LOGINSharon looked at the message on her computer.
At this time do not trust anyone.
No name. No picture. Simply a number that is unknown.
She gripped the telephone tightly. She hurried to call back.
Call failed.
In her last life, she never got this message.
Was it a warning? Or had someone else returned as well?
She deleted it. She didn't have time.
Thirty days. This was her only inheritance.
Thirty days before the Supermarkets were raided.
Clean water was more valuable than gold 30 days ago.
Thirty days prior to when the streets were filled with the infected.
She went to her banking app. Her savings were at zero. Insufficient to live.
She knew what she had to do, however.
She called her private banker. Sell everything, sell all my shares, now, "Liquidate everything.Sell everything, sell all my shares, now,
Mrs Carter all of them? Some are long-term -"
I don't care about long term, she said, cutting him off. There will be no long term, so do it now.
Next was her closet. Designer purses, jewellery and watches Michael had purchased her to keep her quiet.
She accepted the diamond necklace from them after they had been married for three years. It once meant love. Now only meant stupid.
She put it in a box. Sell everything.
After an hour, she was in the largest wholesale supermarket in the city.
Her list was long: Rice. Flour. Sugar. Salt. Oil. Canned meat. Canned vegetables. Instant noodles. Beans. Pasta. Milk powder. Bottled water.
The things that people always forget till the last minute: Batteries. Candles. Flashlights. Solar panels. Gas cylinders. Generators. Fuel. First-aid kits. Antibiotics. Painkillers. Bandages. Portable water filters.
She pulled the car over and glanced around to see if anyone had spotted her, and quietly said, "Spatial Storage.
In her mind, a blue interface emerged.
[Spatial Storage System]
[Available Space: Unlimited]
[Time Flow: Frozen]
She retrieved a water bottle and concentrated. It vanished.
She went in the area and looked around. There, the bottle was motionless.
Sharon smiled. “It will make things much easier now.”
She took her cart into the store. It turned out that one cart became three. Three became ten. Staff started staring.
Ma'am, do you have a plan to open a restaurant?
"No."
Why do you need 200 bags of rice?
"I like rice."
She purchased all such items that had a long shelf life. If her carts had become full, she would push them into an empty corner and wait until no one was looking. A thought, and all had vanished: rice and cans and oil and flour, and all gone to her storage. The carts were left empty once again.
Then she came back for more.
At dusk, she had supplies to stock a number of warehouses. However, this was just the start.
Medicine was harder. Pharmacies inappropriately questioned. So she ordered different medicines from five different medical suppliers under various names and instructed them to deliver to temporary godowns that she rented for a month. She placed orders of medicines from 5 different medical suppliers under different names and told them to send to temporary godowns to which she rented them a month ago.
When the delivery men left, she moved all the boxes of them to her space. Antibiotics, surgical masks, gloves, syringes, disinfectant.
She was physically tired, but she had found herself a safe place. She returns for the first time since her return.
After that her cell phone rang.
Michael.
She rang it three times and then she answered. "What?"
Why you haven't showed up all day? said he in irritation.
It's none of your business.
"You're acting strange. Still mad about Lisa? What caused you to request divorce?
Sharon's voice was like ice. I don't love you no longer.
Silence. After that, his tone turned steely. "You'll regret this."
“No Michael,” she said softly. "This time, YOU will."
She hung up and drove her car off. It was while she was on a trip that she noticed it.
Black car in front across from the building. Someone inside. Watching her.
Her fingers gripped the steering wheel.
There was no motion in the car.
Then her cellphone rang.
You're purchasing the right things.
Her blood ran cold.
Another message.
However, there's something you're missing.
Another one.
You will need to have a safe place before Day Zero.
Slowly Sharon turned her gaze back to the black car. The driver started to lower his window.
As she was about to see the face inside, the car hit the gas and disappeared among the cars.
Sharon was terrified and couldn't move.
There was another person who was aware of the apocalypse.
A new person had come into being.
And they had just found her.
