Despite her strong dislike, Emma tried to work as best as she could, as she was the only one left at the moment. Emma looked around, and seeing no one, she got up, gathered the pile of papers, and headed home, unaware that someone had been watching her all this time.
When Emma reached home, she plopped onto her beloved bed. Since she agreed to interview at David's company, she had moved to a different apartment. Emma feared that her guise would be exposed, upsetting her mother.
Just as she was about to get up to take a shower, her phone rang, so she quickly went to find it.
"Are you back from work?"
The voice belonged to Roger. He had been waiting for Emma to reach out, but since she hadn’t, he decided to call her.
"I just got back."
Emma replied without enthusiasm; she was exhausted and didn’t feel like talking to him.
"Can we meet?"
Mark noticed Emma’s change in demeanor, but he was trying to stay in her good graces. If Emma wasn’t happy, it could spell trouble for his company.
Emma glanced at her phone to check the date, her mind wandering back to the past. Even though she was reliving her life, certain memories remained vividly etched in her mind, and she remembered today’s date well—it was the day her life had been treated with contempt. Mark still hadn’t received a clear answer from Emma, so he pressed on.
"I went to your parents' house. They told me you moved out. I just really miss you, can we meet?"
"Okay."
At this, Emma agreed, which made him quite happy.
"I'll come pick you up."
"No need. Just send me the address."
Emma declined his offer to pick her up; she didn't want him to come to her apartment or know where she was living.
Emma stood in front of a restaurant, hesitating to go in. She knew what awaited her; she had experienced it before, but this time, she wouldn’t let it happen again.
Inside the restaurant, Mark was eagerly waiting to meet Emma, glancing at his watch repeatedly.
"I've been waiting a long time."
Emma walked into the restaurant and saw him, so she approached and greeted him. He stood up courteously and pulled out a chair for her. Mark smiled at her and even complimented Emma on how beautiful she looked today.
Inside, Emma felt nothing but disdain. She had worked all day, then went home to clean off all the grime, only to come here to meet Roger.
"Order whatever you'd like."
Emma picked up the menu and began to order, without hesitation, choosing the most expensive dishes and ordering quite a lot.
"You're ordering so much; are you sure you can finish it all?"
"Are you worried about the cost?"
Emma looked calmly at Mark, while the server stood nearby, leaving him with no choice but to smile and quickly shake his head.
"No, I'm just surprised, that's all."
Emma nodded at his response and continued to order, not forgetting to add a bottle of red wine. Mark was taken aback by Emma's mannerisms; they hadn't seen each other for a long time, but she had changed so much. Even though he'd heard stories about Emma before, her behavior seemed entirely different, prompting him to consider reevaluating everything.
Emma wasn’t shy at all, eating quite naturally. As soon as the food arrived, she started eating without engaging in much conversation with Mark, despite his efforts to make small talk. Mark grew increasingly suspicious, observing Emma as if she hadn't eaten for days.
Today, Emma wasn't acting; she was genuinely hungry because she had been working all day at David's company and hadn't eaten anything.
"Slow down," Mark said, kindly reminding her as he handed her a napkin. Emma took it without hesitation. After she was full, she got up to go to the restroom. Halfway there, she stopped and turned back to watch from a corner, just as she had suspected. Mark, seeing her leave, slipped something into her glass, a small action that Emma caught sight of.
She had experienced something like this before, in her previous life, on this very day. After eating with Mark, she remembered nothing. The next morning, she found herself beside Mark, and his parents also showed up at the hotel, catching them in a compromising position. From then on, Emma's life with Mark's family was filled with disdain and disrespect.
"Let's raise a toast," Emma said as she returned to the table, picking up the drugged glass. Mark, with a composed face, followed her lead, raising his own glass.
"I think I twisted my ankle. Could you take a look?" Emma pretended to have trouble with her foot, asking Mark for help. His expression was less than enthusiastic, causing Emma to withdraw her foot and speak again.
"If you don't want to help, that's fine; it'll probably be okay in a while." Her tone carried a hint of reproach and pouty annoyance. Mark quickly knelt to examine her foot, not wanting to upset her. His father had said that as long as he married Emma, everything else would work out, but for now, he needed to play along with her whims.
