Unfamiliar Familiar Room

Lucia's POV

The brightness of the light was blinding, instinctively I closed my eyes. The brightness reduce gradually and I opened my eyes to see my surroundings. The first that came to my mind was to look for my family, my mom, dad and brother. I really missed them.

"Am I dead?" I asked myself quietly. My face was staring at a ceiling and I could not move at all, I didn't even dare to because I remember I was paralyzed before I died. I turned my head and looked around.

If I am right, this is a hospital room. What am I doing here? Or is there a hospital in the other world? Did the poison also affect my body in the after life? That girl is really viscous.

Then preharps my family found me and brought me to the hospital. Great, I will be seeing them soon.

But...

Something is not just right.

The room looked extremely familiar.

I looked around again.

Is the same room!

Before I died, I had a terrible accident with my elder brother, he lost his life trying to protect me and I lost my legs. The room I woke up in looked exactly like this.

The walls of the room painted white, my bed facing the medium sized window, the bathroom on the side of my bed and the door on the right side of my bed. The IV stand is on my left and a bed room lamp on right side.

Beside the bed room lamp, there was a long sofa enough for four people which Brittney usually sits on.

The room was unfamiliar and yet familiar to me.

I turned to the sofa and saw Brittney sitting there with her face buried in her phone.

What is she doing here?

Did she follow me to heaven to kill me again?

No! I must be seeing things. I closed my eyes and prayed she wasn't there. I chanted in my head for it to be unreal.

I forgot a very crucial thing. I spoke when I first woke up.

I opened my eyes again and she was still there, busy with her phone.

"Aren't I suppose to be dead?" I asked loudly without knowing that I just spoke.

"Lucia!" Hearing my voice, she turned to me and yelled out in joy. She rushed to me.

"You are awake." She said as tears rolled down her eyes. I was confused. Why is she crying now? Didn't she want me dead? I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"Wait, don't move. Let me get the doctor. I will go call him right now."

"Wait..." Before I could finish what I wanted to say she disappeared.

It was then I realized, I had just said something. It finally hit me. I can speak. I can really speak.

"Lucia."

"Lucia."

"Lucia."

It's true, I can really speak. I called my name a few more times to affirm that it wasn't all in my head. I can really hear my lovely voice once again.

But...

Didn't I die from poisoning?

A man in his mid forties wearing a doctor's coat entered the room with Brittney following behind him. She was really anxious.

I didn't say anything to the doctor, I allowed him do his thing while I thought deeply.

"Miss, do you any feel pains?" He asked interrupting my train of thoughts.

I was lost in my thoughts. I have already realized why I am still alive.

"No" I shook my head. "When can I get out of here?" I asked.

"Uhm.. Miss, we would have to carry out a few tests to be sure your health is now stable. The accident was really terrible. I'm afraid...."

"Accident! What accident?" My voice shook as I spoke.

"Miss, you were involved in an accident with your older brother five days ago." He answered me calmly.

Five days ago. I was involved in an accident with my brother.

My brother!

Isn't he supposed to be dead?

Yeah... He died like two years back before I got married...

My voice trailed off in my head.

It was a circuit got burnt instantly in my head.

I thought I had figured out everything but it was far from what I had figured out.

I had been reborn.

The moon goddess had heard her prayer and given her the second chance she said out of anger.

But...

Why didn't I come back a few days before the accident?

Wait, I turned to the doctor.

"So where is my brother now?"

Brittney who had not said a word came over to me and sat by my side. I didn't bother with her because I still have a long time ahead of me so I can deal with her later. I want to know how my brother is doing.

"Luci..." She called out to me softly.

"I'm not talking to you. Answer me how is he?" This time I spoke to her really harshly. I didn't bother with how she was feeling. I don't care right now.

"Miss, you are not feeling too good right now. Please you have to rest after the tests we will take you to visit him." He explained in a calm and soft tone.

With his explanation, I knew at once what happened to my brother, Linsly was no more.

"He's dead right?" I questioned the doctor directly.

Brittney gasped. She hugged me and sobbed wetting the blue hospital gown I was putting on.

I couldn't save him. Tears rolled down my cheeks without warning.

