Chapter 2: Fangs

"Those are only for kids, Jet. Don't tell me you're taking it seriously?" Raze is annoyed by his partner's actions. Jet is examining the paper thoroughly and placed it inside his backpack. They are not kids anymore to play with random strangers.

"I think it's true, Raze. A rare, clever bird won't just pick a random thing and give it to us. Look at the handwriting, it's neat as if it's written by an adult," Jet explained. He has a great feeling that they are not alone here in the vast area.

"That's ridiculous. You read so much fantasy novels. Pull yourself together. I really want to go back right now"

"I'm serious. We'll attend the party and see what's really going on in this place. You'll come back here with me."

"We? Go by yourself. I won't join you to that shitty party. I'd rather have a sip of coffee and relax once we go home." That's it. Raze had enough. He can't believe how Jet falls for an i-dont-know-trap. He's mad because how can his partner play that game and risk their lives for his curiosity.

If they'll attend the celebration, what will they get? Who are the people they'll meet? Raze is scared, so is Jet, but they need to be strong inside out for the sake of their job and the family waiting for them at home. The two decided to go back and find the exit when a voice stopped them.

"You couldn't." A voice from behind got Jet and Raze to stop walking and turned around.

A guy in a white sleeve and wears an expressionless face came out of nowhere. He walked towards the environmentalists' direction and grabbed the lifeless bird. Jet looked him from head to toe, memorizing its features. He looks young and innocent but his eyes can kill in an instant. The corner of his eyes is shaped like a cat's. But if looks could really kill, they are probably dead. Who is this guy?

"Who are you?" Jet bravely asked.

"You don't have to know me and I don't care who you are. But if there's one thing I can tell you, it is you can't go out of here," he answered. He looks so serious that's why Raze kept a straight face eve though he's about to burst out laughing.

"Why? Do you own this place?" Raze annoyingly asked. This guy suddenly came out of the blue and his behavior is so rude and emotionless which makes the environmentalists irritated. The guy was about to answer Raze when his brother came, running and out of breath.

"Winter is dead?!" he screamed in disbelief.

"I shot him, Saint. She handed the invitation to these weird guys," the guy earlier peevishly replied. Jet felt man's intense glare as if he's finding something from him. Good thing Jet already hid it in his bag. That could be a concrete evidence that there's a resident in this forest.

"Oh. My poor baby," Saint pouted. He grabbed the lifeless bird and patted it. "By the way, who are these humans?" he then asked. They have never seen this people throughout their life.

"I'm Jet and this is Raze. We're sent here to explore this forest," Jet introduced. Saint nodded and also did the same.

"I'm Saint and he's my brother, Silas. I'm sorry for his rudeness." Saint then gave the two a smile, his fox eyes forming a moon.

"Do you live here?" Raze asked. Based on their clothing, it seems like their house is just nearby. Black pants and white, laced sleeves; they look old-fashioned yet stylish. They don't look like normal people, though. They exclude a presence of someone who's in a high rank.

"Nearby," Saint answered. Silas pinched his brother's arms and gave him a deadly glare.

"I told you, there are residents here. Raze, we can add this information," Jay excitedly told his partner. Raze glanced at them and met Silas' scary eyes. He fought gazes with him and for the very first time in his life, he felt intimidated by him.

"Hey, we're not living in between these woods," Saint defended. Their fancy clothes doesn't belong to the woods. They live somewhere fancy, somewhere special.

"If not in the woods, then where?" Raze asked? Is there any other places to build a house?

"In a ca--"

"How dare you come and invade our privacy. That's enough. Saint, let's go," Silas cut Saint's words. He sighed. Saint almost told those strangers an important information. That's why before his brother could even reveal their everything, he decided to go back home They should not engage too much with Raze and Jet. He feels so uncomfortable. But before they even turn their backs, Raze stopped them.

"Wait! Please help us out."

"There's no way out, Raze." Saint said.

"You always tell us that we can't go out. Then why won't you give us the reason?" Jet asked, making Silas close his eyes in frustration. These two guys are getting into his nerves and he's already being impatient.

He just came here for Winter, nothing else. And now, they're wasting time on these humans. He badly wants to go home and watch his favorite TV show.

"Because you can't even if you try. Let's go." Silas held Saint's hand and walked away.

"Oh, so you're saying that we'll be stuck here forever? And when night comes, we'll be devoured by werewolves?!" Jet screamed.

"Yes." Saint replied, laughing. He can't believe how Jet crossed that thought. He wants to laugh with the sudden though but then he realized that Jet's correct.

"We're not shooting a film here, misters. Now give us answers," Raze pleaded in a serious tone.

"We just told you," Silas replied.

"Saint, Silas, go home." A white, tall man appeared in front of the two. The environmentalists didn't know where he came from but based on his fit, he is for sure Saint and Silas' sibling. His dark eyes landed on Jet and held a short staring contest. Silas nodded and turned his back first. Saint followed him but his eyes are glued to the three guys they left.

"And who the fck are you? If you'll not give us answers, shut your mouth," Jet warned. The guy tilted his head and smirked. "Magnus," he confidently answered. "And as my siblings said a while ago, you can't go back to where you came from." Magnus' eyes and voice is as cols as ice. He looks like a walking dead with a youthful image.

Jet was about to attack Magnus but Raze stopped him. Jet hates this feeling, they're being tricked and these guys make them look like a damn fool. Truth and answers are all they want to hear, but they only received anger and confusion. If Raze didn't interrupted, Magnus would probably cough with blood.

"See you never." Magnus broke the deafening silence. The two are left in disbelief, watching the siblings go away. But before they disappear between the woods, Magnus gave them a look that added another curiosity in Jet's mind.

"Raze, do you believe in vampires?" Jet asked in surprise. Fangs. Magnus'.
