Chapter 27: I want to help you

Rayne, after attending to court matters in the courtroom, went back to his chambers. Instead of going to his room, he strolled to Isabella's room.

Despite trying hard not to think about Selene, he couldn't bring himself to not think about the girl. He couldn't forget her dark eyes, which looked at him with hatred.

If he had known that Selene was too emotional, he would have tried to look into the matter, but he didn't even know he would have to pity her like this.

"Rayne,” Isabella slurred as she walked to the center of the room to meet Rayne halfway. But when she saw the stern look of Rayne, she stopped in front of him, inquiring.

“Why did you kill the maid, Isabella?” Rayne asked in a clipped voice. He was still angry at the fact that Selene could break down like that in front of him.