Why did I survive then? Why did I come back to this world if he was not going to be with me and protect me? He promised, I cried more.

The doctor shook his head. I knew he felt my pain from the look on his face.

I was not crying because Linsly was dead but because I didn't save him.

Linsly did not die from the accident, Brittney and Bryan killed him two days after the accident. I should have woke up earlier. Why did he wake up earlier than me?

Why?

"What time is the test scheduled for?"

"You can head to the lab when you are ready." I nodded at him. The doctor left after standing for a few seconds.

Brittney cried harder than me with her face buried in the crook of my right shoulder.

I don't understand. Why was she crying? Wasn't she the one that killed him? Didn't she want him dead?

The girl had a thick skin.

She had time to put on make-up and dress sexily when I was laying down on the hospital bed in coma. Some best friend she is.

"Brit, can you excuse me for a few minutes? I need to be alone." I spoke to her in an indifferent tone but still called her as I used to. There was no love attached to it neither was there anger.

She was shocked. She looked at me with her messed up face. After thinking for a few seconds, she nodded, stood up and left the room. She didn't even say anything.

The expression when she was calculating, didn't go unnoticed by me. This bitch. She pretends so well but they were a lot of loopholes. How come she didn't notice them back then?

Why was she that foolish?

Ah! I slapped my leg.

Well let's see who pretends more.

I laid back on the bed. I thought of everything that happened before, in my previous life. It's already happening in this life, just that they have not revealed their true colors and were still wolves in sheep's clothing.

They wanted to act to get my trust? Let's see who can act best.

I strode to the bathroom, changed out of the hospital gown and went straight to the laboratory in the first floor.

Author's POV

Brittney was shocked at the words that came out of Lucia's mouth. This little slut. How dare she speak to me in that manner? Just wait.

She looked back at Lucia who was staring at her. Tears were still rolling down her cheeks. Maybe she was over thinking it, the girl is still suffering from the pain of her brother's death. It won't hurt to leave her alone. At least I can get a little time with the doctor.

She nodded, stood up and left the room without a word.

Brittney did not know that Lucia was watching her the whole time while she was thinking of what to do and Lucia had already guessed why she left the room hurriedly without a word.

Brittney knocked on the doctor's door. She had retouched her make up and looked more beautiful than she did when she was sited in Lucia's room.

She looked around to make sure no body saw her entering the doctor's room but someone did.

"Miss Brittney, you are here."

She did not reply. She sat down and poured tea for herself. She took a mouthful and dropped the tea cup.

"Why did you say she needed to get some tests done?" She asked in a rather rude manner. She sipped the tea slowly.

The doctor felt a headache coming on. She didn't tell him what to say now she was asking why he said that.

"There's no other way to keep her in the hospital." He explained to her.

"Do you have the drug with you?" He nodded.

"I still don't understand why you didn't give it to her when she was unconscious or have you fallen for her?" This has given her a headache ever since. She tried to find out from him but the answer he gave her was questioning the authenticity of the drug. The drug was going to make her paralyzed but the doctor was saying otherwise. Does he even know his job? She frowned as she stared at him.

"Miss, I am telling the truth. If she had shown signs of waking up I would have given her the drug but she didn't. If I had given it to her in that state she would have died. I swear miss."

The doctor has never seen anyone as wicked as Brittney in his entire life. She has kidnapped his only daughter and used it to threaten him to do as she said. He doesn't know the drug that was given to him, he was still trying to investigate it but he had not been able to know the components the drug was made with. This made him very frustrated.

Someone else has also promised to rescue his daughter if he didn't give the drug to Lucia. The person had also told him that he had evidence of him receiving the drugs from Miss Brittney and had a way that get the evidence if eventually he gave the drug to the other Miss and would report him. That would be the end of his career and he would never see his daughter again.

This is indeed frustrating.

"You had better find a way to give her the drug else..." With that she stood up and left. Brittney walked out of the hospital.

Thirty minutes later.

Brittney walked back into the hospital with a bag in her hand. All the way back, she had been feeling like someone was watching her but there was no one.

Maybe she was overthinking it.

She walked into Lucia's room.
