"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and take the water." A familiar voice startled me, snapping me back to my senses.

When I realized I'd been reborn, the sight of the water bottle and bracelet sent chills down my spine.

Those two things from my mother, Agnes White, and Thomas Haynes had been the reason my exam score of 1250 was swapped with Adelia's score of 600.

Not only that, my health had taken a turn for the worse after three days. I'd gotten a high fever and would even cough up blood. At the same time, Adelia had suddenly recovered from her stomach cancer. She looked so alive and healthy, unlike how sick she'd been before.

I'd held Mom's hand and begged her to take me to the hospital as the pain of the illness wracked my body.

Yet, Mom had flung my hand away and snapped, "You're just being dramatic! Do you think I don't know what you're up to, acting all sick right after Adelia recovered?"

Then, they had dragged me into the basement and locked me there.

After that, Mom held a celebration for Adelia's enrollment into university, ignoring me entirely.

I'd died a slow and painful death in the end, having been deprived of food and water.

After my death, Adelia got the university offer letter that should've belonged to me. She then officialized her relationship with Thomas, living the life that should've been mine.

Only then did I understand that Mom had given me a cursed bottle of water to swap my exam score of 1250 with Adelia's score of 600. The bracelet Thomas gifted me had been cursed to swap fates as well.

Both my exam results and my health had been swapped with Adelia's.

When I woke up again, I was back to the day when I checked my exam results. I stared at Mom and Thomas, who pretended to be nice.

I acted as if nothing was wrong, accepting the water and bracelet with a smile. Then, I left and gave the items to Jeremy, the school bully.

Jeremy had terrible grades and AIDS to boot.

Since they wanted to swap lives, I'd make sure they got what was coming for them.

He looked at Jeremy's body, then at Mom, who was trembling uncontrollably. His survival instincts screamed at him. He then prepared to run away in fear.Just then, the police arrived. "Police! Nobody moves!""Put down your weapons and raise your hands so we can see them!"Thomas quickly pointed at Mom with all his strength. "It's her! She's the one who orchestrated all this, sir! She's the one who planned this abduction! She forced me to do this. She forced me to!"He was sobbing wildly now, trying to put all the blame on Mom. Perhaps Mom was horrified by the cruel scene that had unfolded right before her earlier or the sudden appearance of the police, she swayed for a moment before collapsing like a deflated balloon. In the end, the police took us all to t

"Shut up!" Mom screamed after hearing my cries. "Yes! I was trying to get rid of you, you good-for-nothing bastard! "I wanted Adelia to have your luck and use your grades for her future! Who knew you'd give that bracelet to that filthy kid, Jeremy, and ruin Adelia! You ruined her whole life!"Mom was panting heavily as she glared at me venomously. She walked up to me and screamed, "The only solution now is to exchange your life with Adelia's! This is your fault! You should've worn that bracelet in the first place!"Every word dripped with venom. Finally, Mom pressed a cold blade against my neck.My nails dug into my palms behind my back as I watched this woman, whom I'd called "Mom" for so many years.Just then, a deafening sound rang out through the place. Someone kicked the front door down.Several figures stood in the doorway. Jeremy stood at the head while several fierce-looking men lingered behind him.The moment he came inside and saw what was happening, he snapped, "Abdu

Adelia locked herself in her bedroom from that day onward. She spent her days sobbing and cursing everything and everyone—me, Thomas, and fate itself.Meanwhile, her illness worsened faster than mine had in my previous life. At first, Adelia felt lethargic easily, then started coughing and having a mild fever. Less than a week later, she began having a high fever and quickly developed a severe skin rash.Once, when I left my room to get some water and passed by Adelia's room, I heard her moaning in pain from inside. "I feel terrible, Mom. It hurts to breathe. Everything hurts… Am I going to die, Mom? Please save me. I don't want to die…"Mom was terribly upset by Adelia's condition. She'd wanted to send Adelia to the hospital for treatment, but Adelia had refused again and again. Adelia was scared more people would find out she'd contracted AIDS. She was worried that Thomas would abandon her for good once she was officially diagnosed with the disease.Mom was convinced by Ade

I then looked helplessly at Adelia as tears began falling from my eyes. "I only gave the amethyst bracelet Thomas gifted me to Jeremy because I didn't really like it. How could that have ruined Adelia? What have you guys been hiding from me?"The moment those words left my mouth, all the guests turned from Jeremy to my mother."Did you hear what Adelia said? What did she mean by swapping her cancer?""And exam marks? What are they talking about?""Adelia doesn't seem to be lying…""Oh damn! This family is really complicated, huh?"As the guests were in a fervent discussion, I noticed Thomas was glaring venomously at me from a distance away. He looked like he'd swallowed a frog."Say something, Thomas," I choked. "Didn't you give me that bracelet as a gift? Why did Mom and Adelia make it sound like some cursed object? What is really going on?"All the guests turned to look at Thomas at once.He jerked violently after I questioned him. He then opened his mouth to explain himself

All eyes instantly turned to the bracelet on Jeremy's wrist. Surprised by the sudden attention, Jeremy sneered and waved the bracelet lightly. "Do you mean this? I have Rosalie to thank for this. I was pretty unhappy after checking my results the other day, so she gave me this to cheer me up. I did feel a difference after wearing it."Jeremy's brows immediately knit together. His face grew pale before he began coughing violently. When he checked his palm after the fit subsided, he saw that his hand was stained with blood.Jeremy was shocked by this. He then wrinkled his nose and scoffed, "Damn it! How unlucky is this? Why have I been coughing up blood lately? Weird."A low droning sounded in Adelia's head. Fear overwhelmed her the moment she returned to her senses. "No. That's impossible. This can't be…" she mumbled to herself. Then, she turned around to glare at me. "It's you! You did this, didn't you, Rosalie? That bracelet. You gave that bracelet to Jeremy! You swapped my i

As we approached the day of Adelia's enrollment celebration, I grew more and more ill. I coughed violently every single day and was unable to walk steadily. I even applied makeup on my face to appear ashen and weak.Adelia and Thomas would look disgusted whenever they saw how I looked. It was as if I were some terribly filthy thing to them.Mom would snap at me or insult me here and there, too. She'd call me a good-for-nothing and sickly burden that only dragged everyone down. After days of careful acting on my end, it was finally the day of Adelia's celebration. It was held at the grandest and most luxurious hotel in the country. There was a large banner with the words "Congratulations, my beloved Adelia, for getting into Dalton University!" printed on it.Mom was wearing a luxurious gown while holding Adelia close, laughing happily. Thomas watched Adelia with a tender gaze from the side. Meanwhile, I stood ashen in a corner in plain clothes. It was as if I were a mere outsider
