Nora was staring. I could feel her intense gaze boring into the back of my skull as I unlocked my main door. A part of me, the one that immediately thought of her as a stranger, wanted to do nothing but walk away. Then again, we are sisters even if I don’t remember.

Arlo was holding onto my hand like it was his lifeline, emitting pitiful groans when he saw Nora walk too close. If she had noticed his erratic behaviour, Nora didn’t comment.

“Please sit. I’ll get you something to drink.” I point

/Sebastian’s POV/“Nora’s here.” At my beta’s voice, I looked up, blinking, trying to process those words. He stood in the corridor of my room, hands crossed against his chest, displaying a grim look. “What do you mean Nora’s here?”“I mean here in the town. I saw her driver at the diner.”I immediately stood up, abandoning the laptop, running a hand through my curls and tugging on them. Nora sounded calm, almost too calm, the last time we spoke on the phone.“Shit! How did she—Why did she not tell me? This is insane!”Wyatt pressed his lips into a thin line. “When was the last time you spoke to her?”“Two days ago?”“So before your dinner with Lily?”“Yes!” I huffed. She had asked me to call her after dinner, or at least text, but it slipped my mind. A plethora of things occupied my mind lately, especially that dinner night. My Alpha was satiated, a feeling I hadn’t experienced in a long time. “Maybe that’s why she’s here. You should go find her before she gets to Lily.”“Moons!” I

Arlo was holding onto my hand like it was his lifeline, emitting pitiful groans when he saw Nora walk too close. If she had noticed his erratic behaviour, Nora didn’t comment. “Please sit. I’ll get you something to drink.” I pointed at the couch, throwing the keys into the holder as soon as the door shut behind us.“Thank you…” Nora hummed; the uneasiness from her shoulders dissipated, a smile creeping at the corners of her lips. She stared at Arlo, who was clinging to my right leg. “Is this Arlo?”Her voice went hoarse, eyes shifting between the two of us. I nodded. Her eyes grew, and she excitedly waved at him, “Hi, Arlo! I am your aunt…you can call me Aunt Nora…” The pup grew distressed, simply making a sound at th

A pounding headache was what woke me up. Light slipped through the blinds, stabbing at my eyes, and I dropped a pillow over my face.I lay there, staring at the ceiling, wondering why it felt like a pit had opened in my stomach. My eyes prickled as the scenes from the previous night played like a movie. The funniest thing was that I did not even realise how much I yearned for such a mundane, domestic experience. After Sebastian left, I kept tossing and turning, unable to stop thinking about that moment in the kitchen. I could not stop thinking about the things the Alpha's hand would do, the sounds he would pull from my throat. No. No, he’s not your Alpha anymore. He’s your sister's husband—Father of your child. The thought of going back to the pack and seeing him play the doting husband made my stomach twist.I had only closed my eyes for a minute before the morning sun was burning through the blinds. I reached for my phone on the nightstand without thinking.7.09 AM. Time to get u

There was a shift in the air. I could sense it in the pores of my skin as soon as Sebastian pocketed the phone. He wanted this. The Alpha truly wanted to spend time with Arlo. In an extension, with me, too. After dinner, Arlo bolted to the living room to watch his show while Sebastian cleaned up. There was something mundane and domestic about watching the Alpha—sleeves rolled up, two buttons unbuttoned as he picked up the bowls and made his way to the kitchen. “You are staring.” “No, I wasn't.” I snipped a little bit too quickly and defensively. “I was just... lost in thought.” The corner of his lip turned up into a smug smile at the prospect of me lost in thought while staring at him.“Oh, alright if you say so.” The Alpha appeared far too smug about it, like he did not believe a single word out of my mouth. My mouth felt dry as I watched him run a hand through his sweaty hair, flexing his muscles in the process. Sebastian approached me, clearly towering over with six foot three

/Sebastian POV/My mouth parted as I watched Lily walk towards the kitchen, leaving me alone with Arlo. The pup looked at me with wide grey eyes, the similarity almost knocking the breath out of my lungs. He had a scrunch in between his brows as he kept staring, like he was trying to decode something. It only made me shift on my feet. Who would have thought? The big bad Pack Alpha, someone who made betas think twice before looking at me, could get nervous over a four-year-old. “So…Arlo, lead the way,” I motioned to him while he blinked.“Are you Uncle Carlos’ friend?”At the mention of the beta, I took a deep breath. The scene of him in the very place, getting tended by Lily, flashed in front of my eyes. It took everything in me not to lunge at him.“Uh…No. I am your mom's friend.”“Mummy’s friend?”“Yes. We have known each other…for a long time.”“Okay.” There was some hesitation in his steps as he slowly closed the distance and wrapped his little hand around my fingers. The gestu

I pondered over his offer, the gravity of his words slowly sinking in. Free from the bond. But at what cost? The refusal was sharp on my lips, but I bit it back.As if he could read the thoughts going in my head, Sebastian cleared his throat, “Think it over. Take your time. I’ll wait for you to choose.”My shoulders sagged as if the weight had been lifted off them. “Okay…”“Good.” The Alpha straightened. “One more thing…I want to meet him.”It felt as if the air got knocked out of my lungs. I froze, watching the press of his lips and a little furrow between his brows. He was serious. The question was bound to happen anyway and still didn’t ease the nerves inside me. “Uh…right.” I swiped my tongue over my bottom lip. Avoiding meeting his eyes, I gave him a nod. “We will figure something out.”“I am serious, Lily. I want to meet him.”“Fine! Come to dinner tonight. You can officially meet him. Happy?”The Alpha's lips stretched in a genuine smile, ignoring the exasperation in my tone.
