A cold blade against her cheek, the chilling laughter of her tormentor, and the devastating truth: Evelyn's unborn child is gone, and her own life hangs by a thread. Victoria, a woman consumed by a twisted sense of revenge, reveals a shocking family secret, claiming Evelyn's inheritance and orchestrating her death. As Evelyn's world shatters, a final, agonizing revelation pierces her heart: the life she clings to was a gift from the man she pushed away, Alexander. But just as hatred and regret consume her, Evelyn awakens, inexplicably alive, in Alexander's arms. Is this a second chance, a cruel trick of fate, or a rebirth into a destiny far more complex than she could ever imagine?

He Died for you

The cold edge of a blade slowly moved across Evelyn’s cheek.

The icy touch sent a sharp shock through her body, pulling her out of unconsciousness.

“Who’s there?”

She quickly moved away in fear.

But she couldn’t see anything.

Darkness surrounded her. Her eyes were covered with thick bandages, leaving her completely helpless.

Then, a cold laugh came from beside her.

“You’re really lucky, Evelyn. That car crash couldn’t even kill you.”

The woman paused, her voice filled with cruel amusement.

“But unfortunately, your baby wasn’t as lucky. Your stillborn child had to leave this world all alone.”

The words hit Evelyn like a bomb.

Her eyes widened beneath the bandages.

“It was you…”

Her voice shook with anger.

“Victoria!”

Victoria sat casually on the edge of the bed, turning the sharp knife between her fingers as if it were nothing more than a toy.

She laughed.

“You really are stupid. Did you honestly believe the car crash was an accident?”

All the color disappeared from Evelyn’s face.

“Victoria!” she screamed, her whole body shaking. “You evil woman! You already have Ethan! Why are you still doing this to me?!”

For years, Victoria had done everything she could to take Ethan away from Evelyn.

She had spread lies about her, ruined her reputation, and turned her into the woman everyone in the capital looked down on.

And now, she had even taken her child.

Now, Evelyn had become the biggest laughingstock in the capital.

And Victoria had gone even further.

She had arranged the car crash that killed Evelyn’s unborn child.

If someone had not donated a suitable heart and corneas to Evelyn, she believed she would have died too just like her baby.

Victoria looked at Evelyn’s pale face and smiled coldly.

“Didn’t you refuse to have Alexander’s child? I’m simply doing you a favor. Besides, once you’re dead, everything your family owns will belong to me.”

Evelyn’s blood boiled.

Her breathing became faster as anger filled her chest.

“You’re crazy! You’re nothing but an outsider. You have no right to inherit my family’s property!”

“Haha…”

Victoria threw her head back and laughed.

“Evelyn, you really are more foolish than I thought.”

She leaned closer.

“The truth is, I’m Dad’s daughter too. Your mother was the one who ruined my parents’ relationship all those years ago. Because of her, I became the unwanted child.”

Evelyn froze.

For a moment, she could barely breathe.

What?

How could that be possible?

Victoria watched the shock on Evelyn’s face and continued. Thankfully, your mother got what she deserved. She went to the afterlife with your shameless sister. That finally gave us the chance to take everything back.”

Evelyn’s mind went blank.

Then she screamed. Shut up! You disgusting woman! Don’t you dare insult them!”

“Hehe…”

Victoria only laughed “Go ahead. Scream as much as you want. This is your last chance.”

“Victoria! Are you insane?! What are you trying to do?” Evelyn’s heart pounded wildly. She tried to push herself up from the edge of the bed and escape, but she couldn’t see where she was going.

Her weakened body lost its balance. She fell heavily onto the floor.

Victoria slowly looked down at her.

The knife in her hand caught the light as she smiled.

“What am I trying to do?”

She stepped closer.

“I’m going to reunite you with your baby, your mother, and your sister.”

Her smile became even colder.

“They’re waiting for you.”

“No…”

Evelyn’s heart filled with terror.

She couldn’t die.

Not yet.

She hadn’t made Victoria pay for everything she had done.

She couldn’t leave this world like this.

Evelyn struggled to get back on her feet. The car crash only a week earlier had left her body weak and painful.

But before she could stand, Victoria pushed her back down.

Victoria’s eyes were filled with hatred.

She raised the knife.

“Die!”

The blade plunged into Evelyn’s chest.

It pierced straight through her heart, the very heart that had only recently been transplanted into her body.

Blood poured from the wound, quickly soaking through her blouse.

Victoria smiled.

“Just give up, Evelyn. You were never supposed to be alive in this world.”

