Olivia's POV

I stayed there for several minutes, hoping that they would have some conversation in the next room that could alert me of their next plan.

Then I heard Reuben’s voice, it was low but sounded furious.

“He said he would think about it. Can you believe that? I offer him his wife and child in exchange for the throne, and he tells me he needs time to consider.”

Alira's response was almost immediate, “I never thought Simeon would be so cruel but people always surprise you.”

“I thought he loved them but he really is just one selfish bastard,” added Reuben.

“What do we do now? Do we kill them?” Alira's voice sounded hostile.

“Kill them? We should, they are only wasting our resources,” replied Reuben, “but we should wait a bit longer to listen to what Simeon has to say. It is possible that he may actually want them back.”

“I doubt that. If he cares for them at all, he would have given up the throne in a heartbeat if he did,” came Alira's response.

“But I cannot just end his

Simeon's POV It was working too because the thought of Jeremy returning home to me, the idea that he would forgive me for the pain I had caused him and call me father again filled me with joy. Perhaps, he would even forget with time or the period of pain I had inflicted on him would fade like a shadow at dusk, one pushed back in the background until it no longer held power.I allowed myself to imagine it for a moment—Jeremy walking through the door, taller, stronger, but still with that same look in his eyes. The one he had when he was younger and needed my approval for everything. I could already feel what it would be like to hold him again, to speak to him without guilt tying a rope around my throat.“How will you guarantee Jeremy's safety?” I asked her, suddenly curious. If there was a way or even the slightest chance of a reunion, I was willing to take it.“If our plan works well, Austin will become Alpha and return Jeremy to you,” she said. I was disappointed. Why would she expe

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 164

Simeon's POV I tried to imagine what would happen after my death because my death was inevitable. I could not continue living, that much was clear to me already. I did not deserve to breathe and exist in the same world in which Olivia and Jeremy existed. I had failed them and they had moved on with their lives. Every single second I breathed, I felt pain and nothing more within me.The ache in my chest never eased, no matter how many nights I spent alone or how many apologies I whispered into the empty air.“I believe Alpha Damien has done more than enough damage. It is time we show him that he does not deserve to be Alpha anymore. The council is taking us seriously and I am proud of the progress we have made so far,” Lady Bingum was speaking. She was Alpha Orion's Luna and had been placed in charge of the pack since her husband had taken to his sick bed.She stood tall, her presence commanding attention, but I knew her strength came from something more dangerous than duty—it came fr

Olivia's POV I believed Prinsca up to a point. The decision I had to make though was if she was worth the risk.“What do we do?” Damien asked me. We had been deliberating on Prinsca's stay for a while. With Damien's position as Alpha not certain, it was not safe to accommodate her.It had become harder to make decisions lately because every move had to be weighed against not just personal consequences but political ones. It was no longer a matter of right or wrong, but of survival and calculated appearances. Every suggestion needed a backup plan, and even those plans required contingencies.“The army is loyal to you. I think it is time that you announce your Luna and heir to your throne?” I said to him, I had turned this over several times in my mind. If Damien wanted to have the support of his people, he had to show that his position was stable. It was the only way to protect us. People were growing restless, and rumors about his leadership were beginning to spread. It was dangerous

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 162

Olivia's POV “You have just a minute to convince me,” those were the first words I uttered the second I re-entered the parlour. My eyes were fixed on hers. I knew that Prinsca was deeply selfish and she would not ask me for anything unless it benefitted her in some way. I also knew that she could manipulate situations just to help herself. That part of her had not changed, no matter how much time had passed. She was always calculating, always one step ahead in looking out for herself. The way she sat now, her hands folded calmly over her lap, told me she was ready with her pitch. There was no panic in her eyes, only cold determination.I knew all this already and still I felt drawn to help her. It had little to do with her but more to do with her unborn child. It had a lot to do with the fact that she was carrying Albert's child and while I had been angry to find out that he had been Damien's spy, he had not deserved to die the way that he did. His death had been brutal and senseless

Olivia's POV “I heard Prinsca is here,” remarked Austin. For some reason I could not bring myself to understand Austin seemed anxious.Instinctively, I squeezed the note in my hand.I tried not to look at Damien so as not to give away the fact that we suspected something or anything at all about Austin.“Where is she? Is she in there?” asked Austin, he was clearly anxious about something. His eyes darted towards the hallway and then back at me, as though he expected someone to burst out any second. He kept glancing over his shoulder too, as if he had seen something—or someone—behind him. I remembered the words on the note I now squeezed in my hand and I could not help but wonder if the snake Prinsca had been referring to in the book was Austin.“Olivia will take care of her but we need to talk, Austin,” Damien said, his tone was so casual as though Prinsca had not just warned us of something and as though he was not worried in the least that Austin had betrayed him. It was almost uns

  • The Alpha’s Banished Mate   Chapter 160

Olivia's POV “What about Austin, Damien. Did something happen?” I asked Damien in a soft tone. His pacing was fueling my own anxiety.“There is no lady Alora in the pack. There is no nobleman with a mate named Lady Alora,” said Damien, there was no fear in his voice, only anger at being made a fool.“And you think that Austin sent these people?” I asked him.“He was sitting on my chair with a smug smile on his lips and then he… he had that look like he had succeeded at something,” he said, still pacing the study.“There was a strange calm around him. The kind that settles over a person who believes their plan is foolproof,” Damien added, dragging a hand through his hair. “I’ve seen that expression before, just never on Austin’s face.”“That is not enough to suspect him of anything,” I told Damien. Left to me, he was imagining things and the only reason this was happening was because Lord Zigmund had put ideas in his head. I did not doubt that someone close to him could betray him but
