Evelyn once stood at the pinnacle of power as the daughter of the Alpha King, a revered princess destined for greatness within the Blood Moon Pack. But her world crumbled when she gave everything—her throne, her family, her honor—for the man she thought was her mate. Gabriel, once her beacon of hope, betrayed her at every turn, casting her into the shadows as he lavished his love on another. Now, two years after fleeing an arranged marriage, Evelyn finds herself nothing more than a servant in the pack she once ruled, humiliated by the man who should have been her greatest ally. But when the pack is torn apart by a brutal attack and the truth of her family’s past resurfaces, Evelyn is thrust into a dangerous new reality. Dalton, the enigmatic Alpha she once defied, claims her with a cold, unyielding grip, and her life is forever changed. She is forced to confront her deepest fears and unearth the strength buried beneath years of betrayal. As enemies close in and the pack struggles to survive, Evelyn must navigate treacherous alliances, fight for her place, and ultimately embrace the power she never wanted—but now cannot escape. The war for the throne has begun, and the question is no longer whether Evelyn will survive, but whether she will rise to claim what is rightfully hers.

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

I covered my mouth with both hands, desperate to keep my sobs from escaping, even as my entire body trembled. From the kitchen, I could hear Isabel’s giggles, light and teasing, followed by a low moan that made my stomach churn.

“Oh my God, Gaby... yes,” her voice cooed, sickly sweet.

“Yes, baby,” Gabriel’s voice rasped, each word cutting through me like shards of glass. “Ride my dck just like that.”

I couldn’t take it. The bile rising in my throat, the ache in my chest—I couldn’t endure another second. I stumbled back from the doorway, heart pounding so loudly it drowned out the sound of my hurried steps. My mate. My so-called mate.

Once again, Gabriel was with her, and I knew what awaited me the next morning—another scar, not on my skin but on my heart, carving itself deeper. He would come to me, throw a cursory excuse my way, and continue his betrayal as if the mate bond between us meant nothing.

“Why me, Goddess?” I whispered, my voice breaking as I clung to the wall for support. Tears streaked down my face, hot and relentless. “Why did you pair me with him?”

The answer never came. It never did. Instead, a sharp voice yanked me back to my current nightmare.

“Hurry up, bitch,” Lena barked from the dining room, her voice laced with venom. “You’ve been here two years. You should be used to it by now. Gabriel loves Isabel. You’re nothing but dead weight.”

I bit my tongue, holding back the words I wanted to scream. Who was I? That question haunted me now. Once, I was the daughter of the Alpha King, a woman of power and pride. Now? I was nothing. Less than nothing.

“Move faster, sloth!” Alpha Vincent’s thunderous voice cut through the chatter of the dining room, making me flinch. His piercing eyes locked on my trembling hands as I carried a tray of food. “If my daughter’s birthday celebration is ruined because of you, I’ll skin you alive.”

I kept my head down, murmuring a soft, “Yes, Alpha.”

My hands shook as I arranged the dishes on the table, my humiliation burning like fire under my skin. For Gabriel, I had sacrificed everything: my crown, my home, my dignity. And for what? This—endless torment in the Lunar pack.

My sister Avery’s voice echoed in my mind. She had warned me. “Evelyn, don’t trust him. I’ve seen betrayal in your future.” But blinded by love, I ignored her. I ran from an arranged marriage to the most ruthless Alpha in the continent, chasing passion over reason.

The clatter of the tray slipping from my hands snapped me out of my thoughts. Cupcakes tumbled to the floor, frosting smearing across the tiles. Gasps filled the room.

“You clumsy little bitch!” Luna Penelope’s hand cracked against my cheek, and my head snapped to the side. Pain radiated from where she struck me.

“I’m sorry,” I whispered, my voice hollow as I knelt to gather the mess.

“Reject her, Gabriel,” Isabel’s sugary voice whined from across the room. “She ruins everything.”

Gabriel’s arm rested possessively around Isabel’s waist. He didn’t even glance at me. His gaze stayed fixed on her as he murmured, “Soon, my love. At our wedding. I’ll make it public.”

His words hit me like a blow, and I struggled to breathe. My wolf howled in agony, clawing at my insides. I forced myself to my feet, my vision swimming with tears.

“Back to the kitchen, wench,” Lena sneered, her heel crushing my hand as I reached for a fallen cupcake. The sharp pain forced a gasp from me, but I didn’t retaliate. I couldn’t.

I stumbled to the kitchen, gripping the counter as the tears finally spilled over. If Gabriel rejected me, I’d be cast out as a rogue. I’d lose everything—my mate bond, my place here, what little dignity I had left. And I couldn’t go back to my father. Not after the shame I’d brought upon him by fleeing.

