Author's POV

Lucia stared at the guard listlessly. Did he not recognize her? She wondered. She only left this house five days ago and the guard don't seem to recognize her anymore.

She didn't know all the guards but they sure knew her, Lucia Abbott, the Princess of the Abbott family. She stared at the words on the gate, it still read 'The Abbott Mansion', she looked back at the guard.

"Miss, I'm asking you politely to get out of here. This is not the place for any tom, dick or harry. This is the Abbott family mansion." He warned harshly.

The driver stared at Lucia and the guard a few times, he didn't know if he should leave or continue to ask Lucia for his fees. He did not want to get in trouble with these guards else he wouldn't know how he died.

He got into his car and drove off without sparing Lucia a glance.

Lucia watched him leave quietly. She looked back to the guard. "I am Lucia Abbott, don't you recognize me?" She asked him solemnly.

"You are Lucia Abbott?" He asked back with a shocked expression on his face.

Lucia nodded at him. She had just thought about the worse but now it seems it was not that terrible, she was just over thinking.

The guard didn't not waste any time, he turned around and went inside.

A few moments later, he came back hurriedly with a gun in his hands. He didn't ask her anything, he just shot at her immediately.

Lucia could not react on time and was shot in her right shoulder. She was shocked. He really did not know who she was. Before the guard could shoot at her again, Lucia ran away without looking back.

The guard sneered and went back inside.

"The guards must have been changed. It's only been a few days since the accident, right? Brittney!" She muttered to herself as she walked, not paying attention to where she was going to.

She had underestimated Bryan and Brittney. She was aware she had been given a dose of the drug that caused her paralysis but it was a tiny bit and can not be effective yet to cause lethal damage to her.

The change of guards was really surprising to her. In her past life, she had no idea about the change of guards.

Well, she wouldn't have been able to find out because she came back from the hospital in the family car, she was also in a wheelchair and she never interacted with any of the guards at the gate, not that she knew them personally. So, she never knew the guards were changed.

What a beautiful life she had!

Lucia didn't know she was already at an intersection, she was losing a lot of blood and her sight had become blurry. She walked forward slowly and haphazardly, the pain from her shoulder was getting unbearable.

In the next minute

Screech....

A loud piercing sound was heard from the road.

Rubly got down from his car and ran forward, he saw a girl lying on the floor with blood all over her. He became scared. He didn't see her coming at all. How did she appear here all of a sudden? He stared at her, thinking if he should run away or help. He was not sure he had really hit her because he was driving slowly and the blood all over her was not from this accident.

Was she a scammer?

He walked towards her gently. He called out to her gently as he approach.

"Miss, miss, are you alright? Miss!" "She is not dead right?" He asked himself.

"Help me" He heard her say. Heeding to her call, he picked her up and left.

He just hopes she isn't one of those scammers, hoping to get money from him.

Author's POV

"Lucia..." Brittney walked into the room smiling. Seeing an empty room, she frowned.

Where did she go? She dropped the bag on the small table and left the room.

She suspect that Lucia must have gone for the test the doctor told her about earlier. She strode to the doctor's office.

It's time he does what she wanted else she'd kill that tiny little daughter of his.

Brittney and the Doctor met at his door. He was about to go look for Brittney, when she opened his door from the outside.

"Miss, I was just about to look for you." The Doctor said.

"Oh really? You have finally concluded on doing what I asked right? That's good, that's good." She smiled and sat down.

"No, Miss, Miss Lucia is missing."

Brittney stared at him with a smile on her beautiful face. She broke into laughter.

"You must be kidding."

"No Miss, she is not in the hospital at all. I have checked the surveillance cameras, she left in a taxi few minutes after you left."

Slap!

Brittney gave him a tight slap on the face. This doctor was so useless. How dare he?

"Show me the surveillance now!" She matched out of the room furiously.

The Doctor ran after her, he knew he was done for this time. If they were unable to find her, his daughter would be gone also. He was not even sure he would be alive after all of this.

Brittney watched the surveillance videos without a word. A million thoughts filled her head immediately. She didn't know which of her thoughts were true. But one thing was sure, Lucia would go back to the Abbott Mansion.

She took out her phone and called Bryan, she told him everything that happened. She left the hospital and went straight to the Abbott family mansion.

Hearing what happened, Bryan rushed to the Abbott family mansion too. He drove as fast as he could. He got to the mansion in thirty minutes. When he got there, Brittney was already there. She was seated in the living room, with a guard kneeling in front of her.

"What's going on?" He asked, walking inside majestically.

"He not only drove Lucia away, he also shot her."

Bryan almost lost his footing when he heard what she said. He did what? He shot her? "Is she dead?" He asked.

"No, she ran away. She must have suspected something. Bryan, I'm sure, she must have discovered something."

Brittney was sure that Lucia knew about something but she was not sure what exactly Lucia knew.

"She doesn't but she might be suspicious now. We have to find her and convince her that what she is suspicious of is not true." Bryan was more cleared headed than Brittney.

"I don't think she is just suspicious, she knows. Earlier she asked me to leave the room when the doctor told her that Linsly was dead. Lucia I know would never have done that. She clearly knows something." She said as a matter of fact.

"Do you know where she is now?"

"How am I supposed to know that?" She asked back angrily. She wanted to kill the guard in front of her. This was not the first time a person came to the mansion and said she was Lucia Abbott.

Since the day after Lucia's accident, different girls have claimed to be Lucia Abbott, trying to fool the guards. These incidents have been reported and the girls were dealt with after, this was the first time the guards acted out of instructions.

They were supposed to call her and tell her all about it but they didn't, they instead too action on her behalf. What right did they had to do that?

How was she going to explain to Lucia that the guards were trying to scare off fraudsters?

Bryan held Brittney and led her out of the Abbott family mansion. He couldn't figure it out on his own but he knew who could help him do it.