Pain ripped through Evelyn’s body.

She clenched her fists and forced the words out through her trembling lips.

“Victoria… you’ll go to hell…”

Instead of becoming angry, Victoria laughed softly.

She crouched beside Evelyn.

“Evelyn, do you know whose heart and corneas you received?”

Evelyn could no longer answer.

Her body lay helplessly on the cold floor, her strength slowly disappearing.

Victoria’s smile widened.

There was something strange in her eyes, jealousy.

“Alexander.”

She paused.

“The man you hated so much.”

Boom!

It felt like an explosion had gone off inside Evelyn’s head.

Her confused mind suddenly became clear.

Alexander…

How could that be?

No.

It wasn’t possible.

Her eyes burned as she tried to lift her trembling hand toward her bleeding chest.

Was it really him?

Was the heart beating inside her chest really his?

Suddenly, everything made sense.

No wonder he hadn’t visited her the previous week.

Why had he been so foolish?

Why would he do something like that for her?

She didn’t deserve it.

She had spent so much time pushing him away.

And he had still given her his heart.

Victoria stared at Evelyn, watching the shock slowly break her.

Her smile grew wider.

“What a hopeless romantic. He actually gave up his life for you.”

She laughed softly.

“And what did you do?”

“You foolishly pushed him away.”

Evelyn’s chest tightened with unbearable pain.

A fresh wave of blood rose into her throat.

She turned toward Victoria and spat the blood onto her face.

Victoria screamed, “Evelyn! You idiot! Alexander must have lost his mind to give up his life just to save you!”

Her voice was filled with hatred. “ Since today is his funeral, why don’t you join him? You two can be together forever in the afterlife!”

A heavy thud followed.

Evelyn felt Victoria’s foot slam into her chest.

Her already weak body could no longer fight back.

Her breathing became slower and weaker until, finally, it stopped.

As her life slipped away, two things filled her heart: hatred and regret.

Tears mixed with blood slowly ran from the corners of her bandaged eyes, leaving dark red trails across her cheeks.

It was a heartbreaking sight.

If there is another life…

I will make Victoria pay for everything she has done.

And if there is another life…

Alexander, I will tell you I’m sorry.

Not once.

Not twice.

I’ll tell you a million times.

Rebirth

Hot.

So hot.

When Evelyn finally opened her eyes again, she felt as though her entire body had been thrown into a pool of boiling water.

Heat surrounded her.

It burned through her skin and left her weak, confused, and frightened.

“So hot…”

Her voice was barely a whisper.

“It hurts…”

She moved her hands around desperately, searching for anything that could help.

Then, suddenly, her hands touched something cold.

It felt like an iceberg.

The coolness instantly soothed the burning sensation inside her.

Without thinking, Evelyn grabbed onto the cold object and held it tightly.

She felt safe.

She didn’t want to let go.

The person she was holding stiffened.

Alexander looked down at the petite woman clinging tightly to him.

His deep amber eyes narrowed as he studied her.

Evelyn’s face was flushed bright red from the heat.

Her long eyelashes trembled softly, making her look almost like a frightened butterfly.

Alexander tightened his arms around her, pulling her closer against his strong body.

Then his low, gentle voice sounded beside her ear.

“Do you know who I am?”

Evelyn froze.

The familiar voice slowly broke through the fog in her mind.

She opened her eyes.

At first, everything was blurry.

But then she saw him.

That face.

Those amber eyes.

That man she had spent so many years pushing away.

“Alexander…?”

Her voice trembled.

“Is that really you?”

Tears immediately filled her eyes.

She reached up and gently touched his face, as if she were afraid he would disappear if she didn’t.

At that moment, Evelyn didn’t question anything.

She didn’t wonder why she could see.

She didn’t wonder why she was alive.

She didn’t even wonder why Alexander was standing in front of her.

She only cared that he was there.

Alexander stared at her.

“Do you remember?”

There was something intense in his eyes.

Evelyn’s tears finally slipped down her cheeks.

Without thinking, she whispered,

“I’m sorry…”

Alexander’s eyebrows drew together.

“Why are you apologizing?”

Evelyn didn’t answer.

Instead, she held his face between her hands and leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss against his lips.

Alexander went completely still.

The woman who had always avoided him was suddenly holding onto him as if she were afraid of losing him.

When she pulled back, she looked at him with tear-filled eyes.

Alexander’s expression became difficult to read.

He caught her before she could move away and gently held her against the bed.

His voice was low as he looked into her eyes.

“Evelyn…”

He paused.

“You were the one who tempted me.”
