Chapter 5 Get Out of My Car

Author: Precious Words
Evelyn's POV

Wyatt's help, huh?

I was the one who paid him to tutor me!

I remembered the first time I saw Wyatt. He was hauling a hunted catch bigger than him to the market to sell it.

Back then, I'd just learned that Father had arranged a mate for me. It was the heir of the Alpha of an adjacent pack. Once I awakened my wolf spirit, we would proceed with the marking ceremony.

I'd been unhappy with the way Father had unilaterally decided for me, but nevertheless, I'd held myself to the standard of a future Luna.

When I learned that Wyatt's mother had died in childbirth and Mark was raising him alone, I was reminded of my own father.

Father had also raised me alone after Mother's death. He refused to take another mate despite the pressure from others. He'd given me the best of everything there was.

However, an Alpha without a Luna suffered a great deal of emotional torment. Father also had to deal with the chaos of the entire pack himself. Throughout the years, the weight of having to maintain the stability of the pack alone ended up aging Father quite a lot.

As his daughter and a future Luna, it was necessary for me to take the initiative to share some of his burdens. Thus, I made it my responsibility to look after the health and welfare of the pack members.

Therefore, I'd arranged for Mark to be my personal driver and hired the strong-bodied Wyatt to tutor me. I even gave Wyatt the shifting herb Father had prepared for me, so he could awaken his wolf spirit and earn recognition from the pack.

Who would've thought that Wyatt would take it for granted that this was what he was due!

Once school was over, I packed my things and headed to the school gate. The car that came for me had been waiting outside the school entrance for some time now.

There were no secrets in the werewolf world. In just a single afternoon, the rumors about me spread across the entire school campus.

When the other students—all ordinary werewolves—saw me, they began gossiping about me with muffled voices and looks of disdain. Still, I heard everything they said.

"And here I was, thinking she wouldn't ride home in Young Master Wyatt's car anymore."

"She's a slut who relies on her body to get ahead. What makes you think she'd stop pestering Young Master Wyatt?"

"Young Master Wyatt is far too kind. If I had a servant like her who dares to disobey her master, I would've given her to the mighty Blackmoon pack and let them use her as a sex slave!"

If my wolf were awake, she would have snarled to tear their mouths off. But they were just ordinary werewolves without a mind of their own. Arguing with them would only make them even more adamant that they were saying the truth about me.

I wondered what they would say if they found out that I was set to mate with the current Alpha of the Blackmoon pack. Once I'd awakened my wolf spirit, he and I would proceed with the marking ceremony, and I'd become the Luna of the Blackmoon pack.

The thought of seeing Bennett soon made my heart race. The excitement, however, vanished the moment I saw Wyatt and Judy sitting intimately in my car and chatting happily together.

I'd seen many displays of shamelessness before, but I'd never seen anyone with their level of brazenness.

I was just about to mock them when I heard Wyatt taunting me, "Didn't you say you're not going to ride home with me anymore?"

Had I put up with things for too long that he'd forgotten the car belonged to me?

Snorting, I withdrew my gaze. After confirming that this was indeed my car, I said calmly but firmly, "It's true that I'm no longer riding home with you, but that doesn't mean you get to ride in my car!"

Just because I'd once been generous enough to let him ride with me in the past didn't mean he could use my car without my permission.

Wyatt's expression stiffened. He glanced at Judy before questioning me, "Are you sure?"

I let out a short chuckle. Just as I was about to speak, a berating voice came from the driver's seat.

"Eve, Young Master Wyatt has been waiting a long time. Don't waste any more time. Hurry up and get in."

I tightened my grip on my backpack. Mark sat in the car. His hands, covered in white gloves, were on the steering wheel. He had an insincere smile on his face as he stared at me with a commanding gaze.

Perhaps he thought I was the same she-wolf I used to be—that I'd make the most ridiculous compromises just to get Wyatt's attention.

But I was no longer the old me.

From this day onward, I was no longer going to forego my pride and principles just to please Wyatt!

I took a deep breath, squared my shoulders, and walked to the car. I met Mark's eyes through the window.

"Perhaps you've forgotten something," I said. "I own this car, not Wyatt. You're my driver."

Mark's smile stiffened. He probably hadn't expected me to be so bold.

However, he chose to ignore me!

He turned to the back seat and looked at Wyatt with a helpless expression. Then, he lifted his chin toward me. It was an admonishment to Wyatt to settle down and not truly anger me.

Sitting in the back, the haughty Wyatt simply gave a quick, disgruntled nod. They must've thought their little display was subtle, but I'd seen everything.

Who gave them the courage to indulge in their pretty little tricks in front of me?

I sneered to myself.

Did Mark think he could act like my future father-in-law and lecture me just because I liked Wyatt?

Lifting his head arrogantly, Wyatt commanded me in a tone of begrudging benevolence, "Fine. Get in. Since you're usually pretty obedient, I'll forgive your defiance today. But you'd better remember that there won't be a next time."

What gave him the audacity to be this disrespectful toward me?

After seeing the way he acted as though he was being gracious with me, I immediately opened the door and questioned loudly, "Do I need your forgiveness, Wyatt? What gives you the right to talk to me like that? Get out of my car right this instant, and take your girlfriend with you!"

