John got lost in thought as he drove towards the pack house. He couldn't seem to feel sorry for Elizabeth. She deserves whatever comes to her, he never would have thought that a time would come when he would be able to look her in the eyes without breaking down. John would have never imagined himself to be a lover.

But then love knows no rogue or anyone else, as soon as your heart finds interest in someone. You are doomed and nothing else helps. He didn't get a chance at finding a mate, which implies he could choose any woman to be with. His treacherous heart had him fooled by Elizabeth, and he fell for her with no caution.

For some reason known to her alone, Elizabeth comes to drink at the usual spot of the rogues. He had noticed her countless times, she would sit alone drink herself to stupor and somehow find her way home. The day he finally got the courage to approach her, she was still on her first bottle. That was how he got to know of her husband's maltreatment. Jo