"All right, let me take a look," he said. Emma used the opportunity to switch her glass with his.
"Feeling better now?"
"Yeah, I'm okay," she replied.
Mark took hold of her ankle and massaged it gently. They were in the VIP room of the restaurant, so there was no one else around. It was a private space, so there were no cameras, which meant Emma didn't have to worry.
"Let's drink," she said.
They both raised their glasses, and while Mark was sipping his drink, he kept glancing at Emma. Emma drank without hesitation, which pleased Mark.
A young woman in a short dress entered the VIP room; it was the actress Lily.
"Did you get the shot?"
"Mission accomplished."
Emma sat in the room, holding her glass, looking at the photo the photographer she hired had sent her.
"Mark, you wanted to harm me? Well, I'll make sure you get a taste of your own medicine."
The glass Emma had switched with Mark's caused him to pass out at the dining table. Emma had everything planned. She took his phone from his pocket and sent a message to Lily, instructing her to come to the VIP room of the hotel where he was waiting.
Emma felt satisfied as she gazed at the photo in her hand. She quickly left to return to her apartment and rest. She had arranged everything carefully to ensure Mark's reputation would be tarnished.
When Lily received the message, she immediately headed to the hotel room. Since the day before, Lily had been trying to contact Mark, but he had refused to answer her calls. She was getting worried when she received the text, so she canceled her other engagements to be there. When she entered the room, it was dark except for a dim light.
The man burst out of the bathroom and kissed Lily passionately. Mark was out of control. She was startled but, realizing it was Mark, embraced him, and they fell onto the bed. The entire night, the two were together. It's unclear what Mark did to Lily, but by morning, she was too weak to even sit up.
The next day, Emma was awakened by the ringing phone. She picked it up, her eyes still lazy and unfocused."Laura, could you make breakfast for Director David today?"Before Emma could reply, the caller abruptly hung up. She was about to go back to sleep when the phone rang again."Emma, about last night... did you get home safely?"This voice made her fully awake. Emma sat up, looked at the phone screen, and began to calm down."I got home on my own.""Last night... I think I drank a bit too much."Emma chuckled to herself; Mark had called her early in the morning, indicating he was quite alarmed. Emma's plan had thrown his off track."Yeah, you got pretty drunk last night. I had someone take you back to the hotel."Mark became even more worried upon hearing this. He couldn’t understand why he had gotten so drunk. He recalled not drinking that much last night. Emma knew he was very confused, so she added more detail."Don't you remember? You kept drinking bottle after bottle of wine.
"Emma, do you know how much I truly despise you? Lily is much better than you," Mark said as he plunged a sharp knife in her heart.“I truly waited for this day and for you to die,” he finished speaking, laughed loudly, and stood up, leaving Emma to embrace the knife that was slowly dripping blood out of her heart."I never loved you; it was all just a drama for everyone. You loved me, right? Then die to prove it."The atmosphere in the house was both cold and rigid, and the room was now filled with the scent of fresh blood. Emma's body was covered in wounds, and she helplessly looked at him with eyes full of disgust, regretting that she couldn't rise and stab him. Emma hated him to the core. She never expected that this marriage was initially his plan, and her love for him had vanished completely. If someone were to ask her the biggest regret of her life, Emma would not hesitate to answer: loving him and marrying a scoundrel like him."Emma, why do you look so gloomy since you came b
After bringing Nancy home, Emma found herself standing in front of the Green mansion, a place both familiar and estranged, five years ago.Unable to restrain her emotions, Emma's feelings surged as she entered the grand hall, seeing her parents' portraits, their eyes filled with tears. If it weren't for her misguided marriage to Mark in the past, her parents wouldn't have met such a tragic end. The accident that year was Mark's conspiracy, resulting in the deaths of both her father and mother. Emma, fortunately, survived, embraced by them but left with the agony she didn't want to remember or relive."Emma, weren't you supposed to be at Mount Denali, praying for Mark's happiness? Why are you back so soon?" Her mother, Mabel, asked gently.Emma struggled to hold back tears in her eyes. She approached her mother, smiling faintly, realizing that everything had changed. Emma would make Mark pay for his deeds, and the William family would soon be ruined by her hands, ensuring that no one w
