“Of course not, dear. Since that’s what you want, then we can go with that,” Alaine said.

“You heard what my daughter said, the banquet should be one of a kind. You have a week,” she said.

“Okay, madam,” the secretary replied, and the call was disconnected.

“Wow, with that kind of heiress, I wouldn’t mind working overtime to make this banquet the prettiest,” one of the secretaries said, and the others nodded their heads.

“Why don’t we divide the work? That way, we can do a great job. I also have a feeling that we won’t be given other tasks apart from that.” The others nodded as they all wanted to contribute as a way to thank Tracy for speaking for them.

“The boss might not, but you know her husband.” Upon hearing those words, everyone stopped talking as they knew how Mr Grant was; he always allocated tasks to them so that everyone could see that he had a say. Still, he didn’t have a lot of the company’s shares.

After hanging up the call, Alaine opened Weibo, looked at the company’s main profile, wanting to see whether they had done what she had instructed.

She understood that Tracy wouldn’t agree to go with her till she saw the news.

She didn’t wait for long, as she saw a new post.

She clicked on the repost but then stopped and looked at Tracy.

“They have already posted, here it is,” she said as she handed Tracy her phone.

Tracy took it and read the post; she nodded, a wicked smile appearing on her face as she thought of what Eve’s reaction would be.

“Uhm, I was thinking, why don’t I take you shopping, then we can take a photo, and I will post it while reposting the company’s statement?” Alaine asked in a low tone as she was afraid that Tracy would misunderstand.

“Okay,” Tracy replied.

She was still in the outfit she came with. She knew that if they posted a photo with her current outfit, she would be mocked, and she didn’t want that.

In her previous life, she had been afraid of using their money and being scolded; she continued wearing her old clothes, causing her to be the city’s laughingstock.

She knew that she was pretty and believed that after dressing her, her beauty would be seen, though not clearly, as she was malnourished and her skin was a bit yellow, but after a few skincare routines, she believed that her skin would change.

“Let’s go buy the outfit, then we can go to the spa and salon,” Alaine said, stunning Tracy.

She had not even thought of going to the spa; she believed that with the right cosmetics, she would get her skin back, but now her mother had proposed that, why should she refuse?

“Okay,” she said, making Alaine’s lips curl up widely.

She switched off the phone and placed it back in her handbag. Sensing Tracy’s gaze, she said, “I know that after Eve sees the post, they might call me. I don’t want to deal with them when I am spending time with you.”

Tracy nodded but inwardly shrugged; even if they avoided them, they would still meet them at home. However, she also didn’t want them to ruin her mood.

“Let’s cross the road. There is the mall,” Alaine said as she dragged Tracy.

“Auntie…” the guy who had given Alaine’s a ride was still waiting nearby. Alaine and Tracy looked in his direction.

“Oh, I am sorry. I was in a hurry and forgot to pay you,” Alaine said, as she took some notes from her bag and gave him.

“Auntie, this is too much,” the guy said. He had borrowed the bike from his friend so that he could go to work. Though Alaine had told him that she would pay him and he was happy, he knew that he was supposed to get fifty, not a thousand.

“It’s okay. Thank you for helping you,” Alaine said before turning to leave.

She knew that the motorbike was expensive and thought that the thousand she had given wasn’t much for such a person.

Tracy stared at the guy, feeling that he was familiar but couldn’t tell from where.

Feeling the stare, the guy looked at Tracy, then nodded at her before riding off. To him, it was a chance that he had earned a thousand in a few minutes; with it, he would be able to buy his mother the meds she needed.

Walking into the mall, Alaine was happy. “Baby, you can choose whatever you want. Mommy will pay it for you.”

“Thank you, Mom,” Tracy said as she looked around.

She knew most of the shops here; some she had visited in her past life, while others she had heard from Eve, as she never had money to go there.

In two hours, they visited a lot of boutiques. Most of the time, Tracy didn’t speak. Alaine was the one who chose the outfit, and if she saw Tracy seemed to like a certain outfit, she would buy all her sizes for her.

“Mom, that’s too much,” Tracy said as she felt that they had bought a lot and used more than five million. She wished that she had been given that money instead.