“Crying doesn’t suit you, princess,” a deep, mocking voice cut through my despair.

I whirled to see Cole, the Alpha’s illegitimate son, leaning casually against the doorway, a smug smirk plastered across his face.

“Leave me alone, Cole,” I snapped, hastily wiping my tears.

He chuckled, stepping closer. “You’ve got guts, I’ll give you that. But here’s the thing—girls like you? You’re not born to cry in kitchens. You’re born to cry in my bed.”

I stiffened, glaring at him. “Not interested.”

He grabbed my wrist, his grip firm. “You’d be better off as my mistress. At least then, you’d have protection.”

I yanked my hand away, taking a step back. “Go to the celebration, Cole. I’m not your charity project.”

His grin didn’t falter. “Suit yourself, princess. But they won’t celebrate for long.”

Before I could question him, a scream tore through the air, chilling me to the bone. Cole’s expression shifted, and he left without another word.

I bolted toward the garden, heart racing. Chaos greeted me. Wolves clashed, their snarls and growls mingling with screams. Blood soaked the earth where once there were decorations, and the air reeked of death.

“Isabel, run!” Gabriel’s voice rang out above the carnage.

My gaze locked on his, desperate, pleading. But he looked away, focusing only on Isabel, shielding her with his body as wolves encircled us.

And I knew.

When the time came for him to choose, he wouldn’t choose me.

Chapter 2
The night wrapped itself around me like a shroud, thick and oppressive, as though the entire universe was mourning my broken heart. Gabriel had chosen Isabel. I told myself to expect it—I always knew deep down that I would never measure up to the woman who had been his first love. But knowing didn’t soften the blow. The betrayal wasn’t a clean cut; it was a jagged blade twisting in my chest. The bond between us, cruel and unyielding, pulsed with the agony of his choice. My wolf whimpered in my mind, the sound a haunting echo of my own despair.“Why?” The word escaped my trembling lips before I could stop it. My voice was fragile, barely a whisper, but it carried the weight of my shattered soul. “Why her, Gabriel? Why not me?”His jade-green eyes met mine, their familiar warmth replaced by an icy detachment. The face I had once loved, the one that had been my world, now felt alien. “Evelyn,” he said, his tone devoid of even the smallest hint of remorse, “you’re nothing to me anymore. Y

Chapter 3
The antiseptic stench burned my nostrils before my eyes even opened. The steady beep of machines nearby pricked at my nerves, a stark reminder that I was still alive. The ache in my head throbbed in tandem with my heartbeat, sharp and relentless. My limbs felt heavy, like invisible chains weighed them down, but that didn’t stop me from sitting up.The tug of something foreign against my skin made me glance down. An IV line snaked out of my arm, and the sight of it churned my stomach. I yanked at it with trembling fingers, wincing as the needle scraped my skin.“Princess, stop!” a frantic voice cried out.I didn’t care. “Get this off me,” I snapped, the harshness of my voice surprising even me.The nurse, a petite woman with a round face and nervous hands, tried to intervene. “Please, Princess, you must rest! You—”Her pleas were cut short by the sharp click of boots against the floor. My head whipped toward the sound, and there he was, Dalton, leaning against the doorframe like he own

Chapter 4
The sunlight poured through the sheer curtains of Alpha Dalton’s room, bathing the space in a golden glow. It was annoyingly picturesque, a sharp contrast to the cold sterility of the decor—gray walls, minimalist furniture, and not a single speck of warmth anywhere. The faint scent of cedar and leather lingered in the air, a quiet reminder of who owned this room. The events of last night clawed at my thoughts, especially his parting words.“This is my room, Tila,” Dalton had said, his voice calm but unyielding. “Besides, I never have the habit of forcing women, so rest assured. My Beta will send you the contract.” Then he’d left, like dropping that bombshell was no big deal.I’d tossed and turned all night, unable to drown out his deep, resolute tone. Sleep eventually came, but not without its cost.***Morning crept in, the first rays of light nudging me awake. The sheets clung to me like a cocoon, their warmth a deceptive comfort. My body felt heavy, unwilling to face whatever madne

Chapter 5
Dalton's POV:I clenched my jaw, fighting the urge to let my frustration show. "I already told my Beta and Gamma to prepare for the ceremony," I muttered, my silver-grey eyes locked onto my father. The old man was being stubborn, as usual, insisting on holding this damn ceremony under the full moon despite everything."The auspicious ceremonies must be held on the full moon, son," he repeated for the umpteenth time, his voice calm, steady, and impossibly firm. "It’s necessary. The chaplain has spoken. We must honor the traditions of our ancestors. It’s for the good of the pack."I threw my hands up in exasperation. "It's the twenty-first century, Dad! Let me just get this over with already." My hair felt like it was ready to catch fire from the tension coursing through me. I glanced over at Evelyn, standing next to me, her eyes flicking nervously between us. She looked uncomfortable—probably didn’t care about any of this—caught in the middle of a battle she didn’t ask to be a part of.

