Chapter 5: The Initial Plan

The entire night, Emma found it difficult to sleep. Early in the morning, she woke up to find that she was late, hastily grabbing her phone.

"Damn it, why hasn't David contacted me?"

Emma thought David would get in touch eventually, but there was no sign of any communication from him. Annoyed, she tossed David's black card into her wardrobe before heading downstairs.

"Miss, where are you going?"

The butler was already there, waiting for Emma. She had returned from studying abroad just a few days ago. Mark was on a business trip at the same time, so they hadn't had a chance to meet. Though Emma, having come back to life, knew Mark was lying, she paid no attention.

"I'm going to the company."

"The master said you should rest. Tonight, we need to meet the young master Mark's family."

Hearing this, Emma furrowed her brows, looking around to ensure no one was present before turning to the butler.

"I know, I'll go to the company and talk to my father."

"Yes."

Finally, after Emma spoke, the butler allowed her to drive out. Emma had a reason for going to her father's company. Currently, Emma held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Green Group.

While driving to the company, Emma noticed Lily coming out of a restaurant. She quickly took a photo with her phone, paused for a moment, and then saw her future husband stepping out from there as well.

"Mark, you really are careless."

Emma smirked with contempt; in her mind, she had long had her own plans. She believed that in this reincarnation, she could take revenge on Mark. Lily, originally Emma's college friend, had become an unexpectedly famous actress. They were close during Emma's time studying abroad in France.

Emma arrived at the company, dressed in a black suit and sunglasses. She walked confidently into her father's company. Emma also had shares in the company; in her past life, she entrusted everything to Mark after getting married.

"Where is Chairman Green?"

The secretary greeted Emma with a bow, then walked beside her. Emma handed her bag to the secretary.

"In the office, Chairman Green is in a meeting."

Emma walked to her office, which was managed by her father. Her father only assigned her to work at the family company because he was afraid she would suffer if she worked elsewhere.

"Look into the young master of the Jones Corporation for me."

Emma took out her business card and handed it to the secretary.

"This...," the secretary beside her felt that Emma was different. Emma used to be gentle, but now her dressing style had changed. Especially, Emma exuded a certain level of coldness that made others apprehensive.

"Just investigate it," Emma said.

"Yes," the secretary followed instructions. Emma joined the company as per her father's request, but she had her own plans. She intended to work at the Jones Corporation, making the William and Jones corporations compete against each other.

"What?"

Emma's father couldn't hide his surprise when he heard her say that. Just after finishing a meeting, he found Emma waiting in his office.

"I can handle two things at once."

"Why do you want to go to the Jones Corporation?"

Her father was very surprised; Emma was an introverted person. She excelled in her studies and was the only daughter of the Green family, so her father always wanted Emma to take over the family company after studying abroad.

"I just returned from studying abroad, and I want to gain more experience. If I stay at the family company, I'll enjoy too many privileges, which would be unfair to others."

Finn Green changed his expression upon hearing his daughter's words. He didn't expect her to change her attitude so quickly.

"Your mother won't agree. You'll face a lot of hardships if you go outside."

"As long as you don't say anything, it's fine."

Emma winked at her father, and Chairman Finn Green just smiled and shook his head. He spoiled his daughter too much.

"So, can I go, Dad?"

"It's up to you, but going there, I'm afraid they might cause you trouble or refuse to accept you."

Emma had also considered this issue. The AIA and BB corporations had been in conflict with each other. Now, it wouldn't be reasonable for Emma to go there.

"I have a plan."

"Won't they think we're sending a spy?"

Emma gently walked behind her father, placed her hand on his shoulder, and began to give him a soothing massage.

"I won't let them find out. I'm just going there to work and gather some information. Their company has good security, so there's no way someone like me would steal information. Besides, I have no intention of doing that," Emma reassured her father while speaking. Chairman Green had no intention of saying anything further. He was pleased to see his daughter changing in this way. Since the accident ten years ago, where Emma lost her brother, she transformed from a lively and cheerful girl into a more reserved and understanding person.

"Alright, only you and I know about this. Don't let my mother know," Chairman Green said. He agreed to Emma's plan, but he remained concerned. He reminded her not to let her mother find out, as she would surely worry.

In a VIP room of a nightclub, a tall and slender young man with a handsome face stared attentively at the glass of liquor in his hand without blinking.

"What's wrong with you, David?"

James Taylor approached David and lightly touched him, but David remained silent, still fixated on the glass of liquor.

"You seem different today. Usually, you go out to have fun."

"Not in the mood."

James grabbed the glass of liquor from David's hand, smirked, and then finished the drink.

"Call her."

"What?"

James looked at David as if he could see everything. Since a girl at the nightclub had told James about David meeting Miss Emma, he guessed that David was thinking about the girl named Emma.

"Miss Emma, you like her. Give her a call."

"You're joking. I don't like Emma."

David replied confidently, but he also felt strange. Since meeting Emma, he had a peculiar feeling, as if they had met before.

"Miss Emma won't like you. You know what kind of person she is."

James looked at David with certainty because what David had done would make a well-behaved girl like Emma unacceptable.

"That's true."

David understood this very well. He owned this nightclub and rode a large motorcycle. He was surrounded by many girls. David would not be interested in a well-behaved girl like Emma.

"So, just be yourself. Emma probably has some business with you."

David put the glass down on the table, and his face immediately changed. He returned to the playboy and famous heir persona.

"Let's go. We're going outside."

With a composed face, David walked out of the door. The girls waiting there rushed over when they saw David, hoping to get his attention. They all wanted to be noticed by David because if he did, their future would be worry-free. After parting ways, they would receive a sum of money.

"David, are you tired? Let's have a drink."

David's mood had improved significantly, so he nodded in agreement. He sat down with many girls to have drinks. Seeing this, David just shook his head and sat down with him.
