RYDER'S POV

As we watched, we did not expect the next thing that happened. It finished up the pieces that were dropped for it and stared at everyone in the room with a slight tilt of its head. The chicken jumped down from the table and began to walk around the room.

“What is going on? It looks fine. I do not think the cake is poisoned,” Elder Calipers said, his eyes still pinned to the chicken.

I turned to Lyra, and she looked unbothered. Gabriella, on the other hand, looked like she was freaking out. My eyes left her and returned to Lyra, who still did not look bothered that the chicken was still alive.

“What is giving her such boldness? ” I thought to myself.

“How long are we supposed to wait?” Gabriella asked. “The chicken has not died yet. We should conclude this immediately,” she said.

I could hear the nervousness hidden under her voice.

“It is about time the chicken died. It should not take this long,” the doctor said.
