Chapter 42

Axel, I screamed, watching in horror as he fell to the ground, his eyes closing. I rushed to his side and shook him, calling his name desperately.

"Axel, please, wake up," I pleaded, feeling a surge of panic swelling within me. He looked disoriented, a faint smile lingering on his lips. Was he faking it? Had he actually fainted, or was it a ploy to deceive me once again?

"Derek, what's happening? Is he okay?" I asked, my voice laced with worry. Derek quickly knelt beside us, his eyes filled with concern. "The ambulance is here, Ms. Leah. They'll take care of him," Derek assured me, gesturing to the approaching medical team.

Axel was swiftly placed on a stretcher and taken into the ambulance, leaving me feeling helpless and anxious.

Minutes later, a doctor approached me with reassurance. "Everything is fine, miss. Axel was just short on blood, but he's stable now," the doctor informed me.

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding and followed the doctor inside.
