The Good Bye

Her heart jerked, and she couldn't breathe. Why? Why couldn't they take me instead? The last thing she saw was her father's dead body surrounded by a pool of blood before letting the darkness engulf her.

"Sleep my dear Fiona don't be scared, no one will ever harm you. I will protect you, my dear daughter, your mother will always be there for you!”

Fiona opened her eyes and saw her mother's beautiful eyes filled with love, while gently caressing her hair.

"Mama please don't leave me like papa, I know you missed him"

Fiona said with teary eyes, taking a deep sight her mother took her hands in hers and gave them a light squeeze, assuring her that she'd be here for her always and dropping a light peak to her forehead.

"Mama, can I ask you something?"

Fiona asked sweetly, her mother smiled wistfully and nodded her head.

"Papa is your soul mate, When did you meet him?"

Fiona asked slowly and a small smile played on her mother's

"When I was 18," she hummed softly.

"Mama, my mate loves me the same way papa used to do to you?"

Fiona asked again, her mother chuckled at her naive question.

"Yes my love, when your mate finds you, he will not be able to look away from you, you will be the key to his heart... I assure you”

Her mother replied and smiled her way and she smiled back.

"Now sleep baby tomorrow we have to leave this place, a new journey of our life is about to begin." She said and she nodded in approval.

She failed, and she again failed, she just always failed! She always tried but she failed again. She always wanted to ask her mother about them who killed his father and people mercilessly and why?

She lost her pack, her friend, her family, and her people. Why are she and her mother forced to elope from their territory?

They were strong, they didn't have any enemies, and they were happy!

She always shows her mother that she has forgotten about everything but she still cries remembering that night. She causes herself that her father died in front of her eyes but she could not do anything to save him. All she knows is that someone is responsible for that horrible night.

"Wake up my little world”

I grudgingly opened my eyes and looked up at my mother, as usual, she smelled like lavender. Her long curly brown hair framed her friendly and thin lips curved into a warm smile. She had green eyes just like me. She lovingly brushed stray hairs off my forehead and reached over to open my window. The melodic notes of chirping birds filled my room and the smell of freshly cut grass reached my nose, a sharp werewolf sensor could also smell the sweet scent of rain dew from last night's downpour.

I slowly sat up and before I asked I heard my mom's "Seven, hurry up darling I don't want us to be late. We have to leave immediately after breakfast"

She beamed down at me before standing up off the edge of my bed and walking through my bedroom door. “Fast"

Somehow I lazily got out to my bed greeted by the cold morning air. I walked to the washroom and brushed my teeth then took a quick shower. The hot water jolted me away properly. I dried myself off and wrapped my wet hair and went to my closet, I put on my undergarments and changed into a knee-length steel-colored pencil skirt and sky-blue shirt with black embroidery.

Then I went back into my room and took the towel off my hair and hung it up, brushing my hair. I left it down to air dry. After I was fully dressed, I applied minimal makeup with only a winged eyeliner and some nude lipstick. I turned around to go downstairs to my breakfast with my mother.

The day outside was bright and happy, vibrant and warm, yet the heat suddenly didn’t bother me anymore. I looked around my neighborhood and smiled. I would be taking all the good memories as I went. But as much as I was sad, truth be told, I was also secretly excited.

I didn’t know what it was, but I felt like something was waiting for me in Piedmont. An adventure was waiting to be lived; maybe, a mystery waiting to be unraveled. The little knowledge about the new feeling in me was all the more alluring, and somehow, secretly, I couldn’t wait to reach our new destination. My eyes are closed. I let out a deep breath and whispered, “I’ll miss you, home. Goodbye.”

"Fiona, sweetie!”

My Mom’s voice rang out to me like a fire truck’s siren. I instantly opened my eyes and walked out of the threshold, letting her lock the door and hand over the keys to our real estate agent, who had managed to sell our home for a very, very reasonable amount.

Leaving

She stared out the window and immediately took comfort in the forest she had been so accustomed to. By tomorrow, she will no longer be able to enjoy the view of the beautiful gigantic sequoia trees that surrounded her house. All her life she took comfort in the forest that had been her second home so saying goodbye broke her heart.

Fiona didn't know how to feel. On one hand, she would get to start fresh in a new town and leave the one that outcast her. On the other hand, she would have to leave all she has ever known behind.

The thing that made her the most nervous was going to a new school. She had been homeschooled for almost all her life. She didn't even know what to expect at a real school. She also had no idea how to make new friends. The only friends she ever had were the flowers that bloomed during spring, the ants that made hills in her backyard, and the finches that nested on her favorite angel oak tree.

Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when she felt her mother gently brush her hair with her hands and said,

"Everything is going to be okay baby girl. Don't look so stressed. Moving to a new place is exciting. Think of all the new friends you'll make."

Fiona looked at her mother and smiled. If there was one thing that was stable in her life it was the bond she had with her mother. It was the two against the world. When they were together, everything felt bearable.

"Hey, I've got something that might take your mind away, here take this book."

Looking at her mother's hands, which was an old book, and as soon as he took that book in her hands, the right side of her neck began to become incredibly itchy. As strangely as it appeared, it disappeared once she scratched it for a few seconds. However, her confusion did not last for long when her mother's voice once again rang in her ears.

"This place is-"

"So beautiful!" she cheered from the front, her wide blue eyes gazing adoringly at all the buildings.

"I was going to say old," Fiona grumbled under her breath but didn't bother trying to kill her mood.

Fiona looked outside the cab's back window and saw the forest become smaller and smaller. The trees no longer looked as beautiful and her tiny town somehow managed to become tinier. Each building we passed seemed to be carved from ancient stone and brick with vines covering more than a few of them. The streets even turned to pristine cobblestone the further we drove.

Fiona took one last glance before taking a deep breath and turning back towards the front of the car.

She had many new things coming her way. She had to let go of the past to embrace the new change in her mind.

She had many new things coming her way. She had to let go of the past to embrace the new and unknown.

If only the past could let go of her. Then maybe Newtown wouldn't have been the cage the dove was unknowingly flying back into where the starving tiger had been asleep for years and was about to wake up even more hungry than he was before.

"And like the moon, she had a side of her so dark.

that even the stars couldn't shine on it. She even had a side of her so cold that even the sun couldn't burn it"
