"Those are only for kids, Jet. Don't tell me you're taking it seriously?" Raze is annoyed by his partner's actions. Jet is examining the paper thoroughly and placed it inside his backpack. They are not kids anymore to play with random strangers.
"I think it's true, Raze. A rare, clever bird won't just pick a random thing and give it to us. Look at the handwriting, it's neat as if it's written by an adult," Jet explained. He has a great feeling that they are not alone here in the vast area.
"That's ridiculous. You read so much fantasy novels. Pull yourself together. I really want to go back right now"
"I'm serious. We'll attend the party and see what's really going on in this place. You'll come back here with me."
"We? Go by yourself. I won't join you to that shitty party. I'd rather have a sip of coffee and relax once we go home." That's it. Raze had enough. He can't believe how Jet falls for an i-dont-know-trap. He's mad because how can his partner play that game and risk their lives for his curiosity.
If they'll attend the celebration, what will they get? Who are the people they'll meet? Raze is scared, so is Jet, but they need to be strong inside out for the sake of their job and the family waiting for them at home. The two decided to go back and find the exit when a voice stopped them.
"You couldn't." A voice from behind got Jet and Raze to stop walking and turned around.
A guy in a white sleeve and wears an expressionless face came out of nowhere. He walked towards the environmentalists' direction and grabbed the lifeless bird. Jet looked him from head to toe, memorizing its features. He looks young and innocent but his eyes can kill in an instant. The corner of his eyes is shaped like a cat's. But if looks could really kill, they are probably dead. Who is this guy?
"Who are you?" Jet bravely asked.
"You don't have to know me and I don't care who you are. But if there's one thing I can tell you, it is you can't go out of here," he answered. He looks so serious that's why Raze kept a straight face eve though he's about to burst out laughing.
"Why? Do you own this place?" Raze annoyingly asked. This guy suddenly came out of the blue and his behavior is so rude and emotionless which makes the environmentalists irritated. The guy was about to answer Raze when his brother came, running and out of breath.
"Winter is dead?!" he screamed in disbelief.
"I shot him, Saint. She handed the invitation to these weird guys," the guy earlier peevishly replied. Jet felt man's intense glare as if he's finding something from him. Good thing Jet already hid it in his bag. That could be a concrete evidence that there's a resident in this forest.
"Oh. My poor baby," Saint pouted. He grabbed the lifeless bird and patted it. "By the way, who are these humans?" he then asked. They have never seen this people throughout their life.
"I'm Jet and this is Raze. We're sent here to explore this forest," Jet introduced. Saint nodded and also did the same.
"I'm Saint and he's my brother, Silas. I'm sorry for his rudeness." Saint then gave the two a smile, his fox eyes forming a moon.
"Do you live here?" Raze asked. Based on their clothing, it seems like their house is just nearby. Black pants and white, laced sleeves; they look old-fashioned yet stylish. They don't look like normal people, though. They exclude a presence of someone who's in a high rank.
"Nearby," Saint answered. Silas pinched his brother's arms and gave him a deadly glare.
"I told you, there are residents here. Raze, we can add this information," Jay excitedly told his partner. Raze glanced at them and met Silas' scary eyes. He fought gazes with him and for the very first time in his life, he felt intimidated by him.
"Hey, we're not living in between these woods," Saint defended. Their fancy clothes doesn't belong to the woods. They live somewhere fancy, somewhere special.
"If not in the woods, then where?" Raze asked? Is there any other places to build a house?
"In a ca--"
"How dare you come and invade our privacy. That's enough. Saint, let's go," Silas cut Saint's words. He sighed. Saint almost told those strangers an important information. That's why before his brother could even reveal their everything, he decided to go back home They should not engage too much with Raze and Jet. He feels so uncomfortable. But before they even turn their backs, Raze stopped them.
"Wait! Please help us out."
"There's no way out, Raze." Saint said.
"You always tell us that we can't go out. Then why won't you give us the reason?" Jet asked, making Silas close his eyes in frustration. These two guys are getting into his nerves and he's already being impatient.
He just came here for Winter, nothing else. And now, they're wasting time on these humans. He badly wants to go home and watch his favorite TV show.
"Because you can't even if you try. Let's go." Silas held Saint's hand and walked away.
"Oh, so you're saying that we'll be stuck here forever? And when night comes, we'll be devoured by werewolves?!" Jet screamed.
"Yes." Saint replied, laughing. He can't believe how Jet crossed that thought. He wants to laugh with the sudden though but then he realized that Jet's correct.
"We're not shooting a film here, misters. Now give us answers," Raze pleaded in a serious tone.
"We just told you," Silas replied.
"Saint, Silas, go home." A white, tall man appeared in front of the two. The environmentalists didn't know where he came from but based on his fit, he is for sure Saint and Silas' sibling. His dark eyes landed on Jet and held a short staring contest. Silas nodded and turned his back first. Saint followed him but his eyes are glued to the three guys they left.
"And who the fck are you? If you'll not give us answers, shut your mouth," Jet warned. The guy tilted his head and smirked. "Magnus," he confidently answered. "And as my siblings said a while ago, you can't go back to where you came from." Magnus' eyes and voice is as cols as ice. He looks like a walking dead with a youthful image.
Jet was about to attack Magnus but Raze stopped him. Jet hates this feeling, they're being tricked and these guys make them look like a damn fool. Truth and answers are all they want to hear, but they only received anger and confusion. If Raze didn't interrupted, Magnus would probably cough with blood.
