Daisy’s Pov

The mud was freezing against my bare knees. My hands were tied tight behind my back, the rough rope cutting directly into my wrists with every small movement. The night air felt like needles hitting my bare face, but the cold inside my chest was much worse.

My inner wolf was completely silent, locked away by the heavy silver chain around my neck that burned my skin with every single breath I took.

We were deep in the forest, far outside the pack borders, where the trees grew thick and dark. It was a place where nobody would ever hear me scream, no matter how hard I tried.

Standing right in front of me was Cassian Blackwood, the Alpha-born male I was supposed to marry in just two days. I looked up at him, my heart hammering against my ribs, hoping to see a flicker of the man who used to hold me gently. But his face was a blank wall.

Next to him stood Victoria, my cousin, holding a flashlight that shone directly into my bleeding eyes. The bright light blinded me, forcing me to blink back hot tears of confusion.

"Please," I whispered, my voice shaking violently from the biting cold. "Cassian, why are you doing this? We are supposed to be pack. We are supposed to be family."

Victoria let out a loud, mocking laugh. The sweet, innocent expression she always wore around my father vanished completely, replaced by a twisted smile. She stepped closer, her boot swinging forward to kick wet dirt right onto my face. The grit got into my mouth, tasting of iron and earth.

"You were just born in my way, Daisy," Victoria sneered, her eyes full of pure hatred and years of hidden jealousy. "You always had everything without even trying—the Vanecrest bloodline, the wealth, the top rank in the family business. But after tonight, all of it belongs to me. Cassian prefers me now anyway. He always has."

She wrapped her arm around Cassian’s waist, leaning her body against his side. My stomach turned over with a sick feeling. I waited for him to push her away.

I waited for his wolf to growl at her for touching him, but he just stood there. He looked down at her with a gentle expression, then reached over to kiss the top of her head.

The sight fractured something deep inside me. I stared at the male I had loved for three whole years, the one I trusted with my deepest secrets. "Cassian? Tell me this is a joke. Please, just tell me it is a sick joke."

"It is not a joke, Daisy," Cassian said, his voice completely calm and level. He sounded like he was reading a financial report in a boardroom, not planning a murder.

"This was always the plan from the very start. Do you really think I could actually accept a weak wolf like you as my mate? It was all a setup to get close to your family's lands and corporate shares. You were just so desperate for love that you made it easy for us."

"You are a monster," I whispered. The tears finally spilled over my cheeks, hot against my frozen skin.

"Call me whatever you want," Cassian shrugged, completely unmoved by my sobbing. "In a few hours, the pack guards will find your car at the bottom of the deep river. Everyone will think you ran off the road in the dark. A tragic accident."

Fear gripped my throat, tight and suffocating. The reality of what was happening pressed down on me, heavy and real. I leaned forward in the mud, completely dropping the last of my pride. I did not care about looking strong anymore. I just wanted to save what was inside me.

"Cassian, wait! You can't do this," I begged, my voice cracking as I looked up at him through my messy hair. "I am pregnant. I am carrying your pup. It has been two months. Please, don't murder your own baby."

For a tiny second, Cassian froze. His wolf eyes flickered in the dark, and a small spark of hope rose in my chest. I thought the mention of his own blood would break through the ice in his heart.

Then, Victoria laughed again, louder this time, her voice echoing through the quiet trees. "Oh, look at her, Cassian. She is trying to use a fake pregnancy to save herself. How pathetic. She will say anything to stay alive."

I ignored her completely, staring straight into his amber eyes, begging with every ounce of my soul. "Cassian, please. Look at me. It is your pup. You know me. Please don't do this to us."

Cassian looked down at my stomach, his face unreadable for a long moment. Then, he looked back up to my face. The brief hesitation vanished, replaced by a cold, narcissistic sneer that made him look like a total stranger.

"It doesn't change anything," Cassian said softly, his voice dropping to a whisper. "If anything, it just makes things cleaner for the inheritance. I don't want any loose ends coming back to haunt me later."

My heart broke into a million pieces. The pain of the silver chain around my neck was nothing compared to the agony in my chest. The male I loved was going to kill me and our unborn pup without a single ounce of regret or mercy.

Cassian reached into his heavy jacket and pulled out a long, silver knife. The metal caught the light from Victoria's flashlight, shining brightly. He knelt down in the cold mud right in front of me, his knees sinking into the wet earth.

He reached out with a rough hand and gripped my silver-blonde hair tightly, pulling my head back so hard that my neck strained.

I tried to scream for help, to call out for my father, but my throat was too dry, and no sound came out. He pressed the cold edge of the silver blade directly against my bare skin.

Victoria watched with a triumphant smile, keeping the flashlight perfectly steady so he could see where to cut.

Cassian smiled, a cruel, wicked twist of his lips that showed his true nature, and sliced the blade deeply across my neck.

Hot, thick blood burst over my skin, soaking into my clothes and dripping onto the ground. The strength left my limbs instantly. My body went limp, slipping from his grip and falling backward onto the wet dirt.