Today, Emma wore a shoulder-bearing dress that showcased her alluring figure. Her everyday tied-up hair was now gently let loose, adding to her allure. She glanced around; in her previous life, she never visited places like this, always holding a hint of disdain. Her phone chimed with a text message, and she picked it up."Where are you?" It was a message from Nancy, who had planned to go shopping together but couldn't find Emma at home."I'm at the nightclub."On the other end, Nancy almost dropped her phone. Emma, who had never come to such places before, was now here on her own."Who are you with?""Alone."Nancy, worried for her friend, quickly got in her car and headed to the nightclub. Emma placed her phone down, continued scanning the surroundings, and took a sip of her drink, frowning."If you can't handle it, don't drink it."A deep, low voice echoed in Emma's ear. She turned her head and recognized David. Today, Emma's purpose for coming here was to meet David. She had resea
Upon returning from the nightclub, Emma hurriedly took a shower. She lay on her beloved bed, holding the black card she took from David's wallet. This man was truly unpredictable, but he was the one who would help Emma seek revenge.Emma recalled the scene just before her death. At that time, she had returned from studying abroad, complying with her family's intention to arrange a marriage. The predetermined marriage filled Emma with resentment. She loved Mark, but he married her only for the wealth of the Wilson family.FLASHBACKThe car was navigating through the heavy rain on a difficult road, carrying Emma, her parents, and Mark back to the mansion."Dad? The road seems challenging.""Yes, you and your mother should sit carefully."Normally, the family's private driver would take them, but today, Emma's father insisted on driving himself. Suddenly, the brakes failed, and the speed increased rapidly. Outside, heavy rain made the road even more challenging."Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"The
The entire night, Emma found it difficult to sleep. Early in the morning, she woke up to find that she was late, hastily grabbing her phone."Damn it, why hasn't David contacted me?"Emma thought David would get in touch eventually, but there was no sign of any communication from him. Annoyed, she tossed David's black card into her wardrobe before heading downstairs."Miss, where are you going?"The butler was already there, waiting for Emma. She had returned from studying abroad just a few days ago. Mark was on a business trip at the same time, so they hadn't had a chance to meet. Though Emma, having come back to life, knew Mark was lying, she paid no attention."I'm going to the company.""The master said you should rest. Tonight, we need to meet the young master Mark's family."Hearing this, Emma furrowed her brows, looking around to ensure no one was present before turning to the butler."I know, I'll go to the company and talk to my father.""Yes."Finally, after Emma spoke, the
In a room at a restaurant, the food had already been arranged, and all five people remained silent, creating a somewhat heavy atmosphere. Finn Green took the initiative to speak."It's quite embarrassing; Emma said the girl would be here soon.""No problem, it's Mark's fault for not picking up Emma."After leaving the company, Emma immediately went shopping for clothes. Her father had instructed her to arrive a bit early and have a meal with Mark's family. However, Emma had managed to surprise her father by arriving an hour late."That's right; you should have picked up Emma," Mark Green admitted, taking responsibility. Mark had called Emma before coming, but she had declined, insisting on driving herself. As the uncomfortable atmosphere lingered, a sound reached them from the entrance."Hello, everyone; sorry, I'm late."All five people turned their eyes to Emma, who appeared in a tight black outfit. The black jeans and tight black top complemented her figure, and her makeup was diff
Emma walked away quickly, distancing herself from Mark. She turned around to make sure Mark wasn't following, then said firmly, "Mark, don't blame me. I don't want to be with you for another minute."She silently planned to call her best friend Nancy to come pick her up. Emma wanted to make sure Mark couldn't find her. After a while, someone answered the phone. Emma hastily asked her friend, "Where are you?""I'm at the club."The phone transmitted noise, and Emma could only hear Nancy's faint voice. "Can you come pick me up?""No, you're having dinner with Mark's family, right?"Although Nancy couldn't hear Emma clearly in the loud club, she knew Emma was meeting Mark's family today.Emma intended to explain further, but she noticed Mark searching for her in the distance. Without responding to Nancy, she quickly hung up. About 5 meters away, she saw a car with its door open. Without much thought, Emma ran towards the car and got inside. The crucial thing now was not to let Mark see h