Wyatt's POV"Why aren't you leaving yet? Are you so keen on becoming my father's daughter-in-law?" I snarled at Evelyn, who was still standing beside us. "You should look at yourself and see if you're even good enough or not first. Now get lost!""You're delusional," Evelyn shot back derisively, her brows creased. "Why would I be interested in you?"She bumped hard into me with her shoulder as she marched off toward her car and left.I'd grabbed Father by the hand, keeping him with me, so he could only yell after her in discontent, "Don't worry, Evelyn! When I get home, I'll teach this brat a good lesson!"Then, he turned to me, his eyes blazing with fury. "What the hell are you doing? I finally managed to see her, but you pissed her off and made her leave! Can't you do something right for once?"I eyed him in exasperation as I pleaded, "Can you not show up at my school?""I'll come if I damn well please!" Father roared back at me. "What about the money? Evelyn's POVWyatt had texted me earlier with a short apology, and now, he'd shown up at my house in person. It seemed the little performance I put on this afternoon had a pretty notable effect on him.Wyatt looked at me, his voice tinged with jealousy as he asked, "Does being with Alpha Bennett make you that happy?""It does! He treats me well, unlike you," I replied with a nod before voicing my curiosity. "Why are you, someone with a girlfriend, here at my house?""If I broke up with Judy, would you still like me? Just like the way you used to…" Wyatt asked quietly. His head was bowed, so I couldn't see his expression.Despite knowing full well this was just an act of his, I was still quite delighted to see him in this state. Tamping down the delight I felt, I answered curtly, "Nope."Wyatt's lips twisted in a bitter smile. "So you really… don't plan on ever being with me again.""What's wrong? Did you run out of money again?" I eyed him in scrutiny."You'd only ever show up

Wyatt's POVI had just gotten home when I heard a cold voice bark at me, "What's going on with you and Evelyn lately?"It was Father, who was sitting in my room."Nothing," I said.On the way back, I couldn't stop thinking about my situation with Evelyn. Now that I saw him, my mood soured even further."Nothing? Didn't I tell you to go make up with her? Haven't you been able to appease her yet?" Father snapped, his tone demanding—as though I owed him money.Irritated, I retorted, "Why should I appease her? She fired me! Am I supposed to beg her? Don't I have any self-respect?"Yes, I did feel some regret after seeing that she was now with Bennett. Marcus kept screaming in my head, "She belongs to us! You must snatch her back!"But now that I saw the way Father was behaving, I was glad that Evelyn and I had gone our separate ways.I had barely finished speaking when Father stormed up to me and slapped me hard across the face."You little brat! Evelyn's POVI reached out to pry Wyatt's hand off my wrist, but he clutched it even more tightly.Smiling bitterly, I asked, "I thought you hated having me cling to you the most? You said that the way I kept latching onto you felt like a nightmare to you."This was what he said to me just before I had died. I wouldn't have known about it if he hadn't told me. It was then that I found out how much my feelings for him repulsed him.Wyatt was startled. "I never said that!"I knew that the current Wyatt hadn't said it, of course, but it didn't mean he didn't feel that way."You've hated me all along, haven't you?" I said sorrowfully as I squeezed a few tears out of my eyes. "If you didn't hate me, then why would you have spent all your time with Judy, giving her all the gifts I gave you? Why would you treat her so well and treat me like a maid?"I no longer liked Wyatt. After everything I'd been through, the only feeling I had left for him was loathing. I'd died once because of h

  • Reborn for My True Alpha   Chapter 35 Wyatt Runs After Her

Lewis' POVIn my head, I asked my wolf, "I didn't mishear that, right? What did Alpha Bennett just say?"I had to wonder if there was something wrong with my hearing.Everyone had been saying that Evelyn was some old werewolf's sugar baby, but Bennett just said he was pursuing her.He even used the word "pursue"! Why would he need to pursue someone?Wasn't it more likely that as long as he nodded in agreement, any she-wolf would jump at the chance to be with him?Refusing to accept this outcome, I stared at Bennett, trying to catch some hint that he was lying. He eyed me sharply, asking, "What is it? Do you have a problem with that?""Not at all!"I wouldn't dare to have any problems with that. I just couldn't believe that Bennett had fallen for Evelyn.Did this mean that I'd been flirting all day with the she-wolf Bennett was interested in?I'd even said those things in front of him! How I wished I could kill myself right now.As I recalled this, I hurriedly apologized, "I

Wyatt's POVThe match was about to start. My teammates and I were warming up, but I couldn't keep my eyes on the court. They kept drifting toward the bleachers.Evelyn was standing there in her white platform sandals, rallying the she-wolves around her just like she used to cheer for me—only this time, she was doing it for Bennett.Just then, I heard Anna's voice loud and clear. "Is she trying to win them over?""She's probably desperate to make her presence known with Alpha Bennett here," Judy said softly. "She used to act the same way when she chased Wyatt, didn't she?""You mean she's after Alpha Bennett now? Is she crazy?" Anna's eyes widened in disbelief as she glanced over at Evelyn. "Does she think Alpha Bennett would willingly be her plaything? Who'd want a she-wolf like her who's gone to bed with some old werewolf?""Wyatt, the match is starting!"At the urging of my teammates, I refocused my attention and got ready for the match. As soon as it started, Lewis and I r
