold glare, her expression dark. "How can you be so heartless? The one lying in bed is your fourth brother. Are you hanging around Lindsay all the time just to learn how to be cold and ruthless?"Unable to contain her frustration toward Lindsay, Grace directed it at Alex instead.Alex sighed in exasperation. "Even if we need help, it has to be something she’s willing to do! We’ve wronged Lindsay enough as it is, so why do you keep trying to guilt-trip her? Brandon’s situation isn’t Lindsay’s fault. Why don’t you go find Olivia? She’s the one who caused all this, maybe she can fix it. After all, whoever’s behind her is no easy target."Right now, all Alex felt toward Lindsay was gui

Grace held back her anger and said, "It'll only take a few minutes. I have something important to discuss with you."Lindsay sat back down in her seat. "Fine, go ahead."The livestream was on, and Lindsay was fully aware of it—she was doing this on purpose.Grace was about to speak when her assistant whispered something in her ear. Her expression changed, and she subtly shifted her body to turn away from the camera. Then she looked at Lindsay. "Can we talk outside?"In her rush to find Lindsay, she had almost forgotten that this was a live-streamed variety show. She didn’t want to be on camera, much less discuss such personal matters in front of an audience.Lindsay, however, refused. "If it's important, say it here. If not, then don’t say anything."Grace’s expression darkened. "It’s because it’s important that we need to talk privately."She emphasized, "It’s not appropriate in front of the camera."Lindsay just smiled. "Unless it's something shady, what’s wrong with saying it on cam

Lindsay thought about it for a while and figured that if Grace was coming to find her, it was probably for Brandon. The only thing she could want would be the artifact in her possession.Alex saw her reply and couldn’t help but smile wryly. His sister was indeed sharp and saw right through it.He sent a voice message, repeating what the head of the Divination Association had told them. "Mom just wants to borrow the artifact from you to suppress Brandon’s condition."Lindsay replied, "Tell her not to waste her energy."Seeing that message, Alex knew right away that she wouldn’t lend it out. It didn’t surprise him—his sister could be ruthless when she wanted to be."We can’t convince her otherwise, not even Dad can stop her... sigh," Alex added. When their mom’s temper flared, she wouldn’t listen to anyone.Lindsay didn’t seem to care. "Then let her come. I’m not going to do her any favors."Alex recalled the conversation between their parents at the hospital and decided to warn her, "M

Recently, Grace had been spending more time with Abby, often meeting up for outings. Over time, Richard noticed that Grace's anger towards their biological daughter had deepened. Abby had always disliked Lindsay and showed more favoritism towards Olivia. She must have been stirring up trouble and egging Grace on whenever they met. With time, Grace was bound to be influenced.Grace, clearly annoyed, said, "You even want to control who I make friends with? Aren't you going too far? What's wrong with me getting along with Mrs. Ford and spending more time with her?"Richard felt cornered. "I just think there's something off about her. Her intentions in getting close to you don't seem good. That's why I'm trying to give you a heads-up."Grace didn't believe him at all. "I think you're overthinking it. We’ve always had a decent relationship. We’re just closer now, that’s all.""What do you men know about women’s matters? Don't interfere." She now had plenty to talk about with Abby. Jenny wa
