"Come on," John said to him, but Charles stood up, wiping his lips. He didn’t even glance at me as he walked away from the table.

I sighed. I was about to follow him, but I stayed seated. I didn’t want to get in the middle of a father and son. This was between them even if it involved me.

I watched as John stood up, ready to go after him, but I reached out and held him back. He was doing all this for me.

"I think you should just listen to your father," I said softly. "Everything he’s doing is for the good of the Pack..."

John turned to me, eyes sharp.

"So you’d be okay if I brought Diane back to the Pack, then?"

I didn’t respond because I couldn’t lie.

So I let my silence speak for me.

My phone buzzed on the table as it was a message from Simone:

“Come to the office, it's urgent.”

I sighed, setting the phone down just as John stood to leave.