“Not much. Don’t forget that you have your own closet, you should fill it,” Alaine said as she dragged Tracy to another shop.

“I know, but if we buy everything right now, what if next week, I come across the latest outfit and my closest if full? Don’t you think that we should buy what we can and buy others then? After all, as a girl, one should go shopping at least every week, right?” Tracy said as she tried to convince her mother.

Alaine halted, looked around, then gave in. “Okay, you can have your way. However, we still haven’t bought electronics, cosmetics, makeup, and jewels,” she said.

“Then we should go buy the jewels, and after that, the electronics. As for the cosmetics, we can tell the beauticians in the spa to recommend the right products that will suit my skin,” Tracy said, and Alaine nodded.

They went to the jewellery shop. Alaine could tell that Tracy was tired, thus she chose all the jewels she thought suited her daughter, thinking that Tracy would wear them according to the event she would be going to.

Tracy had been served with tea and some snacks, so she sat on the sofa, eating while watching her mother. She wasn’t worried at all as she trusted Alaine’s taste. She looked around, feeling bored, wishing that they would be done soon, while also regretting not taking a nap when Alaine told her to.

After half an hour, Alaine walked to her. “I am done, we can go now. The bodyguards will come pick them up.”

Tracy nodded as she stood up.

When she saw Alaine, a smile appeared on her face. “Hae Alaine. Weren’t you here a few days ago?”“I brought my daughter today,” Alaine said.Rhoda nodded as they were used to seeing Eve every week. She looked around and couldn’t see Eve. She turned to Alaine with a confused gaze. “Where is she?”“Here she is,” Alaine said as she pulled Tracy closer to her. “I bet you haven’t seen the company’s news.”Rhoda shook her head, then stared at the woman waiting for her to tell her what was going on.“The kids were swapped at birth. She is my biological daughter, Tracy. Can you please be the one serving her?”Rhoda stared at the girl whom her friend had introduced. Hearing her last sentence, she frowned, not understanding why the latter would request such a thing, but she still nodded as the woman really requested anything.“I am your mom’s friend

Alaine stared at Tracy, thinking her daughter’s laugh was so pleasing to the ears, but something felt uneasy.“What? The Grants heiress needs to ask her husband for permission? Are you the company’s CEO or is he? No, sorry, aren’t you the Grant’s daughter? So your words carry more weight than his, right?” Tracy asked, causing Alaine to panic.“You just claim that you need to ask your husband for his decision; if he refuses, you will claim that it wasn’t that you didn’t do it, but he did? I am so sure that you sure how he favors Eve more than he favors me, right?”Tracy looked at her mother with indifference, her heart already gone cold with everything that happened. Well, she went back to being the indifferent Tracy who had just walked into the Grants' mansion after being reborn.“Anyways, Miss Grant, if you don’t want to acknowledge me, just say so; please stop wasting my time. I need to go look for a cheap house to live in,” Tracy added, but Alaine understood those unsaid words. She,

Your daughter is at home,” Tracy said coldly, making more tears roll down her mother’s cheeks.“I am sorry. You are the daughter I carried for nine months; my blood runs in your veins; how can you not be my daughter?” Alaine asked stubbornly and didn’t let go of Tracy’s arm no matter how much Tracy tried to get

Alaine stared at Tracy, her heart aching. She understood that the latter must have gone a lot to make her doubt everyone.“You are my daughter, my flesh and blood, so how can I not be ashamed of you?” she said before turning to Lilian and her brother.“I am sorry for making a fool out of myself,” she apologized with a faint smile on her face, but the siblings just looked at her emotionless.Julian couldn’t understand what Lilian was trying to achieve, but as her brother, he stood by the side to support her.Alaine sighed when she understood that things might not ease till she spoke the truth. “Yes, Tracy and Eve were swapped at birth. Tracy just arrived.”Lilian stared at Tracy for a while before her lips curled up in a good mood.“Eve’s biological mother, she is from the village?” she asked, causing Alaine to frown, displeased with her words. Inwardly, she thought that Eve’s words about the girl were true.“I hate your daughter; no, I loathe Eve, and I like seeing her suffering. Now
