The air inside the warehouse was damp, reeking of rust and rotting wood. An old neon lamp dangled from the ceiling, swaying slightly each time the night wind slipped through the cracks in the corroded walls. Its dim light stretched long shadows across the cold concrete floor.

Vania sat on a wooden chair, her hands bound behind her back. The nylon rope bit into her skin, stinging and numbing her wrists as it cut off circulation. She forced herself to breathe evenly, to stay calm, even though her heart was pounding like a war drum.

In front of her stood three men in black masks. They spoke little, exchanging glances now and then. One of them, taller and broader than the rest, exuded authority—clearly the leader of this small group.

Vania broke the silence, her voice hoarse with tension.

“Why did you bring me here? What do you want from me?”

No response. Only the chirping of crickets outside filled the suffocating quiet.

She straightened her back, feigning strength though fear gnawed at

That night, the safe house Arga had prepared felt unnervingly silent. The living room lamp was left dim, as if allowing exhaustion to linger in the air, too heavy to turn into sleep. Vania curled up on the sofa, her body trembling beneath the blanket pulled up to her neck.Suddenly, she jolted awake. Her breathing came in ragged bursts, cold sweat dampening her forehead. Her eyes darted wide, searching for light as if she were still trapped in that dark warehouse.“Let me go!” she gasped, her voice hoarse, hands flinching upward as though still bound.Arga, who had been sitting close by, rushed to her side. “Vania, hey… it’s okay. You’re safe here.”She turned to him, eyes still wild with fear. It took several seconds before she recognized his face. Then she buried her face in her palms, her voice trembling. “They… they dragged me… I can hear those footsteps chasing me again…”Arga placed a firm, gentle hand on her shoulder. “That was just a nightmare. They’re gone now. I won’t let an

Devandra’s office was silent that night, the only sound the ticking of the wall clock that seemed to pierce the air. From behind the tall glass window, the city lights glittered, but beneath their beauty, a storm churned in the chest of one man.The phone on his desk had just been slammed down with force. The report he had heard boiled his blood.“How could she possibly escape?” Devandra shot to his feet, slamming his fist against the mahogany desk so hard that the crystal glass atop it rattled. “Are all of you completely useless?”A man in a black suit—one of his subordinates—stood rigid before him.“W-we… we had arranged tight security, Sir. But somehow, Vania managed to slip away. There’s a chance—”“Silence!” Devandra snapped, jabbing a finger at him, his eyes blazing. “I don’t want chances. I want results!”---A Haunting DilemmaAfter the man retreated, Devandra began pacing the floor. His breaths were heavy, his chest rising and falling rapidly. His mind spun. Was this truly my

Arga pressed the gas pedal harder. That night, the city streets stretched endlessly in silence, the glow of streetlights casting tense shadows across his face. Since hearing the news of Vania’s disappearance, he hadn’t stopped moving. The warehouse on the city’s outskirts was almost within reach when his phone suddenly vibrated. He snatched it up at once.“Hello?”A firm voice came through on the other end.“Mr. Arga? We’ve located a woman named Vania. She’s safe, currently at the West Sector police post.”Arga nearly slammed the brakes in the middle of the road. His eyes widened, his voice catching in his throat.“What? Vania… she’s safe?”“That’s right. She was found by a patrol unit. She seems traumatized but unharmed. We suggest you come immediately.”Without another second of hesitation, Arga spun the wheel, making a sharp U-turn. Every tick of the clock felt like an eternity. His grip on the steering wheel turned his knuckles white. His chest pounded with a storm of relief and f

The damp air stabbed into Vania’s lungs. The old warehouse felt even more suffocating now that night had fully fallen. A weak neon lamp flickered in the corner, casting eerie shadows across the rusted walls. The coarse rope around her wrists had already left raw, burning marks, but her mind refused to give in.She remembered one of the kidnappers—the smaller one—who had given her a fleeting look, as if to say: “I’m not entirely your enemy.” That look had sparked the tiniest flame of hope inside her.Vania’s eyes swept the room. In the corner, a broken wooden board stuck out, jagged with rusty nails. She shifted her body inch by inch, wincing as the ropes cut deeper into her wrists with every movement.“Just a little more…” she whispered to herself. The sound of footsteps echoed from outside. Vania froze, letting her body go limp. A masked man’s shadow passed through the crack of the iron door, then moved away. The moment the steps faded, she started wriggling again. The ropes began to

The Damp AirThe damp air stabbed into Vania’s lungs. Rust, dust, and oil mingled in the cold warehouse, the dim lights dangling high above casting long shadows of the kidnappers pacing back and forth. Her hands were still bound, but her survival instinct refused to let fear take over. Her eyes darted to the iron door at the far end of the room. Every few minutes, one of the guards stepped outside to take a call or smoke. That thin chance—she had observed it again and again. If I stay still, I’ll die here, she thought. When one guard turned his back, Vania bolted toward the door. She forced her wrists against the rope, loosening it with sudden, sharp movements. Pain seared her skin, but she gritted her teeth and kept moving. Her breath came ragged, her steps urgent, her heart pounding furiously.“HEY!” a harsh voice shattered her hope.A rough hand yanked her arm, slamming her to the cold floor. The impact made her cough painfully. Two other kidnappers rushed over, one raising his han

That MorningTelevision screens across cafés, waiting rooms, and newsroom offices were lit up with the same headline:“Vania, a renowned business consultant, disappears under mysterious circumstances.”The reporter spoke with dramatic cadence, while grainy CCTV footage replayed on loop—showing a woman being dragged into a black car.> “Public speculation has erupted. Some claim Vania fled after being accused of leaking Devandra Group’s confidential data. Others argue she is the victim of foul play in the cutthroat rivalry between Devandra and Arga.”Social media overflowed with heated comments:—“If she’s guilty, of course she ran away. Jail’s waiting.”—“No, she’s a victim. The Devandra–Arga feud is dirty—don’t let an innocent life be lost.”—“Why is Devandra staying silent? If he truly cared, he’d speak up.”Devandra’s name was dragged back into the storm—not only as the aggrieved party, but now as someone who seemed to know more than he was letting on.---Devandra Group Headquarte