Chapter 6
***Evelyn's POV***The ceremony ground had soon turned into a ground of chaos and battles. What was supposed to be a night of joy and finally redemption for me had turned into a nightmare.I was fixed at my spot.I thought I had it all under control, I thought I could fight back but now I was fixated at the spot, my emotions weighing me down.Gabriel was relentless and swift, charging towards us with full speed. Worst of all? He hadn't come alone.Wolves in their beast form growled and snapped at each other, my mind had blacked out and the noises felt distant yet so real.Dalton was at the center of it all, protecting me from the battle on ground. He charged swiftly at Gabriel as they launched at each other, their bodies clashed with raw power, fist at claws tearing at each other.Without thinking I launched at the wolf that tried to stab me, as I changed into my wolf form.“Stand back!” Jericho's commanding voice cried out jerking out of my thoughts. He commanded the pack to keep th

Chapter 7
***Evelyn's POV***I told myself I wasn't going to come down here. I told myself Gabriel wasn't worth my time, wasn’t worth the stress of coming down here but every time I thought about his smug grin, it made me feel yet so uneasy. So, here I was, my footsteps echoing off as I descended deeper down the cell steps where he was held captive. My heart beat faster with each step I took, yet, I was determined to challenge Gabriel for having the guts to ruin things once more for me. The torches that stood by the steps shone brightly. My fingers brushed against the cold stone, steadying myself as unease coiled in my stomach. Why was I doing this? To prove that he couldn’t get under my skin? Or because, deep down, I was still afraid of what he might be capable of?I steadied my body, straightening my shoulders. No. I wouldn’t show fear. Not to him.Two guards stood by the heavy iron door that led to Gabriel’s cell. Their faces were hard, their postures rigid. They bowed slightly as I approach

Chapter 8
***Evelyn's POV***I needed a strategic plan. I needed to act as fast I could, though Dalton had ordered that I just stayed vigilant, I wanted to do more.I couldn’t just sit here.Dalton was doing everything he could to track down Gabriel’s allies, sending trackers in every direction, following every lead. But waiting felt like a slow poison, crawling through my veins, making me restless.Gabriel had confirmed Dalton's suspicions and the fact that we didn't know we were up against was even more scary. What if they were already here? What if the traitors were watching us, waiting to strike? And worse, what if it was someone closer to us, I didn't trust anyone, not even myself. My room felt heavily suffocating, closing in around me. I paced the floor, my wolf growling softly in the back of my mind, urging me to act.No, I couldn’t just sit back and wait. I had to do something.I thought hard that time seemed to fly with each thought, skipped lunch, I couldn't bring myself to take anyth

Chapter 9
***Evelyn's POV***The next morning came too fast, and I woke up with a dull ache in my shoulder from the scuffle the night before. I rolled it gently, wincing at the soreness. The faint bruise spreading across my skin was a reminder that whoever that wolf was, they were strong—and determined to get away.Dalton’s warning echoed in my mind: Stay out of danger.Yeah, right.Sitting around and waiting for answers wasn’t my style. Gabriel’s allies were out there, and last night proved they were already too close for comfort. If someone had managed to sneak into the packhouse unnoticed, what else were they capable of?Thinking about it alone scared the hell out of me, I stood by the window, watching the pack below. Wolves gathered on the training grounds, sparring and moving with fierce focus. Josh’scommanding voice carried so much power as he directed their morning drills.I couldn’t help but admire the way the pack moved—strong, determined, ready for anything. But were we really prepare

Chapter 10
***Dalton's POV***I watched as Josh dragged the unconscious wolf into the holding cells. Blood stained the stranger's shirt, a result of his little scuffle in the woods. Whoever this wolf was, he wasn’t just wandering around by mistake. He had a purpose, and I was going to figure out what it was.It was obvious that he was connected to Gabriel and definitely knew about the real traitor in our midst and I was determined to knock the truth out of him.The cell door creaked as Josh shoved him inside, chains rattling as they secured the prisoner’s wrists to the wall. I leaned against the cold stone wall, arms crossed, my mind running through every possibility.Gabriel might have been locked up, but his influence clearly wasn’t. There were still wolves out there loyal to him—wolves willing to do whatever it took to carry out his twisted agenda. And now this stranger had the nerve to claim there was a traitor inside the pack?He would spill. I'd make sure of that.Josh stood straight, brus
