Xyla’s P.O.V.

“What choice do I have now, Mom? I….. I made a grave mistake. Th… that was just a moment of weakness, but not only did that ruin my reputation, but it also hurt Xyla in the worst way. I have no right to be here and live a good life with you guys.” Naomi cried aloud, faking guilt and remorse, but I didn’t pay any attention to them.

Just like in the past life, she was still trying to wake up my motherly love for her.

Only her words are different from what she and my parents said in my past life.

In my past life, my parents and Naomi used Xander’s monstrous act towards his first five wives and his reputation of being inhumane to make me feel worried about her to the extent where I decided to sacrifice my own happiness and life.

I still couldn’t believe that my past self was so foolish that she couldn’t see the deception in their act.

To give my sister a better life, I accepted it and rejected Lucian. I didn’t know about Naomi’s affair with Lucian at that time. I learned about it when Naomi took Lucian as her chosen mate two months after my marriage to Xander.

I finished working on the monthly financial report before looking at them indifferently. After I came back from my run, I didn’t meet any of them but had to come back for dinner as Xander was really coming tonight.

In the past life, Xander did not even attend the marriage. I took vows with him over a call. It made me a laughingstock in front of all the alphas and Lunas who came to attend the marriage.

But the mail that we received this morning mentioned his arrival tonight. They specifically mentioned it.

“Mom.” I called her calmly, which was enough to infuriate her, as she was expecting me to comfort Naomi.

“What now, Xyla?” she yelled at me, sounding angry and hurt.

“You withdrew 250K from the pack’s account last month for miscellaneous expenses but didn’t provide any bill or receipt.” I asked her while explaining the situation and looked at her.

She squinted her eyes in confusion, stopping crying immediately.

“What? When did I withdraw this much?” She asked me, still confused, and stood up from the big couch where she was sitting with Naomi.

I glanced at Naomi and groaned internally. She suddenly stopped crying and looked away anxiously.

Great...

I succeeded in diverting my mother's attention completely, saving myself from that fake act of theirs.

I was sitting on the single couch. I moved the screen towards Mom when she stopped beside the armrest.

“See for yourself, Mom. This entry is in your name.” I showed her the entry.

“250K is a big amount, Xyla. I can’t forget spending this much.” She muttered, looking at the entry, and checked the details provided in the comment box.

“Xyla.” I looked up and saw my father coming towards us. He looked angry but exhausted.

“You were truly out of character this morning. I trained you to be the alpha of this pack after me. You are trained to be rational in every situation.” He yelled at me while stopping at the other end of the center table.

He was called by the council a few hours ago, and I refused to go there, showing no desire to deal with this mess.

I am also a victim, and they shouldn't treat me like that.

“Just because I refused to endure my sister’s betrayal with my mate, I am not an alpha material?” I asked him calmly, giving the laptop to Mom, and slowly stood up.

“Don’t try to twist my words, Xyla.” He roared, and I fought back immediately.

“Am I twisting your words, Dad, or are you trying to guilt-trip me when I am the biggest victim in the whole situation?”

“Xyla, calm down, baby.” Mom coaxed me anxiously.

“Just because I was trained to be the alpha, I am supposed to close my eyes towards the injustice that I faced, right?” I asked my father without lowering my voice.

“Just because I voiced out my agony and pain, I am a failed alpha material then, I guess, you think Naomi is the best option for the future alpha title now, right?” I continued taunting him while keeping my gaze locked with him.

“That’s not what I meant, Xyla.” He roared again, sounding frustrated, but I roared back without any fear.

“If I can’t give justice to myself, how am I supposed to give justice to our pack members, Dad? Tell me, if someone with the situation comes to you tomorrow, what will you do? Will you ask the victim to endure the betrayal and let the matter slide?”

“You are not an ordinary pack member.”

“And you are still the alpha of this pack, Dad. For you, I am also like other pack members. As a pack member, I demand justice for myself, Dad. Can you give that to me?”

My roar echoed throughout the living room, shaking the furniture everywhere.

Dad’s eyes widened in shock and realization.

None of us spoke for a good few seconds. Both I and Dad were breathing heavily, and everyone around us could hear that.

“If you want to replace me with Naomi as the future alpha, then just say it, Dad. Why this drama? Of course, she is better than me in bed. That’s why my mate betrayed me, right? So, she will be the best alpha (my tone here was still sarcastic) in the future.”

“Xyla.” Mom cried again, but I have had enough of this s**t.

“I am asking you to make your decision right now, Dad. Give me your decision. If you want Naomi to take over the alpha position, I will leave right away. I will not say a word in complaint, but I will sever my ties with both our family and this pack. I can’t live where my pain, my feeling, doesn’t matter.” I demanded in a cold and composed tone, leaving no room for him to argue again.

“What are you saying, Xyla? How can you say this?” Mom cried again, but I waited for my father to speak.

“You….. you don’t need to leave the pack, sis. I…. I am the bad seed. I am the one who should leave. I will leave.” Naomi cried, playing the victim card, but my gaze was still locked with my father.

This was an indirect challenge to him. If he breaks the eye contact, it will mean that he admits defeat.

So, he waited for me to lower my eyes, but I refuse to back out now.

“Back away, Xyla.” He demanded when he realized that I had no desire to break the eye contact.

“I demand your decision, Alpha Nolan Thorne. I, Xyla Thorne, demand justice for myself. Clear your stance on this situation.” I demanded coldly, straightening my neck.

Honey was still sleeping, but I didn’t need her to face my father.

Dad growled aloud, threatening me for the disrespect that I showed, but now is the time that I needed him to make his decision.

“Alpha. Alpha Xander Locke is here.” My father’s beta, Lucian’s father, Carl Fischer, yelled while running towards my father.