As my eyes slowly closed, the dark forest began to fade away into nothingness, leaving me in total darkness and absolute agony.

Daisy PovThe heat between us was completely blinding, a roaring fire that made it impossible to think. Killian’s grip on my jaw was tight, his body pressing me flat against the cleared desk. Our lips were still locked together in that rough, breathless clash when a loud knock suddenly sounded on the door."Alpha?" Jaden’s voice came from the other side, sounding nervous and hesitant. "I am sorry to bother you, but I forgot the routing slip for the Vance file. I need your signature before the courier leaves."The outside world slammed back into the room like a bucket of freezing water.Killian froze. His eyes, which had been glowing with a wild, animal hunger just a second ago, suddenly blinked. He pulled his mouth away from mine, his breathing rough as he stared down at my face. I could see the exact moment his cold alpha pride came rushing back, wiping away the raw desire and replacing it with total frustration. He looked furious at himself for letting the fated bond break his tight

Daisys PovI opened the door to the main office, still feeling the heat from my fight with Brandon out in the yard. The room was large and bright, but the mood inside felt completely suffocating.Jaden was already there, standing near the corner with a neat stack of papers in his hands. He gave me a quick, worried look as I walked in, then turned his eyes back to the desk.Killian was sitting in his main chair, looking incredibly dark and quiet. He hadn't put on his suit jacket today, and the sleeves of his dark shirt were rolled up to his elbows, showing the thick muscle of his arms. His eyes snapped to my face the second I crossed the room, glowing with a strange, low fire that made my skin tingle. He didn't say a single word to welcome me. He just gave me a short nod toward the empty chair next to him. Before I could even sit down, the door behind me opened again, and our guest walked in.His name was Richard Vance. He was an older alpha who controlled the northern shipping lanes,

Daisy’s PovBeing stuck up in that penthouse was driving me crazy. After the massive blowout at the dinner table, the walls felt like they were closing in on me.Killian had drawn a line, choosing his business moves over my warnings, and I couldn't just sit around waiting for Victoria to make her next move. I needed to breathe. I needed to remind myself that I wasn't the weak girl who died in the mud three years from now.And if he wanted to fuck things up then he is an Alpha, he should pack his shit.I changed into a simple gray shirt and loose pants, grabbing a glass of water before heading down to the grounds. The sun was hot against my face as I walked out toward the training yard, a large dirt field surrounded by a tall metal fence. This was where the fighters spent their days, pushing their bodies to the limit. As I walked closer, the loud sounds of grunting and feet hitting the dirt grew louder. I stopped near the edge of the fence, resting my hands against the wire. The moment

Daisy’s PovThe entire dining room froze. Lana’s glass stayed stuck halfway to her mouth, and Logan completely stopped chewing. Nobody moved. Nobody even seemed to breathe. The shock in the air was so thick it felt like it was choking the room. Victoria let out a tiny, soft whimper from the end of the table, but I didn't look at her.My eyes were locked entirely on Killian.A painful sting hit the back of my eyes, but I refused to let a single tear fall in front of these people. The heartbreak was there, burning deep in my chest, but my anger was ten times bigger. He had just dragged my pride through the dirt in front of his entire inner circle, turning his back on our deal just to show me who was boss."The deal changed," I repeated, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper that cut straight through the quiet hall. I let out a low, bitter laugh, shaking my head as I looked down at his cold face. "You really are a fool, Killian. You sit up here on your throne thinking you see everythi

Daisy’s PovI barely slept a wink all night. Every time I closed my eyes, I pictured Victoria’s fake tears at the front gate, followed by that secret smile she flashed me right before the guards led her away. Knowing she was sleeping just a few halls down from me made my skin crawl. The moment the sun came up, I threw off the covers and got dressed in a hurry. I didn't care about looking perfect today, I just needed to look ready.I marched straight down to Killian’s office, my chest tight with growing anger. I didn't bother knocking. I pushed the door wide open and stepped inside, catching him just as he was picking up his suit jacket from the back of his chair. He looked up, his dark eyebrows rising slightly when he saw the look on my face. The air in the room instantly became warm, that wild pull between our wolves snapping tight between us like a live wire."You look like you're about to kill someone, Daisy," Killian said, his voice a low, lazy rumble as he set his jacket back dow

Daisy’s Pov The ride back to the estate felt different tonight. I stared out the window as the city lights blurred, feeling a sense of calm I hadn't known in a long time. We had hit Cassian where it hurt, and for once, I was the one holding the cards. When the car pulled into the grounds, the pack members who were milling about didn't turn away or spit on the ground like they had before. They still didn't wave or say hello, but the open hostility had cooled into something that felt like a grudging truce. I stepped out of the car, stretching my legs as the night air brushed against my skin. Lana was standing near the entrance, checking the logs on a clipboard. She looked up when she saw me, her expression unreadable. "You and the Alpha were gone a long time," she said, her voice blunt. "We had a lot to take care of," I answered, walking over to stand beside her. "I want to see the new guard rotation for the morning. If we are going to keep the perimeter safe, I need to know exa