"See you never." Magnus broke the deafening silence. The two are left in disbelief, watching the siblings go away. But before they disappear between the woods, Magnus gave them a look that added another curiosity in Jet's mind.
"Raze, do you believe in vampires?" Jet asked in surprise. Fangs. Magnus'.
In a secret room located at the Chairman’s office, Sun was deliberately scanning the contents of the opened barrier the royal vampires handed. It is indeed, the lost Red Woods Royal Album dated before the worst war they encountered — The Human-Vampire War.The Royal Album consisted of pictures of the previous Kings and Queens from different regions of Red Woods. Images of the greatest warriors and hunters and life in the whole community are also included in the compilation. “The truth is slowly unveiling itself,” Sun whispered as he browsed through the pictures where Jet’s Mom and Raze’s Dad are completely shown up. Eliana Riziel. Chief Commander for Archery, Cerise, Red WoodsHarvard Deviosa. Master Hunter, Red WoodsThese are the parents of the new royals who happened to be prominent people of Red Woods. Before Sun could indulge himself with theories that lead up to where they are now, he flipped to the next page where he is welcomed by photographs with notes scribbled below them.
“Your parents?” Silas asked for clarification. “Yes! I have a picture of my mom when she was younger. I kept it in my wallet,” Jet hurriedly said and took out a polaroid photo with her mom on it and handed it to Silas. They immediately placed it side by side with the picture in the album. Jet might be right. Those two pictures are really identical despite the difference in posture and clothes. Saint nudged his elbow on Raze’s, silently asking for a reference picture just like what Jet did. “I only saw my dad in pictures Mom has shown me,” Raze quietly responded, lowering his head down. The six of them exchanged glares, asking with their eyes what is the most appropriate word to reply. “Don’t worry about me, I’m used to it. Let’s solve this mystery right away. We still have to eat. Faster than a lightning, Raze’s weary voice shifted to an energetic, curious one. He also sneaked in between Hail and Silas. “Why are they with the vampires? Don’t tell me they are…”“Vampires? I don’t t
“I won’t be staying here for long. ENVO needs me, especially since these guys left the Boracay mission,” Light said after eating the last slice of his steak. “I missed it already,” Saint whispered. He wished they had more time to fully enjoy the beach. His eyes were sparkling at the jetski! “You can come back when everything’s fine here at Red Woods,” Light assured them. Saint’s fading hope was recharged. They don’t know that exact date but he looks forward to seeing a beach again. “I guess we will also go home, Sun. Thank you for the dinner.” Light carefully stood up and had fist bump with his twin. If it is not with their different clothes, they are like a living mirror. “See you tomorrow, kiddos!” The seven of them waved goodbyes on their chairs as Sun walked Light out of the ministry. After the door closes, the Reds are surrounded with quietness. No one dared to start a conversation. Or no one knows how to do it. “I think I heard you talking earlier, Hail,” Jet spoke. “Your
In no time, the Reds are on the helicopter sent by ENVO. Panic consumes the empty space between them. It’s been five minutes since they got on the vehicle yet for them, it feels like an hour has already passed. “We’ll travel faster in our form,” Magnus muttered. He badly wants to go to Red Woods. Unfortunately, he can’t right now. “Go on, transform and freak everyone out.”“Our home is in danger, Jet,” Silas whispered, his breath almost burning Jet’s ear. He can feel the collision of concern, impatience, and madness from that. “I know, I heard it myself. But please calm down, Silas. You cannot jump off from this helicopter. We’ll get there within this day,” Jet assured and pushed Silas’ head gently away from him. He looked for Hail and Claude who were suspiciously quiet since they got in the vehicle. Both of them have their eyes closed, but not sleeping. Maybe it’s their way of dealing with stress, Jet thought. Magnus and Saint are both looking at the clouds, counting how many sec
“Raze!” Saint shouted when he spotted Raze’s back. He ran faster than he knew to reach his brother as quickly as possible. Saint gasped for air when he saw Raze holding up a person in the air, choking him with his tensed hands. “Put me down, you monster!” The old man screamed. He keeps on fighting Raze’s tight grip on his neck. The man is in his 60’s, wearing a dark green long sleeve and a parachute pants. His slippers are on the leaves as his bare feet are hung up in the air. Saint saw how Raze’s eyes glowed brighter. “You must pay the consequences of your action. And no, I won’t let you go until you are captured and put to jail,” Raze emphasized. Is he the one who put the trees on fire? The man’s angry yet desperate cry brought back Saint in reality. He grabbed Raze’s wrist, “You’re choking him to death, Raze. Let him go!” he shouted. “No! He’s the one who burned the trees. He should be accountable for his crime!” Raze insisted. Saint has no other choice but to use his stren
The Reds can't really say, "expect the unexpected". This is their main reason for coming here at Boracay: to check up on the abuses this place gets and find the culprit. But they didn't expect that they would do it as early as now on this unsuspected night."There it is. I'm pretty sure there is a fire going on," Hail pointed out the glowing mountain top. The fire seems to be a bit bigger than the first time they saw it.All of them ran quickly inside after realizing what's happening. "Bring your flashlights and any weapons you can use. This is our first mission together. The culprit must be held accountable tonight," Jet instructed them. The seven of them shoved their items in their backpacks. In addition, they brought a few liters of water, in hopes that they could cease the fire before it spreads."Let's go," Magnus said.--They all walked as briskly as they could under the bright moonlight. With flashlights on their hands, the Reds stopped after reaching the foot of the mountain.