Sharon read the message.AND ALEX KNOWS WHY.She looked up slowly.Alex was there, several feet away.Watching her.Not Michael, not Lisa.Her."Sharon?" Alex said. She walked towards him."What do you know?"Alex's expression did not change."About what?""Play along with me."She held up the phone.Alex looked at the screen. For the first time since arriving here, Sharon couldn't read his expression.Michael inched closer."I told you something was wrong with him,"Alex turned to glare at him."No one asked your opinion."Michael stiffened as Sharon raised a hand."Alright,"She studied Alex's face."Answer me."He said nothing. His silence was answer enough."I knew.""I suspected.""You knew.""I suspected.""It isn't the same?""It is."Alex stepped closer."I don't know why they came here.""What do you know?"Alex looked back at the broken gate."They weren't behaving like normal."Sharon furrowed her eyebrows."What aren't they doing?""They weren't chasing anyone,Alex pointe
It was dark at the resortThen came the footsteps. There were hundreds.Sharon's heart raced. Even though she could no longer see the forest, she could hear itThe swish of branches; the squish of leaves; the guttural growls reverberating throughout the blacknessMichael stood frozen at the gate with Lisa clinging to his arm"Sharon let us in!"Sharon looked at him through the darknessThey were the same hands that led her to death in his previous life, the same voice that convinced her that Lisa was more importantAll he wanted now was her help. She almost burst out laughingAlex came up beside her "Don't open the gate.""Alex Knight?" Michael asked"What?""You know me?""I know of you."Michael hesitated."That's not what I asked."Michael said nothingAlex's gaze became icy "Who told you about this place?"Michael turned away "I don't know what you're talking about.""You came here with no working phone network, during a blackout, and when the city's roads have been blocked off. S
The lights died.Sharon froze. For a few seconds the only noise that could be heard in the resort was the wind beating against the windows. Then came the scream. An elongated, distorted sound pierced the air from somewhere outside the resort.Sharon's hand tightened around her weapon.Alex was already at the window."Stay inside."Sharon shot him a glare."Don't tell me what to do."Then don't get yourself killed."Nevertheless she moved to stand beside him.Outside the world was consumed by darkness save for the emergency lights that flickered around the entrance gate. One of the lights failed and went out.Sharon's stomach twisted into a knot. She knew this feeling. The silence before everything goes to hell.In her past life the first night had been oddly devoid of noise. Everyone had stayed in their homes, watched the news, and believed that the government would take care of the problem. But then the screams had started. And by morning entire districts had been emptied. This was di
Sharon eyed the message again.DAY ZERO BEGINS IN SEVEN DAYS.She couldn't understand how that could be it.Seven days. She had been preparing for thirty. For thirty days of shopping, thirty days of reinforcing the resort walls.Thirty days before the world went down the toilet. But if the bastard's message was true, then everything was different.Sharon turned to Alex."Who told you about the infected case?""My security team.""How reliable are they?"Alex's expression darkened"Very"Sharon turned away from him.In her previous life, the reports of the first infection had come slow.A weird sickness, with high fevers and aggression, followed by death. And then the bodies began to move. But the government covered it up.Hospitals were overcrowded, news networks reported a virus, and by the time people realized what was happening, it was too late.Sharon had been caught completely off guard. This time, she wanted to make sure that she wouldn't be.If Day Zero was truly seven days awa
Sharon stared at the message on her phone.DON’T TRUST ALEX KNIGHT.Her fingers tightened around the device. The black vehicle had disappeared from the road.Alex was gone too.But his words remained in her head. You’ll find out.Sharon walked back into the old resort that had been empty for a long time, and then she locked the big heavy door behind her.She took a look at the security cameras that she had set up just that morning.Nothing.The road was empty. The forest was silent.Yet something felt wrong.Someone had been watching her.Someone who knew about the apocalypse.Someone who knew she had been reborn. And now that person was warning her about Alex.Sharon sat at the kitchen counter. She didn't trust the message. But she couldn't ignore it either. She just couldn't bring herself to trust Alex, and that was the problem. In her previous life, Alex Knight had been one of the most powerful men during the apocalypse. You heard his name a lot on the news for a while at first.Bi
Sharon didn't sleep. The ideas in the messages persisted in her mind. You are purchasing the correct items. You're forgetting something. You should have a safe place before Day Zero. The one who sent them knew all.She was on the verge of her bed looking at the lights of the town. In 30 days those lights would die. The roads would turn into battlefields. The hospitals would turn into slaughterhouses.Only those who had prepared in advance would survive.Sharon already knew which place she would go.A disused resort, set outside the city. Thick concrete walls, underground rooms, private well and one road in. During her previous life, it was too late for any survivors and they killed one another for it.This time, it would be her first to own.Her phone buzzed. Her banker: All shares are liquidated. She checked her bank account. More than enough. She dialed the agent's number. I want the resort. I'll pay cash and I sign this day.---She was 3 hours later standing inside the property! I
