Grandma, she is my mate!

Rubly's POV

I frowned at the familiar smell that moved along with the wind in to the car. "It's that smell again."

That smell, I don't know if it belonged to person or it's just the natural smell of peaches. Though, I hated perceiving it, deep down I like it very much and really wanted to know what really smelled like that.

The smell felt familiar and at the same time felt novelle, lovely, refreshing and distant. I tried to think of where I must of have smelt it before but nothing came to mind.

'Was it my mother? No, she smelt like lavender. My grandmother? She smelt like fresh mint. Then it might be in my mother's garden, she had a lot of flowers there, I will….

"Mate!" My wolf yelled brashly, distracting me from my thoughts. I frowned and yelled at him to shut the hell up. Though I could perceive the smell that he perceived, there was no one on the road. We were in an empty street. Yelling mate was out of proportion.

"Mate! Mate!" He growled making me lose control. The smell of peaches that was getting stronger was also messing with mind. I lost control of the car, before I could gain control I hit a lady who appeared out of nowhere.

I got down quickly from the car and stood by the door staring at her small frame on the ground. She had a lot of blood on her body, especially her left shoulders, it had a thick patch of dark red liquid. The cloth must have been soaked for a while and I figured she must have been injured just a few minutes before the accident.

Looking at her, I felt angry, happy, hurt, sad and weird but most of all I was calm. The smell of peaches grew stronger as I approached her clouding my thoughts, my wolf was also getting excited as I got closer that he almost jumped out.

'Darius! Behave!' I screamed at him. He was getting on my nerves.

'Let me take over. This is our mate and she is dying, I can save her. Let me take over.' Darius was agitated. He didn't want his mate to die. This was his beloved mate.

"What mate?" I asked trying to taunt him.

'Your mate dufus!' He said crankily.

"She is not our mate." I said in a voice that sounded like a whisper.

This is the first time, Darius would be this active and willing to participate in something. He was always very uninterested except when my older brother, Busto was around. Is this the power of mating my father was talking about?

I couldn't get more angrier. The lady, that was invited sometime ago, said my mate was dead. Now, Darius is claiming this lady that just showed up from nowhere was our mate.

The smell of peaches was almost the only thing I could smell. I frowned at her. This lady may be trying to scam me.

"Miss, miss, are you alright? Miss!" I called out to her. 'You dufus, she's injured and she's going to die if you don't help her. If you are not going to help her, let me help her.'

My wolf was not letting me concentrate. I immediately shut him out.

"She is not dead right?" I asked myself.

"Help me" I heard her say.

Hearinb her say 'help me' soften my heart, her voice was so weak and powerless but still it was ethereal. It was magical.

Her voice woke up something in me, I felt a strange urge, to make her mine right there. My staring at her wasn't doing me any good as her smell, physique and voice I heard some seconds ago was messing my mind up.

'Stupid. Listening to me would do you some good. Wake up and stop dreaming. This is why I am stronger than you. Pick her up and get the hell out of here.'

"Thank you".

Thanks to Darius, I would have been out of it a second a go.

I picked her up and placed her gently in the back seat of the car.

The thirty seconds I heard her was the longest thirty seconds of my life. The feeling of hold her was so great that I wished I didn't put her down.

"Darius, are you certain she is our mate?" I asked Darius out loud.

'Are you?' He asked back, making me fall into confusion.

'You are asking me such a question. If she wasn't our mate, why did you fall into such a state earlier, huh?'

'I am sure you drooled at her. You couldn't even snap out of it and you are asking if she is truly the one. Let me ask, did you feel this way about Lynda or any of the girls your father had shown to you?'

The questions he asked sank into my head, I have never felt this way about anybody. Then, she must be the one. I looked at her through the rareview mirror and I felt a strange spark in my body.

'Yeah, there it is. Feel it dufus.'

Darius sarcastic remarks were the worse things to hear.

I drove quickly to my grandmother's house. She used to be a doctor when she was younger and she has a hospital like room in her basement.

End of Rubly's POV.

Author's POV

Rubly's grandmother, Madam Layla Galsworthy sat in her balcony sipping from a cup of mint tea when she saw Rubly's car come in with the speed of light. She stood up from her seat, dropped her tea cup on the small table close to her chair and walked out of the balcony towards his car.

Rubly came out of the car fast and rushed to open the back door of his car to get Lucia.

Seeing the blood on his shirt, Madam Layla rushed to hold him before he could open the door.

"Granny, what happened to you? Your shirt is filled with blood. You are bleeding, are you injured? Where are you injured?" Madam Layla held his hand and asked feeling and looking concerned.

She held him firmer and asked the questions on her mind. "Grandma, the blood is not mine." He replied trying to remove his hand from hers.

"But, but your shirt is stained with blood. Granny, you know you can talk to Grandma about anything. Tell me what happened. Was it Busto? Did you two fight? Where did he hit you? C'mon, Grandma won't laugh at you, talk to Grandma. Was it him?"

Rubly flung her hand away and held her hands to her side. He spoke to her softly ans calmly so she wouldn't stop him from opening the door again. "Grandma, she'd die if you continue to ask so am h questions. Let me…"

"She? Who's she?" She interrupted him again before he could finish.

"Grandma… Do you want her to die? Move aside so I can take her out of the car."

Madam Layla finally realized there was a lady in the back seat of the car, she seemed to be asleep.

"Oh my God, Rubly what have you done? What happened to her? Wait a minute, who is she? Did you kill her?" She started another round of questions.

"Grandma, help me out here and stop asking unnecessary questions." He growled almost yelling at her.

"Not until you tell me who the young lady is."

"Grandma, she is my mate!" He snapped at her.
