Alana’s POV

The days that followed filled me with more dread than ever. Time was running out, and I still hadn’t come up with a good way to kill Alpha Kai. I was nervous and, above all, frustrated with myself.

I didn’t choose this life. Furthermore, I never asked to be used as a pawn for some malicious intent, but I can’t deny the part I am about to play either.

I arrived at the training ground that day after another sleepless night, my heart pounding with anticipation as I readied myself to burn off some steam from my system.

Kai had been teaching me some self-defense moves for the past week now, and today I was eagerly awaiting yet another session.

But as I approached the training ground all geared up and ready to be taught, I was shocked to see that only Adam had shown up.

“Hey, Adam,” I greeted him, trying to keep my tone neutral.

“Alana,” he replied, nodding curtly. There was an intensity in his gaze that made me uneasy.

“Where is the Alpha?” I asked, looking around.
