I flashed a smile on my face, careful not to allow my emotions to cloud my face. It was important that Jeremy remained in the dark about his paternity. It was not a discussion I was ready to have with him. Besides, Simeon was doing a good enough job of being a father to Jeremy.

I shut the book close and with a smile I said, “I wonder what's in here that you keep from me.”

I saw Jeremy watching me closely, trying to decipher if I had opened the book and I was just pretending or if I really was in the dark about what was inside the book.

“There's nothing in there,” he said, drawing closer to me to retrieve his book. He took it out of my hand and said his thanks before running away from my sight.

“What the hell was that?” I asked my wolf. Why had he felt the need to hide that from me? What did he know already that he felt like a sketch of Damien in his notebook would upset me? Had Damien told him something about me? Was that why he had been distant of late?

You should ask him.

“I have no idea,” he said, shrugging his shoulders like he was clueless. “Don't worry, I'll take care of it,” I said, patting his back and giving him my brightest smile. “I thought you didn't like me going to that school,” he said. He was right, I had not been onboard with the idea at first but as time grew and I got to watch the man Jeremy was turning out to be, I was grateful for the training that he underwent there. “I did not, but look at you,” I said, punching at his muscles playfully. Even his body had begun to change. “Why don't you go and wait for me in the stable?” I wanted him to stay away from my room while I figured out a way to send Prinsca out of my room. ****Later that night, I tried to make peace with Olivia. I ordered the servants to make her favourite food and prepared a romantic dinner for her. I saw the surprise on her face when she entered the dining hall. She looked at me, suspicion written all over her face. “What is this about?” she asked me, she did not

“Liv,” my voice was soft and it lacked any of the anger with which she spoke to me. I had to be mindful of my actions here — one wrong move and I could lose my job here, lose the only connection I had left with Jeremy. “Don't you dare! Stay away from me, okay?” she warned me. I put up my hands in the air in surrender so she would know that I meant her no harm. Olivia’s POV I had been so angry when I had seen Damien. I had not meant to lose my cool like that but it had just happened. I couldn't seem to hold back all of my anger knowing that he had been building a relationship with my son all these years. I stomped away in anger. I was not going to allow Jeremy to return to this place, I wasn't going to give Damien the chance to see his face again. After everything that he had done to me, there was just no way that I could stand him being near my son. Jeremy would just have to continue his education at home. ****It had been three weeks since I had allowed Jeremy to return to his

When I entered my room, I slammed the door behind me and looked around my room. I checked my room for where I had kept the needle hidden. I smiled to see that it was still there. Untouched. Damien's POV I could tell she was angry, furious even. The fire in her eyes that had once burned with love for me was filled with anger but I was relieved that it was not full of hate. It had been a long time, years even, perhaps she had forgiven me? I fantasized that she had and some day in the near future I would wake up to see her beside me, her golden hair splayed stop my bed and her sensuous body warm… She hit me. She slapped my dreamy thoughts on me. “How dare you? I have one simple instruction. I told you what I wanted from you as plain as day, stay the hell away from my son! Why was that so hard to do for you? huh!” Olivia screamed at me at the top of her voice. She had waited until the children were gone and the class was empty. She had not even brought Jeremy to school today, that s

“In that case, you are welcome to check,” I said, opening the door for them to come in. I thought I saw a flicker of surprise in Prinsca’s eyes at the invitation to come inside but I could have imagined it as it did not last very long. I watched as brother and sister eagerly entered my room while Simeon stayed back and observed with bored eyes. Simeon did not seem too happy about the search; rather, he looked like he had been rendered powerless against the siblings in my room. The two did not just search my room, they trashed it. They brought out every single cloth I owned in the place and went through every one of them. They searched in my fireplace but found nothing, went through my drawer and my wardrobe. Thirty minutes later, they had ransacked my room and they had come up with nothing. Looking desperate, Prinsca had turned to me and said, “we have to search your body too.” “Excuse me?” I was surprised at the sheer audacity. “We found nothing in your room so it must be on your

Olivia's POV I could sense his fear and I was not sure how to comfort him or how to advise him. I did know that I had to keep this quiet, what he had told us had to remain between us. “You can't tell anyone about this,” I told him. He nodded, understanding that the wrong person finding out about this could lead him to his grave sooner than it should be. “Do you have the needle?” he asked me in a much lower tone. “What would you do with it?” I asked him, tactfully ignoring his question. “I think I must…” but just then we were interrupted by Damien peeping into the classroom. For a full minute I froze and he did too. He looked just as surprised as I am to see me. What was he doing here? He turned to leave but I was not going to let him do so at least not that fast anyway. Hastily, I walked out of the class and ran after Damien in the corridor. Eventually, I caught up with him and blocked his path, stopping him from going any further. “What are you doing here?” I demanded, my h
